Fe-16Cr-6Ni-6Mn-1.7Mo 스테인리스 합금의 700~900℃에서의 대기중 산화 (Atmospheric Oxidation of Fe-16Cr-6Ni-6Mn-1.7Mo Stainless Steel between 700 and 900℃)

  • The AISI 216L stainless steel with a composition of Fe-16Cr-6Ni-6Mn-1.7Mo (wt.%) was oxidized at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ in air for 100 h. At $700^{\circ}C$, a thin $Mn_{1.5}Cr_{1.5}O_4$ oxide layer with a thickness of $0.4{\mu}m$ formed. At $800^{\circ}C$, an outer thin $Fe_2O_3$ oxide layer and a thick inner $FeCr_2O_4$ oxide layer with a total thickness of $30{\mu}m$ formed. The non-adherent scale formed at $800^{\circ}C$ was susceptible to cracking. At $900^{\circ}C$, an outer thin $Fe_2O_3$ oxide layer and a thick inner $Mn_{1.5}Cr_{1.5}O_4$ oxide layer formed, whose total thickness was $10{\sim}15{\mu}m$. The scales formed at $900^{\circ}C$ were non-adherent and susceptible to cracking. 216 L stainless steel oxidized faster than 316 L stainless steel, owing to the increment of the Mn content and the decrement of Ni content.

  • Sliding wear mechanism of a high nitrogen austenitic 18Cr-18Mn-2Mo-0.9N steel has been investigated. Dry sliding wear tests of the steel were carried out at various loads of 1N-10N under a constant sliding speed condition of 0.15m/s against AISI 52100 bearing steel balls. Solution $(1050^{\circ}C)$ and isothermal aging $(900^{\circ}C)$ heat treatments were performed on the steel and the effect of the heat treatments on the wear were investigated. Wear rates of the solution-treated steel specimen remained low until 5N, and then increased abruptly at loads above 5N. The rates of isothermally aged specimens were low and increased gradually with the applied load. Worn surfaces, their cross sections, and wear debris of the steel specimens were examined with a scanning electron microscopy. Phases of the heat-treated specimen and the wear debris were identified using XRD. Phases transformed underneath the sliding track during the wear were investigated and analyzed using TEM. Effects of the phase transformation during the wear and $Cr_2N$ precipitates formed during the isothermal aging on the wear of the austenitic steel were discussed.

Sp-Creep 시험에 의한 고온 크리프 특성 평가 기술 개발(ll) - 보일러 헤더 - (Development of Evaluation Technique of High Temperature Creep Characteristics by Small Punch-Creep Test Method (ll) - Boiler Header -)

  • For the development of a new creep test technique, the availability of SP-Creep test is discussed for 1Cr-0.5Mo boiler header material. And some results are also compared with those of 2.25Cr- 1Mo steel which widely uses as boiler superheater tube. The results can be summarized as follows. The load exponents(n) obtained by SP-Creep test for 1Cr-0.5Mo steel are decreased with increasing creep temperature and the values are 15.67, 13.89, and 17.13 at 550$^{circ}C$ ,575$^{circ}C$ and 600$^{circ}C$, respectively. The temperature dependence of the load exponent is given by n = 107.19 - 0.1108T. This reason that load exponents show the extensive range of 10∼16 is attributed to the fine carbide such as M$_{23}$C$_{6}$ in lath tempered martensitic structures. At the same creep condition, the secondary creep rate of 1Cr-0.5Mo steel is lower than the 2.25Cr-1Mo steel1 due to the strengthening microstructure composed by normalizing and tempering treatments. Through a SEM observation, it can be summarized that the primary, secondary, and tertiary creep regions of SP-Creep specimen are corresponding to plastic bending, plastic membrane stretching, and plastic instability regions among the deformation behavior of four steps in SP test, respectively.y.

1.25Cr-0.5Mo강을 이용한 합성가스 조성 변화에 따른 SNG 1차반응기의 부식특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Corrosion Characteristics of 1.25Cr-0.5Mo in the 1st-mathanator reactor for Synthetic Natural Gas according to Gas Compositions)

  • 최근 급속한 플랜트 설비의 발전과 더불어 각종 기계 구조물들의 운전조건이 가혹해지고 사용시간이 길어짐에 따라 신뢰성에 대한 문제가 제기되고 있다. 특히, SNG 설비에 사용되는 재료는 설계조건에 따라 1.25Cr-0.5Mo 또는 2.25Cr-1Mo강과 같은 내열강들이 주로 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 Lab-scale용 합성천연가스 반응기를 제작하여 생산공정 반응기 재질인 1.25Cr-0.5Mo강을 이용하여 실제 SNG 공정중 1차반응기와 동일한 운전 조건에서 부식 특성에 대하여 실험적 연구를 진행하였다. 1.25Cr-0.5Mo강을 운전 시간에 따라 각각 배출조성 조건과 주입조성 조건에 노출시켜 부식에 대한 실험을 수행하였으며 실험 결과 내구성에 가장 영향을 미치는 요소는 수소로 인한 수소취성과 산화 부식임을 알 수 있었으며, 배출조성보다 주입조성에서 더 빠른 부식이 발생함을 확인하였다. 그러나 배출조성 조건에서는 산화부식과 더불어 수소취성에 의한 부식이 동시에 발생하여 장시간 운전 후 부식정도가 갑자기 증가하고 부식강도가 급격히 강해지는 것을 나타났다. 또한 주입조성에서는 산화물들이 시편에 흡착되어 두꺼운 산화층을 형성시켰으며 이로 인하여 재료의 내산화성이 크게 저하되는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • When crack are detected in aged turbine rotors of power plants, information on fracture resistance of the aged material at operating temperature is needed for determination of critical loading condition and residual life of the turbine. In this study, fracture toughness (J$_lc$) and tearing modulus(T$_mat$) of virgin and thermally degraded 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel, which is one of the most widely used rotor steels, were measured at 538.deg. C according to ASTM E813 and ASTM E1152, respectively. Five kinds of specimen with different degradation levels were prepared by isothermal aging heat treatment at $630^{\circ}C.$ It was observed that J$_lc$ and T$_mat$ value decreased as the degradation level increased. Analysis of microstructures using a scanning electron microscope showed that the decrement of J$_lc$ is related to segregation of impurities at grain boundaries. It was also verified that the DC electric potential drop method is accurate and reliable for crack length monitoring at elevated temperature.

플라즈마 침탄한 저탄소 Cr-Mo강의 피로특성에 관한 연구 (A study on fatigue properties of plasma carburized low carbon Cr-Mo steel)

  • 플라즈마 침탄한 저 탄소 Cr-Mo 강(0.176C-1.014Cr-0.387Mo)의 침탄 특성과 피로성질을 고찰하였다. 플라즈만 침탄한 시편의 유효경화깊이는 가스 침탄한 시편에 대해 상대적으로 침타나시간이 짧고 침탄온도가 낮음에도 불구하고 50%정도까지 증가되었다. 플라즈만 침탄시 유효경화깊이의 증가는 표면탄소농도의 증가와 같은 경향을 보였으며, 표면탄소농도의 증가와 같은 경향을 보였으며, 표면탄소농도의 증가율이 침탄시간의 증가에 따라 감소하였다. 플라즈만 침탄간의 피로한도는 가스 침탄강의 경우보다 높았다. 이를 표면근처의 미세구조, 경화깊이 잔류, 오스테나이트와 압축잔류응력으로 조사한 결과 경화깊이와 압축잔류응력의 차이가 거의 없었다. 따라서 플라즈만 침탄의 피로강도 향상은 가스침탄에 비해 표면이 상승층이 저감되어 표면에서의 미소균열의 발생 및 초기 균열 전파과정이 지연 되어진 것으로 판단된다. 파단면 관찰결과 표면에서 균열이 시작되고 플라즈마 침탄의 경우 입내파괴가 현저하였다.

Mod.9Cr1Mo강에서 발생되는 일시적 취성현상 (Temporal Brittleness of the Mod.9Cr-1Mo Steel)

  • It is well known that modified 9Cr-1Mo steel has a low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity with excellent high temperature properties compared to austenitic stainless steel. For these advantages, the steel is very popular for the boiler tube of thermal power plants. Normalizing is commonly utilized to obtain martensite in this steel, which shows an unusual toughness for martensite. However, some accidents related to this steel have been reported recently, opening the necessity for further study. As a particular behavior of the steel, an abrupt drop of the impact value has been identified upon tempering at 750$^{\circ}C$ for about 1 hour. It is well known that $Fe_3C$ forms during autotempering and turns to $Cr_2C$ at an early stage and then transforms to $Cr_{23}C_6$. In this study, the cause of the abrupt drop of the impact value was investigated with an impact test, microstructural observation, nanodiffraction and phase analyses using instruments such as optical and transmission electron microscopes (TEM) with an extraction carbon replica of the carbides. The analyses revealed that the $M_2C$ that formed when retained for about 1 hour at 750$^{\circ}C$ causes a drastic decrease in the mechanical properties. The sharp drop in mechanical properties, however, disappeared as the $M_2C$ transformed into $M_{23}C_6$ with longer retention.

Plasma Paste Boronizing법에 의한 Ni-Cr-Mo강의 붕화물층 생성거동과 내 토사마모특성에 관한 특성 (A Study On the Sand Wear Resistance and Formation Behavior of Boride Layer Formed on Ni-Cr-Mo Steel by Plasma Paste Boronizing Treatment)

  • The surface property and formation behavior of a boride layer formed on Ni-Cr-Mo steel in a plasma paste boronizing treatment were investigated. The plasma paste boronizing treatment was carried out at 973~1273 K for 1-7 hrs under the gas ratio of Ar:H$_2$ (2:1). The thickness of the boride layer increased with increasing temperature and time in the boronizing treatment. The cross-section of the boride layer was a tooth structure and the hardness was Hv 2000~2500. XRD analysis revealed that the compound was identified as FeB, $Fe_2$B, and mixed phase of FeB/$Fe_2$B in the boride layer formed at 973~1073 K, 1173K, and 1273K, respectively. The Ni-Cr-Mo alloy boronized at 1173-1273 K showed the best excellent wear resistance against the sand. As a results of corrosion test in 1 M $H_2$$SO_4$ solution, $Fe_2$B formed on the matrix alloy exhibited higher corrosion resistance than FeB.

고온고압장치 적용을 위한 9Cr-1Mo강 용접부의 연화특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Softening Characteristics of 9Cr-1Mo Steel Weldments for High Temperature and Pressure Vessels Application)

  • 고온고압장치(High Temperature and Pressure Vessels)의 적용을 위한 기초연구로서 9Cr-1Mo강 용접부의 연화특성에 대하여 검토하였다. 9Cr-1Mo 강재에 Bead-on-Plate용접을 실시한 후, 용접부의 기계적 성질과 그 현미경조직관찰 및 미세경도를 측정한 결과, As-Welded 및 용접 후열처리(PWHT)등의 조건에 관계없이 용접열향부의 변태역과 템퍼링역의 경계에서 모재의 경 도보다 낮은 경도값(연화역)을 나타내었으며 이러한 원인은 결정립계(Grain boundary)에 석출 되는 탄화물의 형성에 의한 뜨임 현상임이 판명되었다.
