Estimation of Magnetization loss of HTS wires with Different Current Density (전류 밀도가 다른 선재들의 자화손실 특성 평가)

  • Magnetization loss of HTS wire is strongly dependent on the critical current density and the aspect ration of the HTS wire. This paper presents the magnetization loss of stacked BSCCO wire and stacked YBCO wires which had different critical current densities. Width of the BSCCO wire was 4mm and widths of two YBCO wires were 4mm and 8mm. Single wire, two stacked three stacked and four stacked wires were fabricated and tested. Ratio of magnetization loss of BSCCO wire to YBCO wire was presented at single wire. For stacked wire, ratio of magnetization loss of single wire to stacked wire was presented. Test results shows that magnetization losses of stacked wires were greater than that of single wire at large high magnetic field above critical magnetic field.

FE-simulation of Drawing Process for Al-1%Si Bonding Wire Considering Fine Si Particle (미세 Si 입자를 고려한 Al-1%Si 본딩 와이어의 신선공정해석)

  • Drawing process of Al-1%Si bonding wire considering fine Si particle is analyzed in this study using FE-simulation. Al-1%Si boding wire requires electric conductivity because Al-1%Si bonding wire is used for interconnection in semiconductor device. About 1% of Si is added to Al wire for dispersion-strengthening. Distribution and shape of fine Si particle have strongly influence on the wire drawing process. In this study, therefore, the finite-element model based on the observation of wire by continuous casting is used to analyze the effect of various parameters, such as the reduction in area, the semi-die angle, the aspect ratio, the inter-particle spacing and orientation angle of the fine Si particle on wire drawing processes. The effect of each parameter on the wire drawing process is investigated from the aspect of ductility and defects of wire. From the results of the analysis, it is possible to obtain the important basic data which can be guaranteed in the fracture prevention of Al-1 %Si wire.

Development of the Wire EDM CAM System Considering a Variab1e Taper Wire-cut and an Unmanned Wire EDM During the Night (상하이형상 및 야간 무인가공을 고려한 와이어 EDM 전용 CAM 시스템 개발)

  • This paper describes the wire EDM (Electric Discharge Machining) CAM system considering a variable taper wire-cut and an unmanned wire EDM during the night. Wire EDM is applicable to all materials that are fairly good electrical conductors, including metals, alloys and most carbide. Thus it provides a relatively simple method for making holes of any desired cross section in materials that are too hard or brittle to be machined by most other methods. In this paper we classify variable taper wire-cut machining patterns and variable taper wire-cut geometries. Also we determine unmanned wire EDM patterns fur the productivity of wire EDM industry. Developed system consists of two modules: 1) Variable taper wire EDM module guarantees the length ratio machining function, the parametric ratio machining function and the marking function. 2) Unmanned wire EDM module guarantees the automatic wire EDM during the night. The proposed system has been tested in the fields and found to be a useful system.

The Study on Explosion Phenomena of a Metal Wire by Rapid Heating in Water (초고속가열에 의한 금속세선의 폭발현상에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of the present study is to investigate experimentally the mechanism of an exploding wire in water and also to observe the bubble motion induced by an exploding wire. The experiment of an exploding wire is carried out in a water tank. As a metallic wire, a tungsten wire of 0.2mm in diameter and 10mm in length is employed. The electric energy of 50-300J is fed to the wire from a capacitor of 100$\mu$F charged up to 1-2.5kV. The explosion is recorded by a CCD camera with the resolution of 1$\mu$sec. The explosion process of metallic wire is divided into three phases. Phase 1 : As the voltage is applied to the wire, the temperature increases due to Joule heating and the wire emits light. Phase 2 : Then the wire melts and the cylindrical plasma is formed between the electrodes. Up to this stage, strong light emission is observed. Phase 3 : The light emission goes out and a vapor bubble begins to grow spherically. The radius of a bubble oscillates in time, but the amplitude of oscillation diminishes in several cycles.

A Stydy on Steel Wire Fiber Reinforced Refractory Castable (철근 캐스터블 내화물의 고온특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study deals with the wire content, wire diameter, aspect ratio , it's arrangement of steel, wire fiber and the sorts of castable which affected the character of steel wire fiber reinformced refractory castable. Two kinds of alumina based refractory castables, one is for 1650℃ and the other is for 1800℃, and stainless steel which is SUS 304 type 0.25, 0.34 , 0.37 and 0.50m/min diameter were used respectively. Aspect ratio was adjusted to 50, 75, 100 and steel fiber content was also adjusted to 1-4wt% each. The results of the experiment were as follows : 1. At firing temperature around 1,000℃, MOR is increased with increasing wire content and aspect ratio with decreasing firing temperature, which depends on the Romualdi's Fiber Spacing Theory. But for calculation of the fiber spacing, Swamy equation is more a aplicable to the extensive fiber mixing conditions. However, the condition differs from the above at firing temperature around 1,350℃ ,because of the degradation of wire and the progress of sintering of castable. 2. Linear change is getting larger corresponding to the increase of wire content, and the spaling resistivity is increasing corresponding to the increase of wire content and to aspect ratio, and with decreasing wire diameter. 3. Firing shrinkage under load is getting greater as higher wire content, and the shrinkage of the test pieces which fiber is vertically oriented is getting greater than the test pieces which fiber is randomly oriented.

  • Superconducting electric power devices need to stack HTS wires to increase the current carrying capacity. Uniform multi-stacked wires(UMS) which were made of the same HTS wires have been used. This paper shows the magnetization loss of hybrid multi-stacked(HMS) wire made of BSCCO wires and YBCO wires. Five HMS wires, YB(YBCO-BSCCO), YYBB. YBYB, YBBY and BYYB, were made and tested. Magnetization losses of each UMS wire were compared with corresponding HMS wire. Test results show that magnetization losses per unit length of HMS wire are between the corresponding UMS BSCCO wire and HMS YBCO wire below critical magnetic field. Above the critical magnetic field, magnetization losses of HMS wires are larger than that of corresponding both VMS wires.

A Study on the Fine Wire Drawing Process Design to Improve the Productivity (생산성 향상을 위한 세선 인발공정설계에 관한 연구)

  • The control of wire temperature is very important in the fine wire drawing process. The wire speed should be increased, and the wire temperature should be dropped as much as possible. Up to now, the process design of wire drawing process depends on the experiences of experts. In this study, a wire drawing process design method was proposed to increase the productivity. The proposed method of this study includes the pass schedule and the design of a multi pass wire drawing machine. A pass schedule was performed based on the calculation of the wire temperature. Also, a new multi pass wire drawing machine was manufactured to apply the designed pass schedule. Through the wire drawing experiment, the effectiveness of the proposed process design method was evaluated. The final drawing speed was increased from 1,100m/min to 2,000m/min without deterioration of final drawn wire.

  • Pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) method is known as the promising production-technique for nanopowders. In this study, we developed and modified the previous single wire explosion equipment to the simultaneous two-wire explosion one for the fabrication of alloy or mixture of nano metallic powder. First of all, both the theoretical and empirical background of pulsed wire explosion of single wire were summarized, and compared with our experimental results for Cu and Al single wlre explosion. After then, the simultaneous wire evaporation equipment was designed, constructed, and tested. The current and voltage behavior were well matched between the calculated ones from the circuit equations, and the experimental results from simultaneous explosion of Cu and Al wire.

A Study on The Expansion and Contraction in Accordance with Temperature Change of Contact Wire and Messenger Wire (온도 변화에 따른 전차선 및 조가선의 신축에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents expansion and contraction in accordance with temperature change of contact wire and messenger wire. The tensioning device is designed and installed to pull the contact wire and messenger wire straight at all times. Pulling a contract wire straight ensures that smooth contract is maintained between the contact wire and pantograph of an electric train, and this makes it possible to ensure a stable supply of electricity to the train. Normally, tensioning devices are installed at two positions over a distance of 1.0[km] to 1.6[km] per line. In installing the tensioning device, therefore, it is necessary to study the stroke(the range of the extension/contraction rate of the tensioning device compatible with that of the contact wire and messenger wire due to change in temperature). This paper introduces and discusses this topic.

A Study on New Twist-Diamond Wire Characteristics for Improving Processing Performance (트위스트 다이아몬드 와이어의 성능향상을 위한 특성평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a new method to develop a fixed diamond wire for silicon wafer machining by the multi-wire cutting method was developed. The new twist diamond wire has improved performance with high breaking strength and chip flutes structure. According to these characteristics, the new twist diamond wire can be used in the higher speed multi-wire cutting process with a long lifetime. Except the design of the new structure, the twist diamond wire is coating by electroless-electroplating process. It is good for reducing breakage and the falling-off of diamond grains. Based on the silicon material removal mechanism and performance of the wire-cutting machine, the optimal processing condition of the new twist diamond wire has been derived via mathematical analysis. At last, through the tensile testing and the machining experiments, the performance of the twist diamond wire has been obtained to achieve the development goals and exceed the single diamond wire.
