Objectives : In this study, 233 dental hygiene students in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas were surveyed in order to provide the basic data for more effective clinical practice by investigating the stress they experience during the clinical practice and how they cope with stress; Methods : 5 areas in stress factors as environmental factor, interpersonal factor, role and activity, ideal and value, and the amount of BEPSI and 4 areas in their coping methods as problem-oriented, social support, emotion-oriented, and wishful thinking were measured by Liker 5-point scale. Results : 1. The satisfaction level of subjects on their major was the highest as 'generally satisfied (50.6%),' and their satisfaction level of clinical practice was also the highest as 'generally satisfied (32.6%).' 2. The clinical practice stress was 2.76 points on average, and their stress factors were ideal and value (3.18), environmental factor (2.98), role and activity (2,70), the amount of BEPSI (2.55), and interpersonal factor (2.37). And the way how they cope with stress were 3.29 points on average, wishful thinking (3.71), social support (3.36), problem-oriented (3.13), and emotion-oriented (2.95). 3. The clinical practice stress according to clinical training institutions showed significant differences: university dental hospitals and general hospitals (2.83), dental clinics (2.65), and dental hospitals (2.63). 4. The clinical practice stress showed a negative correlation between the satisfaction level of major and the satisfaction level of clinical practice (p<0.01), and the more satisfaction they had in their major and clinical practice, the less stress during the clinical practice. 5. In the correlation between each subordinate factor of the stress in clinical practice and how to cope with it, interpersonal factor and emotion-oriented factor, the amount of BEPSI and wishful thinking showed a positive correlation (p<0.05). Conclusions : In this study, it is necessary to develop clinical practice program that is to increase satisfaction and provide motivation in order to reduce the stress during clinical training.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to examined the demand for the change in Korean dental hygiene curriculum. This study compared the dental hygiene curriculum of domestic and overseas university and tired to provide the basic data for the development of standard curriculum that meets the education policy changes. Methods: Data were obtained from a cross-sectional survey of 1,192 participants including dental hygiene professors, dental hygienists and students. Data were collected by mail, telephone call from the professors and research assistants, email, and direct visit from June 10 to August 10, 2013. The questionnaire consisted of 4 questions of general characteristics of the subjects and 13 questions of dental hygiene curriculum. Results: The professors answered the development of integrated dental hygiene curriculum as the first priority(48.9%) and dental hygienists(51.6%) and students(42.6%) chose the development of new dental hygiene curriculum(p<0.001). In the analysis of validity of dental hygiene curriculum, the professors gave 3.29 to the validity of evaluation for basic job performance, and the clinical dental hygienists and the students gave 3.05 and 3.26 points, respectively(p<0.001). In relation to the necessity of the change of the dental hygiene curriculums, the professors gave 4.17 points which implied that curriculum change is the most important and necessary thing to do. The clinical dental hygienists and the students gave 3.90 and 3.47 points, respectively(p<0.001). Conclusions: The above-mentioned findings suggest that the revision of the current Korean dental hygiene curriculums is required. Therefore organizations related to dental hygiene including professor association and Korean Dental Hygienists Association should carefully rebuild the curriculum to improve the competency of dental hygienists. They should take the initiative in the development of a standardized curriculum.
The effect of low tempering in a temperature range of $150{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ on corrosion resistance in 420J2 stainless steel austenitized at $1000^{\circ}C$ was investigated by the application of salt spray test, electrochemical pitting test in 3.5% NaCl solution and DL-EPR test for intergranular corrosion in 0.5M $H_2SO_4$+0.01M KSCN solution. In salt spray test, good corrosion resistance was obtained in a tempering temperature range of $150{\sim}250^{\circ}C$. Pitting potential was increased to the tempering temperature of $250^{\circ}C$, but decreased with the increase of temperature up to $400^{\circ}C$ And it was thought that the degradation of pitting corrosion resistance showed at the tempering temperature of around $400^{\circ}C$ was due to the precipitation of $Cr_7C_3$ of $M_7C_3$ type. The degree of sensitization showed increasing tendency with the increase of tempering temperature, and also Cr depletion phenomena were observed in the vicinity of grain boundary.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of korean medical treatments on recurrent aphthous stomatitis(RAS) diagnosed as excess pattern(實證) based on symptoms of damum(痰飮), blood stasis(瘀血) and fire-heat(火熱). Methods : We treated a 61-year-old male patient who has RAS by korean medicine, pharmacopuncture and acupuncture treatment. These treatments were performed from 2020.01.22. to 2020.02.29. We have confirmed the improvement of ulcer lesions and pain. We recorded images that include change of symptoms. Results : After the treatments were done, the scores of numeric rating scale(NRS), oral health impact profile-14 (OHIP-14), oral assessment guide (OAG) and world health organization oral toxicity scale (WHO OTS) were decreased. The NRS score was decreased from 7 to 1. The OHIP-14 score was decreased from 30 to 14. The OAG score was decreased from 17 to 9. The WHO OTS score was decreased from 2 to 1. And ulcer lesions were clearly decreased. Conclusions : According to the result, korean medical treatments such as korean medicine, pharmacopuncture and acupuncture treatment, that are targeted at excess pattern(實證) caused by damum(痰飮), blood stasis(瘀血) and fire-heat(火熱) can be effective for the treatment of RAS.
Volatile flavor components, produced during the young (P-1), immature (P-2), mature (P-3) and old (P-4) growth stages, of shiitake mushrooms (Lentinus edodes), were extracted by simultaneous steam distillation and extraction (SDE), using a mixture of n-pentane and diethyl ether (1:1, v/v) as the extraction solvent. Analyses of the concentrates, by capillary gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS), led to the identification of 129, 129, 111 and 120 components in the P-1, 2, 3 and 4 stages, respectively. The major volatile compounds were l-octen-3-o1, 3-octanol, 3-octanone and 4-octen-3-one. Ethanol and ethyl acetate were also detected in large amounts. The characteristic volatile compounds found in shiitake mushrooms, such as dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl trisulfide and 1, 2, 4-thiolane, were at low concentrations in all samples. The amount of l-octen-3-o1 decreased as growth progressed, but concentrations of 3-octanone increased. The amount of 4-octen-3-ol decreased from P-1 to P-3, but was at a high concentrations in P-4. The concentration of 3-octanol gradually increased and reached its highest concentration in P-3, but decreased in P-4. The C8-compounds comprised 70.91, 64.09, 64.29 and 60.01 % in the P-1, 2, 3 and 4 stages, respectively, so decreased gradually with growth. The S-compounds were found in the highest concentrations in P-3.
The purpose of this study was to provide baseline data for revising the recommended energy intake for Korean adults. We recruited 290 adults so as to determine their resting energy expenditure (REE) and energy intake. The REE was measured by indirect calorimetry. We also calculated the REE from prediction equations formulated by World Health Organization (WHO), The energy intake for two consecutive days was assessed using the 24 hour recall method. The body weight, lean body mass (LBM) and percentage body fat were measured using the INBODY 3.0 system. We compared the results of three age groups ; 20 to 29 years,30 to 49 years and 50 years or more. The average energy intake of each age group was below the 7th Korean Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). The average energy intake was lower in the older age groups. However, no difference was observed among the age groups when the energy intake as a percentage of the Korean RDA was compared. Our measurement of the REE was higher than the REE calculated by the WHO's method. Correlation coefficients between the measured and the calculated values of REE for all age groups showed significant correlations (r=0.475-0.672). As the ages of all the subjects increased, the REE/kg of body weight decreased. There were no significant differences in the REE / kg of the LBM between the different age groups; however, the REE/kg of the LBM was higher in the female group than in the male group. Negative correlations of the REE with the age (r=-0.242) and body fat ratio (r=-0.313) were observed; positive correlations of the REE with the BMI (r=0.265), height (r=0.570), weight (r=0.562) and LBM (r=0.586) were also found (p<0.01).
This study was aimed to investigate the feasibility of nasal delivery of caffeine for the elimination of sleepiness. The effects of various vehicles, solubilizers, and enhancers on the permeation of caffeine through rabbit nasal mucosa was observed. The permeation study was carried out using a Franz-type permeation system at $37^{\circ}C$, and the amount of caffeine permeated though the rabbit nasal mucosa was determined by a validated HPLC. The apparent solubility and phys iochemical stability of caffeine in various nasal formulations were was determined. The effect of hydrotropes and modified cyclodextrins on the solubility of caffeine in water was determined by equilibrium solubility method. The solubility of caffeine in water was 29 mg/mL at $30^{\circ}C$. The addition of sodium benzoate and nicotinamide at 10% improved the solubility of caffeine (115 and 132 mg/mL, respectively) in aqueous solution. The flux of caffeine though the nasal mucosa from aqueous solution was $2.1{\pm}0.26\;mg/cm^2/hr$. The addition of sodium benzoate reduced its permeation $(1.4{\pm}0.01\;mg/cm^2/hr)$, but sodium benzoate with 5% $2HP{\beta}CD$ and 0.03% monoterpenes increased its permeation $(2.4{\pm}0.04\;mg/cm^2/hr)$ markedly. The addition of nicotinamide also increased also increased its permeation $(2.5{\pm}0.36\;mg/cm^2/hr)$. markedly. As the concentration of caffeine in nasal formulation increased, the permeation flux increased linearly. Caffeine was stable physicochemically and enzymatically in the nasal mucosa extract at $37^{\circ}C$. These results suggest that caffeine can be efficiently delivered nasally and the development of nasal formulation will be feasible.
This retrospective study evaluated the effect of age at first calving on the productive and reproductive performance in Holstein dairy cattle. Data were collected on 2,297 lactations from 19 dairy farms, including dates of birth, insemination, pregnancy, calving, and lactation and milk production (305-day milk yield at first lactation and lifetime milk yield). Lactation data were grouped based on age at first calving into the early (< 24 months, n = 414), moderate (24 ${\leq}$ and ${\leq}$ 28 months, n = 1,268), and late (> 28 months, n = 615) groups. The 305-day milk yield at first lactation was higher (p < 0.005) in the late group (8,461.9 kg) than in the early (8,130.8 kg) and moderate (8,261.9 kg) groups. Lifetime days in milk were shorter (p < 0.01) in the early group (1,045.7) than in the moderate (1,143.1) and late (1,110.7) groups, whereas the lifetime milk yield was higher (p < 0.05) in the moderate group (34,171.8 kg) than in the early group (31,791.6 kg). The second calving interval (days) differed (p < 0.0001) between the early (416.9), moderate (438.9), and late (455.3) groups. The culling rate at the first and second lactations tended to be higher (p = 0.08) in the early group (31.2%) than in the moderate group (26.0%), whereas it was intermediate in the late group (29.3%). In conclusion, dairy heifers aged 24-28 months at first calving showed a higher productive performance through an increased lifetime milk yield and a decreased culling rate.
This study was carried out to develop antitumor agents based on effects of the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the methanolic extract of Lonicerae flos on human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells. Human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells were cultured in RPMI-1640 media containing 10% fetal bovine serum, antibiotic, and fungizone. After incubation for 24 hrs, the cells were treated with A, B, C, D, and E fractions for 48hrs under the same condition. MTT (3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazoliumbromide), NR (Neutral red) and SRB (Sulforhodamine B protein) assay were performed. The light microscopic findings were observed by inverted microscope. In MTT assay, fraction B was shown significant antitumor activity (P<0.001), fraction E was shown significant antitumor activities (P<0.05), but the other fractions were not shown. In NR assay, fraction B was shown significant antitumor activity (P<0.001). In SRB assay, fractions B was shown significant antitumor activities (P<0.01). fractions A and D were shown significant antitumor activities (P<0.05). but the other fractions were not shown. In light microscopy. the fraction B of the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the methanolic extract of Lonicerae flos showed the highest antitumor activity. These finding suggested that fraction B possessed the most antitumorous agent.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the frequency with which nursing interventions according to domains and classes, and core nursing interventions of the Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) were performed by nurses on orthopedic surgery nursing units. Method: For this purpose, the third edition of NIC was used. Of the 486 nursing interventions, 424 were selected at 75% consent by experts. Data were collected from June, 2003 to July, 2003 5 hospitals and 69 nurses(return rate : 95.8%) in Gwang-ju and Chonnam region. 5 point Likert scale describing frequency was used. Results: The most frequently performed domain was 'physiological : basic'($2.97{\pm}.60$), followed by 'health system'($2.65{\pm}.65$) and 'physiological : complex'($2.55{\pm}.46$). The most frequently performed class was 'activity and exercise management'($3.82{\pm}.89$), followed by 'immobility management'($3.64{\pm}.62$), 'skin/wound management'($3.41 {\pm}.60$), 'physical comfort promotion'($3.23{\pm}.68$) and 'thermoregulation'($3.01{\pm}.91$). The most frequently performed nursing intervention was 'medication administration' ($4.96{\pm}.21$), followed by 'medication administration : intravenous'($4.93{\pm}.31$), 'analgesic administration'($4.91{\pm}.51$), 'pain management'($4.87{\pm}.34$) and 'medication administration : intramuscular'($4.78{\pm}.68$). Conclusion: In conclusion, the third edition of NIC was found to be a general and comprehensive classification system for application on orthopedic surgery nursing units. These findings will help in building of a standardized language for orthopedic surgery nursing units and enhance the quality of nursing care.
