  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of aerobic exercise through convergence on exhaled carbon monoxide and cardiorespiratory function of female college students who participated in nonsmoking. The subjects were female college students from University D in Metropolitan City D, and those who started smoking 2 years ago and who do not engage in regular physical activities were first selected, and a total of 18 people who indicated their intention to participate in the experiment were selected to receive a pledge of nonsmoking and consent to the experiment. The selected subjects were classified into 9 people in the exercise group and 9 in the control group by wireless assignment, and individual exercise intensity was set through the maximum exercise load test to establish an accurate exercise program. Individual exercise intensity is set to 50%HRmax for 1-3 weeks, 60%HRmax for 4-6 weeks, 70%HRmax for 7-9 weeks. In order to apply the correct exercise intensity during exercise, a Polar heart rate monitor was used for control and the following results were obtained. First, the change in carbon monoxide decreased by three levels from 21.17±3.67ppm (Red 2 16-25ppm, habitual smokers) before participation in the exercise group that participated in aerobic exercise for 9 weeks to 1.36±0.76ppm (Green, 0-6ppm, non-smokers) after participation, and the control group also showed the same effect from 22.35±2.08ppm (Red 2 16-25ppm, habitual smokers) to 2.81±0.51ppm (Green, 0-6ppm, non-smokers). Second, the change in cardiorespiratory function showed a significant increase in all of the maximum oxygen intake, maximum heart rate, and maximum ventilation in the exercise group who participated in aerobic exercise for 9 weeks, but there was no significant change in the control group. Therefore, aerobic exercise showed the effect of improving the cardiorespiratory function by releasing carbon monoxide and supplying sufficient oxygen to various organs.

  • This study was investigated the effect of aerobic exercise and chrysin supplementation on macrophage infiltration and lipolysis in high-fat diet mice. To accomplish the purpose of this study, C57BL/6 mice were fed high fat diet(60% fat diet) during experimental period. The animals were divided into 4 groups; NC (normal diet control, n=5), HC (high fat diet control, n=5), Hch(high fat diet with chrysin, n=5), and HME (high fat diet with aerobic exercise training, n=5). Exercise training was performed for 16 weeks on a treadmill running. As a result, macrophage marker, F480 and CD11c were significantly decreased in HME comparison with HD and Hch. Also, M2 macrophage marker CD11c, and lipolysis marker PRDM were significantly increased in HME compared with HC and Hch These findings suggest that regular aerobic exercise has beneficial effects to inhibit macrophage infiltration in high fat diet mice.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of therapeutic horse riding on adult with intellectual disability in terms of adaptive behavior. The subjects were 16 adults with intellectual disability. They participated in a therapeutic horse riding program of 60 minutes long, Twice a week for 12 weeks. The participants' adaptive behavior level were measured before and after 12 weeks of program with Social Maturity Scale. The data was analyzed by paired t-test using the SPSS. After 12 weeks of therapeutic horse riding program, there was a significant improvements on self-help, task, self-regulation & socialization. However, locomotion, communication changes did not reach statistical significance. The result indicates that therapeutic horse riding has a positive effect on adults with intellectual disability in self-help, task, self-regulation & socialization. This study suggests that therapeutic horse riding could be considered an effective method on adults with intellectual disability to improve adaptive behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to investgate combined effects of L-carnitine supplementation and exercise on body composition, serum lipids and adiponectin in obese high school female students. Eighteen female students with 35% fat in body weight participated in the study. Students were randomly divided into the following three groups; exercise and L-carnitine supplementation group (ELG: n=5), exercise group (EG: n=6) and control group (CG: n=7), each with seven students. They underwent 10 weeks of exercise (50 min/day, 5 times/wk, 10 wk, RPE 11~16). ELG was given L-carnitine (1 g/day), EG and CG were given placebos. Before and after this period, body composition, serum lipids and adiponectin in plasma were measured. The results of the study in the three groups were as follows: Fat mass and %BF were significantly decreased in ELG. On the other hand, free fat mass was significantly increased in ELG, however, other groups showed no changes. Total cholesterol was significantly increased in the control group. High density lipoprotein cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol were not different in the three groups. Triglyceride was significantly decreased in ELG. Adiponectin was significantly increased in ELG. This study demonstrated that exercise and carnitine supplementation have a positive effect on fat mass, %BF, free fat mass and adiponetin. Thus, we can improve proper dietary and training programs for obese students.

  • The present study is to determine the effect of lumbosacral stabilization exercise program on back pain disorder and gait velocity of patients with chronic low back pain. The subject was extracted randomly from 34 patients with chronic low back pain and divided into 18 patients of experimental group and 16 patients of control group. Before the experiment, the Oswestry disability index examination and analysis of gait speed were performed. Then, a conventional interventional therapy of physiotherapy was performed with the experimental group along with the lumbosacral stabilization exercise while only the conventional interventional therapy was done to the control group. Both groups did the above treatment every 30 minutes, four times a week for four weeks. Then, post-examination was carried out followed by comparing the back pain disorder index and gait velocity before and after the experiment for the two groups. The back pain disorder index showed that both experimental and control groups had significant difference within the group (p>.01)(p>.05), With regard to the gait velocity, both experimental and control groups had a significant difference within the experimental group and between the groups (p>.001)(p>.05).

  • The study aimed to evaluate the effects of the EMDR-IGPT(Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing-integrative group treatment protocol) on the depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, self-esteem in graduate nursing students. A quasi-experimental study employing a nonequivalent control group and pre-post design was conducted. The participants were graduate nursing students from C university (Experimental group=22, Control group=28). The experimental group participated in the 8 session-EMDR-IGPT for 8 weeks, while control group were treated by waitlist. Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2-test$, independent t-test, with SPSS 24.0 program. There were significant differences in anxiety(t=-2.50, p<.05) and self-esteem(t=20.78, p<.01) of participants between experimental group and control group after completion of 8 session-EMDR-IGPT. The results indicate that EMDR-IGPT can be used to improve anxiety and self-esteem of graduate nursing students. Furthermore, further study needs to identify the mechanism of the effects of the program.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with falls among older adults. This cross-sectional study used the data of 10,272 older adults who participating in the Korean Elderly survey, including demographic and health related characteristics. The data were analyzed with complex samples in SPSS ver. 23.0. The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that age (OR=1.262, 95%CI 1.111-1.433), education (OR=0.846, 95%CI 0.764-0.937), subjective health status (OR=1.172, 95% CI 1.041-1.320; OR=1.422, 95%CI 1.289-1.570), number of chronic illness (OR=1.438, 95%CI 1.050-1.968), number of medications (OR=0.798, 95%CI 0.659-0.967), muscle strength of low extremities (OR=1.260, 95%CI 1.101-1.441), and fear of falling (OR=3.576, 95%CI 3.166-4.039; OR=14.236, 95%CI 12.637-16.038)were significantly associated with fall accidents in the elderly. Thus, it is necessary to develop fall prevention program to reduce fear of falling and improve health status in the elderly.
