This paper presents simple models for flow and the PIG dynamics when it passes through a $90^{\circ}$ curved section of pipeline. The simulation has been done with two different operational boundary conditions. The solution fur non-linear hyperbolic partial equations for flow is given by using MOC. The Runge-Kuta method is used to solve the initial condition equation fur flow and the PIG dynamics equation. The simulation results show that the proposed model and solution can be used fur estimating the PIG dynamics when the pig runs in the pipeline including curved section. In this paper, dynamic modeling and its analysis for the PIG flow through $90^{\circ}$ curved pipe with compressible and unsteady flow are studied. The PIG dynamics model is derived by using Lagrange equation under assumption that it passes through 3 different sections in the curved pipeline such that it moves into, inside and out of the curved section. The downstream and up stream flow dynamics including the curved sections are solved using MOC. The effectiveness of the derived mathematical models is estimated by simulation results fur a low pressure natural gas pipeline including downward and upward curved sections. The simulation results show that the proposed model and solution can be used for estimating the PIG dynamics when we pig the pipeline including curved section.

To improve the efficiency of internal combustion engines, it is necessary to understand mixed air-fuel in-cylinder flow processes accurately at intake and compression strokes. There is experimental and numerical methods to analyse in-cylinder flow process. In numerical method, standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model with wall function was mostly adopted in in-cylinder flow process. But this type model was not efficiently predicted in the near wall region. Therefore in the present study, low Reynolds number $k-{\varepsilon}$ model was adopted near the cylinder wall and standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model in other region. Also QUICK scheme was used for convective difference scheme. This study takes axisymmetric reciprocating model engine motored at 200rpm with a centrally located valve, incorporated 60 degree seat angie, and flat piston surface excluding inlet port. Because in-cylinder flow processes are undergoing unsteady and compressible, averaged cylinder pressure and inlet velocity at arbitrary crank angle are determined from thermodynamic analytic method and incylinder states at that crank angle are iteratively determined from the numerical analytic method.
This article describes a methodology based on experiments and 1D modeling work related to the exhaust system analysis of a small two-stroke engine. The primary goal of this work was to understand how the design criteria of a compact exhaust system influenced the exhaust port pressure, since its evolution controls not only engine performance but also exhaust emissions. On the experimental side, a fully instrumented 50cc two-stroke engine was used to check the behavior of three different exhaust systems. A problem related to instantaneous pressure measurements in unsteady, hot flow was detected and solved during the study. To build the 1D model of the three exhaust systems, experimental information on the steady flow and the impulse test rigs was obtained under controlled conditions in specific facilities. Accurate comparisons between measured and calculated exhaust port instantaneous pressures were obtained from the following different exhaust system configurations: a straight duct, a tapered pipe and the three compact exhaust systems. The last step in the method used this model to analyze the pressure waves inside the exhaust system and detect the influence of the geometric parameters. The results should lead to improvements in the design process of complex compact exhaust systems in two-stroke engines.
An iterative time marching procedure for solving incompressible turbulent flow has been applied to the flows around a high speed train including cross-wind effects. This procedure solves three-dimensional unsteady incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system using first-order accurate schemes for the time derivatives and third/second-order accurate schemes for the spatial derivatives. Turbulent flows have been modeled by Baldwin-Lomax turbulent model. To validate present procedure, the flow around a high speed train at zero yaw angle was simulated and compared with experimental data. Generally good agreement with experiments was achieved. The flow fields around the high speed train at 9.2°, 16.7°, and 45° of yaw angle were also simulated.
An advanced model for the linear flutter analysis is introduced in this paper. Higher-order beam structural models are developed by using the Carrera Unified Formulation, which allows for the straightforward implementation of arbitrarily rich displacement fields without the need of a-priori kinematic assumptions. The strong form of the principle of virtual displacements is used to obtain the equations of motion and the natural boundary conditions for beams in free vibration. An exact dynamic stiffness matrix is then developed by relating the amplitudes of harmonically varying loads to those of the responses. The resulting dynamic stiffness matrix is used with particular reference to the Wittrick-Williams algorithm to carry out free vibration analyses. According to the doublet lattice method, the natural mode shapes are subsequently used as generalized motions for the generation of the unsteady aerodynamic generalized forces. Finally, the g-method is used to conduct flutter analyses of both isotropic and laminated composite lifting surfaces. The obtained results perfectly match those from 1D and 2D finite elements and those from experimental analyses. It can be stated that refined beam models are compulsory to deal with the flutter analysis of wing models whereas classical and lower-order models (up to the second-order) are not able to detect those flutter conditions that are characterized by bending-torsion couplings.

In this study, a scaled model chamber was built to investigate ventilation characteristics of the Under floor Air-conditioning System. Experimental study was performed in model for cargo-oil pump room with inlet and outlet by visualization equipment with laser apparatus. Instant simultaneous velocity vectors at whole field were measured by 2-D PIV system(CACTUS'2000) which adopted two-frame grey-level cross correlation algorithm. The flow pattern reveals the large scale counterclockwise forced-vortex rotation from upside louver to lower scupper toward diagonal corner and also found small eddies at bottom layer

The purpose of this study is to analyze various hydraulic characteristics using SMS (Surface Water Modeling System) RMA2 model. It is based on 2-D finite element method. River reaches (13.8km) from Gyeongan gauge station to the inlet of Paldang lake was selected. Finite element was made by RIMGIS Data, and the analysis of river-changes was operated by unsteady flow. The sediment concentration and bed change was simulated using SED2D model. This River's velocity was distributed that 0.05~3.85m/s and bed change was changed about 0.0003~0.0135m.

In the present study, a computational analysis of the flow in a centrifugal blower is carried out to predict a performance and to explain noise characteristics of the blower. Unsteady, 3D Navier-Stokes equations were solved with k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model using CFX software. CFD results were compared with the experimental data that is acquired from an experiment conducted with the same blower. The pressure fluctuation in the blower was transformed into the frequency domain by Fourier decomposition to find the relationship between flow behaviors and noise characteristics. Sound pressure level (SPL) which is obtained from wall pressure fluctuation at impeller outlet represents relative overall sound level of the blower well. Sound spectra show that there are some specific peak frequencies at each mass flow rate and it can be explained by flow pattern.

This work experimentally and numerically analyzes the flow configurations and the dynamic wind loads on panels of rectangular L/h 5:1 cross section mounted on a structural frame of rectangular bars of L/h 0.5:1, corresponding to a radar structure. The fluid dynamic interaction between panels and frame wakes imposes dynamic loads on the panels, with particular frequencies and Strouhal numbers, different from those of isolated elements. The numerical scheme is validated by comparison with mean forces and velocity spectra of a panel wake obtained by wind tunnel tests. The flow configuration is analyzed through images of the numerical simulations. For a large number of panels, as in the radar array, their wakes couple in either phase or counter-phase configurations, changing the resultant forces on each panel. Instantaneous normal and tangential force coefficients are reported; their spectra show two distinct peaks, caused by the interaction of the wakes. Finally, a scaled model of a rectangular structure comprised of panels and frame elements is tested in the boundary layer wind tunnel in order to determine the influence of the velocity variation with height and the three-dimensionality of the bulk flow around the structure. Results show that the unsteady aerodynamic loads, being strongly influenced by the vortex shedding of the supporting elements and by the global 3-D geometry of the array, differ considerably on a panel in this array from loads acting on an isolated panel, not only in magnitude, but also in frequency.
In this study, the flutter analysis for a rectangular box wing and an actual fighter wing with composite shin, aluminum spar and aluminum rib has been conducted. A conservative 3D wing-box model of an actual wing is modeled by MSC/PATRAN and the corresponding free vibration analysis has been performed by MSC/NASTRAN. The finite elements of membrane, rod and shear panel are used. Using the practical ply angles, various composite laminates are composed and analysed. The DLM code which is linear aerodynamic theory in frequency domain is applied to calculate unsteady aerodynamic pressure in subsonic flow region and the V-g and p-k methods are applied to obtain the solution of aeroelastic governing equation in frequency domain.
