Relations Among Motivation to Lead, Leadership Behavior, and Performance (리더십 발휘동기, 리더십 행위 그리고 성과간의 관계에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The current study is an attempt, in two separate surveys, to explore the role of motivation to lead, which has rarely been introduced into academic leadership research in Korea. For the survey and statistical analysis, the population is defined as the employees working in Korea. The motivation to lead is considered important in practices since without it any leadership development interventions show less possibility to succeed. The motivation to lead was defined in terms of three dimensions as in affective motivation, socio-normative motivation, and non-calculative motivation(Chen & Drasgow, 2001). The study then empirically explored the potential relationships between the three dimensions and leadership styles. Specifically, such leadership styles as transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and self-sacrificial leadership behavior have been correlated to motivation to lead. In addition, using regression analysis, the explanatory power of the motivation to lead on various dependent variables were investigated. As a result, the three dimensions of motivation to lead, that is, affective, socio-normative, and non-calculative motivations each were found to have strong correlations with transformational, transactional, and self-sacrificial leadership, as well as with other criterion-related variables such as organizational commitment and trust. Limitations of the current study, along with future research directions were also discussed.

Analysis on Coexistence between Unlicensed Wireless Device based on 802.11ah and LTE User Equipment (802.11ah 기반 비면허 무선기기와 LTE 단말기 간 공존 분석)

  • Recently, a lot of attention is fallen to IoT(Internet of Things) for hyper-connected society and the number of unlicensed wireless device has been increasing. Thus, this paper analyzed the impact of unlicensed wireless device on the basis of 802.11ah on licensed LTE user equipment in 900 MHz frequency band for efficient frequency use. As the interference analysis method, Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) method and Monte Carlo (MC) method were used. In case of one interferer, minimum separation distance between interferer and victim was calculated as about 22 m through the MCL method under the assumption of the worst case. The maximum number of interferer to meet the interference probability of 5% below within a cell radius of the victim was computed as about 3000 by using MC method based on statistical technique. The analysis method and results in this paper are expected to be used for the coexistence between unlicensed wireless device and licensed wireless device.

  • The corrosion of steel in concrete is significant in marine environment. Marine bridges are readily deteriorated due to the exposure to marine environment. Salt damage is one of the most detrimental causes to concrete bridges and port structures. Especially, the splash and tidal zones around water line are comparatively important in terms of safety and life-time point of view. During the last several decades, cathodic protection (cp) has been commonly accepted as an effective technique for corrosion control in concrete structures. Zn-mesh sacrificial anode has been recently developed and started to apply to the bridge column cp in marine condition. The detailed parameters regarding Zn-mesh cp technique, however, have not well understood. This study is to investigate how much Zn-mesh cp influences along the concrete column at elevated temperature. About 100cm column specimens with eight of 10cm segment rebars have been used to measure the variation of cp potential with the distance from Zn-mesh anode at both 10$^{\circ}$C and 40$^{\circ}$C in natural seawater. The cp potential change and current diminishment along the column specimens have been discussed for the optimum design of cp by Zn-mesh sacrificial anode

The Effects of Hotel Culinary Employee's Job Embeddedness on Job Satisfaction, Career Commitment and Turnover Intention (호텔 조리종사자의 직무착근도가 직무만족, 경력몰입 및 이직의사에 미치는 영향)

  • This study made frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 for 225 culinary employees working for super deluxe hotels in Busan and Ulsan areas in order to analyze the effects of job embeddedness on job satisfaction, career commitment and turnover intention. Results are as follows: first, as a result of testing the effects of hotel culinary employee's job embeddedness on job satisfaction, it was found that fitness, sacrifice, and links have positive (+) effects on job satisfaction. Second, it was found that fitness and sacrifice of a hotel culinary employee's job embeddedness have positive (+) effects on career commitment. Third, this study showed that fitness and sacrifice have negative (-) effects on turnover intention. Fourth, it was found that job satisfaction has a negative (-) effect on turnover intention. Fifth, it was found that career commitment has a negative (-) effect on turnover intention. These findings indicate that the higher hotel culinary employee's job embeddedness is, the less their intention to change jobs becomes by increasing job satisfaction and career commitment.

  • Fiber-Reinforced Cement Composite (FRCC) is known to be effective in mechanical effects such as cracking width control as well as steel anticorrosive effect. In this study, we examined about steel anticorrosive effect by using metal fibers including zinc fibers by accelerated corrosion test. Moreover, it was examined for salt penetration, sacrificial anode effect and formation of electric circuit that was significant effect on the steel anticorrosive effect. As a result, Steel anticorrosive effect was confirmed with mixed metal fibers on FRCC. Especially, In the case of zinc fibers with a high sacrificial anode effect, it was confirmed that the suppression of penetration and corrosion resistance were improved.
