There has been considerable organisms the most indicative of the sanitary quality of food products. Of the suggested indices of sanitary quality of foods are coliform organism and SPC. In addition to the usual index organisms on fish products it is also necessary to determining the sanitary quality The authors have tested with 282 fish products (spring : 39, summer : 109, autumn : 112, winter . 22) 1. The range of microbial organism in fish products are as follows Spring : SPC is $13{\times}10^3\; to\; 50{\times}10^8/g$, coliform group is $16{\times}10^2\; to\; 48{\times}10^8/g$ and 2. coli is 50 to $22{\times}10^4/100g$. Summer : SPC is 70 to$64{\times}10^9/g$. coliform group is 25 to $26{\times}10^8/g$ and E. coli is 20 to $22{\times}10^4/100g$. Autumn : SPC is $10{\times}10^3\; to\; 46{\times}10^8/g$, coliform group is 200 to $20{\times}10^5/g$ and E. coli is 20 to $22{\times}10^4/100g$. Winter : SPC is $30{\times}10^3\; to\;30{\times}10^8/g$. coliform group is $21{\times}10^2\;to\;16{\times}10^3/g$ and E. coli is 20 to 790/100g. Salmonella and Staphylococcus species were not in 282 fish products.
The present study was to investigate the effect of sugars on the psychrophillic spoilage in ground meat. The obtained results were summarized as follows: 1. The minimum pH values for the ground beef containing 2, 5 and 10 % glucose were 5.25, 5.15 and 4.5, respectively. For the ground pork, the respective values were 5.1, 4.45 and 4.1. 2. Total aerobes, coliform, lactic acid bacteria and lactobacillus counts per gram for the control and 2% glucose-contained ground beef after 9 days for storage at $5^{\circ}C$ were $8.3{\times}10^9vs\;6.0{\times}10^7,\;3.5{\times}10^5vs\;2.4{\times}10^3,\;5.8{\times}10^7vs\;4.7{\times}10^6$ and $3.6{\times}10^5vs\;4.2{\times}10^6$ respectively. For the ground pork, the respective values were $1.2{\times}10^{10}vs\;7.8{\times}10^8,\;3.4{\times}10^5vs\;3.1{\times}10^4,\;5.5{\times}10^7vs\;4.5{\times}10^6$ and $3.3{\times}10^5vs\;3.7{\times}10^5$. The glucose-added ground meat showed higher counts than those of the controls only in the case of lactobacillus without any apparent adverse effects. 3. The length of storage time until the depletion of added glucose was 12, 16 and 28 days for the 2, 5 and 10 % glucose contained ground beef and 9, 16 and 30 days for the ground pork, respectively. pH did not start to increase until the added glucose was depleted completely. 4. The addition of glucose extended significantly the average shelf-life of ground beef at refrigeration condition $(5^{\circ}C)$. The extended shelf-life over the control was 7, 9 and 12days for the 2, 5 and 10 % glucose contained ground beef and 8, 10 and 12 days for the respective ground porks. 5. Although the addition of disaccharides (maltose, lactose, saccharose) lowered the pH of ground meat, the extension of shelf-life as seen in glucose treatment was not affected. In fact, the higher the concentration of added disaccharides was, the greater the degree of putrefaction occurred.
The objective of this research was to find a useful genetic information for yield characteristics of tillering maize hybrids. Fls were planted under three plant densities at the experimental field of Agricultural College of Chungnam National University. The fresh yield of P1213749//FR805/IK3, FR805/IK3//Waesungri and IK/LE/FR805/IK3 was 7,862kg/10a, 8,290kg/10a and 7,746kg/10a, respectively. The fresh yield of tillering maize hybrids was higher than that of P3394 hybrids. The dry matter yield of P3394 hybrid was 1,430kg/10a with low plant density(4,800p1an1s) and that of PI213749//FR805/IK3 was 1,834kg/10a, the dry weight of FR805/IK3//Waesungri was 1,836kg/10a and that of IK/LE/FR805/IK3 was 1,810kg/10a. Grain yields per 10a of IK/LE//FR805/IK3(783kg) was the highest in 4,800plants/10a, and that of check hybrid was higher than the tillering maize hybrids in 3,600plants/10a, but grain yield per 10a of IK/LE/FR805/IK3 was 752kg, and that of P1213749/Dangjin//IK/LE(699kg) was higher than P3394 hybrid(680kg) with 2,400plants/10a.
On the precontracted rabbit cavernosal muscle strips with phenylephrine ($5\ast10^{-6}$M), Increasing concentrations of acetylcholine (10-7, 10-6, 10-5, 10-4M) showed relaxation effect dose-dependently in control group ($10^{-7}$M : 15.32%, $10^{-6}$M : 35.44%, 10-5M : 59.45%, 10-4M : 76.54%). After 3 months administering Korean red ginseng, the relaxation action of acetylcholine was significantly increased ($10^{-7}$M : 34.18%, $10^{-6}$M : 56.35%, $10^{-5}$M : 75.33%, $10^{-4}$M : 89.86%). Relaxation effect of Korean red ginseng was significantly increased after 3 months administering Korean red ginseng. Intracavernous pressure response to electrostimulation wan 107.52 cm$H_2O$ in control group and significantly increased to 138.34 cm $H_2O$ after 3 month administering Korean red ginseng. With these results, we can confirm that long-term administration of Korean red ginseng enhances the erectly capacity and that its action is mediated by endothelium derived relaxing factor and peripheral neurophysiologic enhancement.
Flavobacterium sp. strain DS5(NRRL B-14859) was used to convert oleic acid to 10-ketostearic acid(10-KSA) via 10-hydroxystearic acid(10-HSA). Increase in cell concentration by centrifuging, collecting cells grown in two flasks, and resuspending in one flask, improved 10-KSA production to 6.5 g/L from 3.5 g/L in a usual flask culture. Tween-80 addition to the culture did not greatly affect the production of 10-KSA and 10-HSA. When culture broth was centrifuged after fermentation, it was observed that pellets were separated into two parts(yellow and white). Gas chromatography analysis showed that 10-KSA and 10-HSA were detected only in a white pellet, suggesting that the bioconversion products of strain DS5 are extracellularly produced and can be easily recovered from cells by a simple centrifugation step.
Recently NMR analyses of human urine show that the four proton NMR signals between 7 ppm and 8 ppm more frequently appear in stomach cancer urine than in normal and other diseased urine. These four NMR signals are found to be given by 7.25, 7.38, 7.63 and 7.80 in ppm. The calculations of spin coupling constants show that the NMR signals are identified as the four aromatic proton NMR signals of m-hydroxyphenyl rather than the ones of p-hydroxyphenyl. With this frequent appearance in the cancer urine, the cancer diagnosis has been made. In the present work, an attempt is made to determine the total volume susceptibility of the four aromatic proton NMR signals of the excreted m-hydroxyphenyl. The results of the attempt show that the volume susceptibilities of the above given values are as follows: 10.01${\times}$10$\^$-6/, 10.07${\times}$10$\^$-6/, 10.19${\times}$10$\^$-6/ and 10.27${\times}$10$\^$-6/. Hence its total susceptibility is 10.27${\times}$10$\^$-6/.
The following new techniques have been developed: (A); To a 500ml of sample water, it was adjusted pH 10 with ammonia-anmonium citrate, added 10ml of 1${\%}$ sodium diethyldithiocarbamate and extracted three times with 10ml of CHCl3. The extract was shaken with 10ml of 0.05N $HCl-4{\times}10^{-4}M\;HgCl_2$. The aqueous solution was added 2ml of 2N KCl and washed two times with 10ml of pure $CHCl_3$, and then recorded square wave polarograms. (B); To a 500ml of sample water adjusted pH 10 with ammonia-ammonium citrate, it was added 2ml of 1${\%}$ 8-hydroxyquinoline and extracted three times with 10ml $CHCl_3$. The separated $CHCl_3$ phase was shaken with 10ml of 0.2 N HCl. The aqueous solution was recorded polarograms directly. These methods can be used for determination of the ppb order of metal in water with an error of ${\pm}10{\%}$. The method (B) can not be used for the determination of zinc on account of the free 8-hydroxyquinoline.

The sequences of p10 gene its promoter of Hyphantria cunea NPV were determined. According to the sequence analysis, the putative p10 gene ORF has 285 bp. The 5'-non-coding leader sequence of the p10 gene promoter contained the TATA box and the putative transcription initiation site TAAG motif. Poly (A) tail signals, AATAAA sequence was at site 65 base upstream from the 3' terminus. The deduced amino acid sequence of p10 protein was 95 with a predicted molecular weight of 10.26 kDa. In the p10 protein sequence, a hydrophobic region was present at the N-terminus of the protein, whereas the C-terminus was highly hydrophilic. The p10 protein of H. cunea NPV did not contain cysteine, histidine, trytophan, tryptophane, tyrosine, glutamine and asparagine residues.
Background: Pathogenesis-related 10 (PR-10) proteins are small, cytosolic proteins with a similar three-dimensional structure. Crystal structures for several PR-10 homologs have similar overall folding patterns, with an unusually large internal cavity that is a binding site for biologically important molecules. Although structural information on PR-10 proteins is substantial, understanding of their biological function remains limited. Here, we showed that one of the PgPR-10 homologs, PgPR-10.3, shares binding properties with flavonoids, kinetin, emodin, deoxycholic acid, and ginsenoside Re (1 of the steroid glycosides). Methods: Gene expression patterns of PgPR-10.3 were analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR. The three-dimensional structure of PgPR-10 proteins was visualized by homology modeling, and docking to retrieve biologically active molecules was performed using AutoDock4 program. Results: Transcript levels of PgPR-10.3 expressed in leaves, stems, and roots of 3-wk-old ginseng plantlets were on average 86-fold lower than those of PgPR-10.2. In mature 2-yr-old ginseng plants, the mRNA of PgPR-10.3 is restricted to leaves. Ginsenoside Re production is especially prominent in leaves of Panax ginseng Meyer, and the binding property of PgPR-10.3 with ginsenoside Re suggests that this protein has an important role in the control of secondary metabolism. Conclusion: Although ginseng PR-10.3 gene is expressed in all organs of 3-wk-old plantlets, its expression is restricted to leaves in mature 2-yr-old ginseng plants. The putative binding property of PgPR-10.3 with Re is intriguing. Further verification of binding affinity with other biologically important molecules in the large hydrophobic cavity of PgPR-10.3 may provide an insight into the biological features of PR-10 proteins.
