Physical and Sound Absorption Properties Estimation of Cherospondias axillaris, Japanese Fast Growing Tree (일본산속성수 찬친모도키재의 물리적 성질과 흡음성능 평가)

  • To suggest the practical use of fast growing tree, we estimated the physical and sound absorption properties of Cherospondias axillaris which is one of the japanese fast growing species. The average annual ring width and air dry specific gravity were 8 mm and 0.55 respectively. The sound absorption coefficients of Cherospondias axillaris wood generally seemed to be a little higher than those of other construction materials such as 6 mm thick gypsum board and 18 mm thick fiberboard, and considered that it could be used as a constructing material owing to relatively good mechanical properties and sound absorption properties.

Effect of Cyclic Exposure on the Mechanical Properties of Fire Retardant Treated Plywood (순환적 폭로가 내화처리 합판의 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향)

  • 합판(合板)에 내화약제(耐火藥劑) 가압법(加壓法)에 의하여 약 1,588kg/$(30cm)^3$(3.5lbs/$ft^3$)을 주입시켜 내화합판(耐火合板)을 제조(製造)한 후(後), 이들 합판(合板)의 합수율(含水率)을 6%로 유지하면서, 기간은 0, 21, 60, 160 및 215일 동안 온도를 $26.6^{\circ}C(80^{\circ}F)$에 14 시간, $65^{\circ}C(150^{\circ}F)$에서 7시간, $26.6^{\circ}C$로 내리는데 1시간, $65^{\circ}C$로 올리는데 2시간씩으로 순환시켜, 내화처리합판(耐火處理合板)과 무처리합판(無處理合板)의 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향을 조사 비교 하였다. MOE는 내화처리합판(耐火處理合板)과 무처리합판(無處理合板) 사이에 유의성이 없었고, MOR에 있어서 내화처리합판(耐火處理合板)은 무처리합판(無處理合板)에 비하여 15~20% 감소하였고, WML에 있어서 내화처리합판(耐火處理合板)과 무처리합판(無處理合板)사이에 유의성이 있었으며, 두 내화처리합판(耐火處理合板) 사이에도 시간에 따라 유의성이 인정되었다. 따라서 WML은 내화처리합판(耐火處理合板)의 기계적 성질을 구명하는데 좋은 기준이 될 것으로 사료된다.

Retention Behavior of Lanthanide Complexes with $\alpha$ -hydroxyisobutyric Acid on Cation Exchanger (양이온 교환체에서 희토류원소와 $\alpha$-Hydroxyisobutyric Acid 착물들의 머무름 거동에 관한 연구)

  • Retention behavior of lanthanide-$\alpha$HiBA complexes was studied on the cation exchanger (LC-18 coated with $C_{20}H_{41}SO_4^-$). An equation predicting retention of lanthanides in isocratic or gradient elution with sodium ion and $\alpha$-HiBA concentration was derived from ion exchange equilibria of metal-ligand complex system, respectively. The relations between log k' and log [Na$^+$] /log [$\alpha$-HiBA) showed non-linearity in isocratic elution. In gradient elution a good linearity between log k' vs log R was obtained. The values of slopes (log k / log R) gave good agreements between calculation and experiment. Individual capacity factors ($k'_{Ln}^{3+}, k'_{LnL}^{2+}, k'{LnL2+}) and stability constant (${\beta}_1$, ${\beta}_2$, ${\beta}_3$) of lanthanide-$\alpha$HiBA complexes were calculated by the non-linear least square fittings using the retention equation. The correlation coefficients of lanthanides were shown better than 0.9996 between experiment and calculation.

Studies on the growth and properties of orthophosphate crystals by the hydrothermal method (수열법에 의한 올소인산염 결정의 육성과 성질에 관한 연구)

  • Orthophosphate crystals were grown by the hydrothermal method and the properties of grown crystals were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction. Vickers hardness tester, etc. The starting powders of $AIPO_4 and GaPO_4 $were prepared as a single phase by the solid state reaction of stoichiometric mixture of $AI_2O_3 or Ga_2O_3$ and $NH_4H_2PO_4$ and the subsequently by the hydrothermal treatment. The hydrothermal conditions for high growth rates of the orthophosphate crystals are as follows: $AlPO_4$ crystal; temperature ranges, between $170$~$200^{\circ}C$; temperatures difference, $15$~$20^{\circ}C;$, hydrothermal solvent, 4m HCl, $GaPO_4 crystal; temperature ranges, between $210 and 240^{\circ}C;$; temperature difference, $25$~$30^{\circ}C; $, hydrothermal solvent, 4m HCl. Morphologies of grown crystals tended to be bounded by (1010), (1011) and (0111) faces at low temperatures, and grew with well developed (0001) faces by increasing the growth temperature. On the other hand, the properties of orthophosphate crystals $(AlPO_4/GaPO_4)$ were as follows: lattice parameters (nm); a=0.494, c=1.094/a=0.490, c=1.105, density (gcm-3); 2.62/3.56, Vickers hardness (Nm^2); $1.02{\times}10^1^0/7.06{\times}10^9$, refractive indices; $ne=1.529{\pm}0.003, no=1.519{\pm}0.003/ne=1.611{\pm}0.006, no=1.599{\pm}0.006, birefringence; {\pm}0.01/{\pm}0.012$, dielectric constant (Fm-1); 6/7.

Effect of Acid Treatment on Extractability and Properties of Agar (산처리(酸處理) 조건(條件)이 한천(寒天)의 수율(收率) 및 성질(性質)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Agar was prepared from domestic agarophyte (Gelidium amansii) by a process of acid extraction. Optimal conditions in the acid treatment of the seaweed and the gelling properties of the agar thus prepared were investigated. The yield and gel strength of the control (the agar extracted with distilled water) showed 13,3% and 306g/$cm^2$, respectively. The yield of 38.7% was obtained when agar was extracted with 0.007N Hydorchloric acid while the gel strength of agar,511g/$cm^2$ was observed with the agar extracted with 0.005N Hydorchloric acid solution. The agar extracted with hydrochloric acid solution showed excellent properties of agar at the acid concentration range 0.005N-0.01N The cooking time of 60 min. was found to be effective to the yield and also to the gelling property of the agar and the cooking longer than 60 min. was proved to be destructive to agar. In general, yield and gelling properties of the agar obtained showed a close relation to the acid concentration and cooking time, but no consistent influence on the contents of ash and sulfur trioxide.

  • Pinus is one of the most important species supplying domestic industrial timbers such as constitutional lumber, pulpwood, and mine props. It occupies nearly 50 percent of the total forest resources in Korea. With above conception, to develop this forest resources and to obtain the basic data on the reasonable and effective utilization of Pinus, this study was carried out. Five species (P. koraiensis S. et Z., P. densiflora S. et Z., P. thunbergii Parlat, P. densiflara far erecta, P. rigida Miller) grown in Kwangnoong experimental forest stand, Chungcheongnam-Do, and Gangwon-Do regions were selected as sample trees. Anatomical, physical, mechanical and chemical properties of them were investigated.

Magneto-Optical Properties of MnSbPt Thin Films Prepared by RF Magnetron Sputtering (RF Magnetron Sputtering으로 제작된 MnSbPt 합금박막의 자기광학적 성질)

  • The effects of annealing after deposition on the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of MnSbPt thin films prepared by rf sputtering were investigated. The MnSbPt alloy thin films were annealed in a vacuum with $10^{-5}$ Torr and the air, respectively, as a function of temperature and time. The films annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours was found to have the highest value of the saturation magnetization. The films annealed in the air did not show any thermal degradations, which indicates their chemical stability for the magneto-optical recording process. It was revealed that the $Mn_{43}Sb_{46}Pt_{11}$ films annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ for 4hours in a vacuum with $10^{-5}$ Torr exhibit high Kerr rotation angle of $0.8^{\circ}$ for the incident wavelength of 550nm, which is ascribed to the increase of the volume ratio of Clb phase. However, similar to the PtMnSb alloy thin films, these films are still horizontally magnetized and have the coercive field less than 400 Oe.

Flow Properties of Gelatinized Cowpea Flour Dispersion (동부 앙금 호화액의 흐름 성질)

  • The effects of concentrations (6~9%), heating temperatures (80, 85, 90 and 95$^{\circ}C$) and heating methods (continuous, method A and instantaneous, method B) on the flow properties of cowpea flour (air-dried sediment) at 6$0^{\circ}C$ were studied. The gelatinized cowpea flour dispersions by method B had higher values of yield stress and consistency index but lower value of flow behavior index compared to those values of method A. The log values of consistency index were positively correlated with the concentration and heating temperature for both methods. The rate of increase in the consistency index value by method B at the same concentration was greater in all heating temperatures than that by method A.
