  • As a folkloric medicine, Siegesbeckia pubescens has been used for treatment of brain stroke and hypertension. Diterpene compound, 16,17-dihydroxy 16-${\beta}-(-)$ kaurane-19-oic acid, was isolated from the plant. Its potential antihypertensive activity was evaluated againstan animal model of hypertension, Okamoto-SHR. When diterpene compound with dose of 50mg/kg/day was orally administered, it exhibited mild antihypertensive activity comparable with propranolol administration dose of 75mg/kg/day.

Human Papilloma Virus Attributable Head and Neck Cancer in the Sudan Assessed by p16INK4A Immunostaining

  • Background: The aim of this study was to screen for human papillomavirus (HPV) infections in head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCCs) using P16 immunostaining. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 150 samples from patients diagnosed with HNSCCs. HPV status was determined using $p16^{INK4A}$. Results: 31 of the 150 (20.7%) HNSCCs were HPV positive. Conclusions: A large proportion of HNSCCs in Sudan are associated with HPV infection. The fact that the prevalence of HPV is high among Sudanese patients with head and neck cancers (HNC) has obvious implications for vaccine therapy.

  • Conventional full search block matching algorithm for motion estimation is computationally intensive and the resulting hardware cost is very high. In this paper, we present an efficient block matching algorithm using a 16:1 subsampling technique, and describe its hardware design. The algorithm reduces the number of pixels in calculating the mean absolute difference at each search location, instead of reducing the search locations.The algorithm is an extension of the block mating algorithm with 4:1 subsampling proposed by Liu and Zaccarin such that the amount of computation is reduced by a fact of 4(16 compared to the full search block matching algorithm) while producing similar performance.The algorithm can efficiently be designed into a hardware for real-time applications.

  • 정부는 지난해 11월 국민들이 즐겨 찾는 간식거리인알 가공품의 위생안전 수준을 근본적으로 높이기 위해 '16년부터 2단계에 걸쳐 HACCP 의무화를 추진하겠다는 내용이 포함된 축산물위생관리법 시행규칙 개정안을 입법예고하였다. 개정안을 살펴보면 알 가공품 제조업체의 HACCP 의무화 적용 시기는 연 매출 1억 원 이상이면서 종업원 5인 이상인 경우 '16년 12월 1일부터, 그 외의 알가공장에는 '17년 12월 1일부터로 2단계로 나눠 추진된다. 알가공업체는 '16년 1월 기준 132개소로 49개소가 HACCP 인증을 받은 업체이고 83개는 미인증업체다. 이중 40개소가 '16년 12월, 43개소가 2017년 12월 1일부로 HACCP을 의무적으로 적용해야 한다. 이번호에는 지난 '14년 축산물 HACCP운용 우수작업장으로 선정된 (주)풍림푸드(대표이사 정연현 대표이사 사 정연현, 이하 풍림푸드)를 소개코자 한다.

MCNP-4A와 CASMO-3를 이용한 CE 16$\times$16 핵연료집합체 임계도 및 봉출력 분포 해석

  • 핵연료집합체 연소도 계산용 전산코드인 CASMO-3를 도입하여 한국고유핵설계체계를 개발하기 위해서는 CE형 핵연료집합체의 핵적특성을 파악하는 것은 필수적이다. 따라서, CASMO-3와 몬테칼로 전산코드인 MCNP-4A를 이용하여 CE형 16$\times$16 핵연료집합체에 대한 $K_{inf}$ 및 봉출력 분포를 비교 분석하였다. $K_{inf}$ 의 경우는 CASMO-3에 의한 계산 결과가 0.5% 이내에서 MCNP-4A의 계산 결과와 일치하였으며, 봉출력분포의 경우도 제어봉 주변이나 Gd$_2$O$_3$ 독봉을 제외하고는 CASMO-3에 의한 계산 결과가 MCNP-4A의 계산 결과와 거의 일치하는 것으로 나타났다.

The Evaluation of 16x16 JDFA Pressure Loss Coefficients Using the Fuel Assembly Compatibility Test System

  • The hydraulic tests for 16$\times$16 JDFA were performed to obtain the pressure loss coefficients using the FACTS. The pressure loss coefficients are calculated by converting the each properties of experimental values for inlet region, mixing vane grid, outlet region and core region by performing a power fit of the pressure loss coefficient values to the corresponding Reynolds number. The test results are compared with the existing calculated values and evaluated by using the CALOPR code in terms of pressure drop. It is turned out that the differences between the test results and the calculated values are about by 3.8% for the pressure loss coefficients and by 8.5% for the pressure drop.

  • In this study, Object restoration of ultrasonic transducer fabricated with porous piezoelectric ceramics using Modified SCL(Simple Competitive Learning) neural networks are presented. Using the acquired object data $16{\times}16$ pixels, Modified SCL neural networks using the $16{\times}16$ low resolution image was used for object restoration of $32{\times}32$ high resolution image. The experimental results show that the ultrasonic transducer fabricated with porous piezoelectric ceramics could be applied for sonar system.

  • 인터넷의 급속한 성장에 따라 사용자들은 이동중에도 인터넷을 이용하고자 하는 수요가 증하고 있다. IEEE 802.16 시스템은 이러한 사용자들의 요구를 충족할 수 있는 시스템으로 이동중에도 인터넷을 사용할 수 있도록 하는 기술이다. 하지만 이동 중에 발생하는 핸드오프에 대한 QoS는 보장되고 있지 못하다. 본 논문에서는 핸프오프시에 등록걸차를 간소화 시켜줌으로써 지연시간을 줄여주고, 데이터 손실과 약간의 끊김현상을 줄여주고자 한다. 이 메커니즘으로 핸프오프가 발생할 때 BS간 전환을 보다 빨라게 해주어 사용자들은 이동중에도 다양한 서비스를 끊김없이 받을 수 있으며. 핸프오프 전에 받고 있던 QoS도 그대로 유지할 수 있어 보다 나은 무선 인터넷 사용을 할 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

Low Handover Latency for WiBro Network

  • IEEE 802.16 WirelessMAN aiming to broadband wireless access (BWA) is evolving to 4G mobile communication system through the standardization of IEEE 802.16e supporting mobility on existing fixed WirelessMAN system. It is necessary for hand-over to provide seamless data service while MS (Mobile Station) moves to another BS (Base Station). Because the performance of handover affects packet loss or delay of any communications, it must consider low latency handover mechanism in packet based network. In this paper, we describes handover scheme of IEEE 802.16e with the cell edge interference problem and shows the way to solve the problem in frequency reuse one deployment. Our scheme reduces the handover latency and packet loss probability.

  • With the establishment of rapid sequence analysis of 16S rRNA and the recognition of its potential to determine the phylogenetic position of any prokaryotic organism, the role of 16S rRNA similarities in the present species definition in bacteriology need to be clarified. Comparative studies clearly reveal the limitations of the sequence analysis of this conserved gene and gene product in the determination of relationship at the pathogenic strain level for which DNA-DNA reassociation experiments still constitute the superior method. Since today the primary structure of 16S rRNA is easier to determine than hybridization between DNA strands, the strength of the sequence analysis is to recognize the level at which DNA pairing studies need to be performed, which certainly applies to similarities of 97% and higher.
