MDO Optimization for a low pressure axial compressor rotor has been carried out to improve aerodynamic performance and structural stability. Global optimized solution was obtained from an artificial neural network model with genetic algorithm. Optimized rotor model has a high blade loading near hub and near zero incidence flow angle near tip region to reduce the incidence loss and flow separation at trailing edge region. Also the rotor shape is converged to a trapezoid shape to reduce the maximum stress occurred at the root of the blade. Numerical simulation results show that rotor has 87.6% rotor efficiency and safety factor over than 3.
This research is a comprehensive analysis of wind power prediction sensitivity using a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) deep learning neural network model, accounting for the inherent uncertainties in wind speed estimation. Utilizing a year's worth of operational data from an operational wind farm, the study forecasts the power output of both individual wind turbines and the farm collectively. Predictions were made daily at intervals of 10 minutes and 1 hour over a span of three months. The model's forecast accuracy was evaluated by comparing the root mean square error (RMSE), normalized RMSE (NRMSE), and correlation coefficients with actual power output data. Moreover, the research investigated how inaccuracies in wind speed inputs affect the power prediction sensitivity of the model. By simulating wind speed errors within a normal distribution range of 1% to 15%, the study analyzed their influence on the accuracy of power predictions. This investigation provided insights into the required wind speed prediction error rate to achieve an 8% power prediction error threshold, meeting the incentive standards for forecasting systems in renewable energy generation.
Clocking effects of a stator on the performance and internal flow in an UTRC 1.5 stage axial turbine are investigated using a three-dimensional unsteady flow simulation. Six relative positions of two rows of stator are investigated by positioning the second stator being clocked in a step of 1/6 pitch. The relative efficiency benefit of about 1% is obtained depending on the clocking positions. However, internal flows have some different characteristics from that in the previous study at the best and worst efficiency positions, since the first stator wake is mixed out with the rotor wake before arriving at the leading edge of the second stator. Instead of the first stator wake, it is found that the wake interaction of the first stator and rotor has a important role on a relative efficiency variation at each clocking position. The time-averaged local efficiency along the span at the maximum efficiency is more uniform than that at the minimum efficiency. That is, the spanwise efficiency distribution at the minimum efficiency has larger values in mid-span but smaller values near the hub and casing in comparison to those at the maximum efficiency. Moreover, the difference between maximum and minimum instantaneous efficiencies during one period is found to be smaller at the maximum efficiency than at the minimum efficiency.

The important problems that arise in the design and performance of the axial flow turbine are the prediction and control of secondary flows. Some progresses have been made on understanding flow conditions that occur when the inlet endwall boundary layer separates at the point in the endwall and rolls up into the horseshoe vortex. And the flows though an axial turbine tend to be extremely complex due to its inherent unsteady and viscous phenomena. The passing wakes generated from the trailing edge of the stator make an interaction with the rotor. Unsteady flow should be considered rotor/stator interactions. The main purpose of this research is control of secondary flow and improvement efficiency in turbine by leading edge modification in unsteady state. When the wake from the stator ran into the modified leading edge of the rotor, the leading edge generated the weak pressure fluctuation by complex passage flows. In conclusion, leading edge modification(bulb2) results in the reduced total pressure loss in the flow field.
To get higher efficiency of gas turbine, The designer should have more higher turbine inlet temperature (TIT). Today, modem gas turbine having sophisticated cooling scheme has TIT above $1,700^{\circ}C$. In the korea, many gas turbine having TIT above $1,300^{\circ}C$ was imported and being operated, but the gas with high TIT above $1,300^{\circ}C$ in the turbine will give damage to liner of combustor, and blade of turbine and etc. So frequently maintenance for parts enduring high temperature was performed. In this study, the heat transfer analysis of cooling air in the internal cooling channel (network analysis) and temperature analysis of the blade (Finite Element Analysis) in the first stage rotor was conducted for development of the optimal cooling passage design procedure. The results of network analysis and FEM analysis of blade show that the high temperature spot are occured at the leading edge, trailing edge near tip, and platform. so to get more reliable performance of gas turbine, the more efficient cooling method should be applied at the leading edge and tip section. and the thermal barrier coating on the blade surface has important role in cooling blade.

A nonlinear dynamic simulation of a small gas turbine engine was performed by using DYNGEN program with various environmental conditions. It was observed that the effect of the bleed air flow rate changed to overall engine performance. The real time linear model which was a function of engine rotor speed was resulted to be close to nonlinear simulation results. For optimal LQR controller, it was considered only fuel flow rate or both fuel flow rate and bleed air rate as inputs. In the comparison of both results, the LQR controller with multi input had better performance than that with single input.

In this study, the influence of mass flow rate on the isentropic efficiency of the steam turbine nozzle stage is investigated. A realistic three-dimensional numerical model, which is based on the compressible Navier-Stokes equations, is developed for the steam phase. The comprehensive conservation laws and a kinetic model for steam are investigated. With two different models for the three-dimensional geometry of the nozzle stage, the pressure and temperature distributions, velocity, Mach number. and Markov energy loss coefficient are calculated. A maximum efficiency of 96.66% is found at a mass flow rate of 0.9 kg/s in model A. In model B, a maximum efficiency of 97.32% is found at a rate of 1.6 kg/s. It is determined that the isentropic nozzle efficiency increases as the Markov energy loss coefficient decreases through a nearly linear relationship.

The thermal barrier coating of a gas turbine blade was degraded by isothermal heating in a furnace and by varying the exposure time and temperature. Then, a micro-Vickers hardness test was conducted on the cross section of the bond coat and Ni-based superalloy substrate. Further, the thickness of TGO(Thermally Grown Oxide) was measured by using an image analyzer, and the changes in the microstructure and element contents in the coating were analyzed by using an optical microscope and by performing SEM-EDX analysis. No significant change was observed in the Vickers hardness of the bond coat when the coated specimen was degraded at a high temperature; delamination was observed between the top coat and the bond coat when the coating was degraded for 50 h at a temperature $1,151^{\circ}C$.
