Academic libraries need to select and purchase essential collections to support students and faculty in education and research. Therefore, libraries reflect patrons' information needs on collection development through patron purchase requests. This study analyzed the pattern and efficiency of patron purchase requests in a longer-term perspective; for over a decade. Patron purchase requests show different tendencies depending on academic characteristics, which enabled libraries to identify the users' information needs in various subjects. Typically users contributed to collection development by expressing information needs in their fields of study through purchase requests. In the meantime, users in certain fields showed interest in other subject areas besides their own to select general books on various topics. Through this study, it became evident that a major portion of library collections were affected by active purchase requests from a small number of users. However those books were proven to be in demand in terms of effectiveness. Patron-driven acquisition is being implemented as an effective collection development policy.

In the development of a university library's collection, the concept of patron-driven acquisition refers to a collection strategy that addresses users' direct information needs. In this study, an analysis of ten years' worth of book requests by user types was conducted to understand the topic preferences for efficient collection devleopment in the university library. In collection development, identifying subject areas of users' requested books is necessary for librarians to identify key areas of collection development and establish balanced collection development policies. To identify the major subject areas for each user group, KDC (Korean Decimal Classification) subject classifications were used, and network analysis techniques were applied to investigate the relationships between book topics in detail. The analysis revealed that "social sciences" emerged as the major topic across all user groups. However, in the analysis of sub-topics, "medicine" and "psychology" were distinctively identified as the major subject areas for graduate students, setting them apart from other user groups. The result of the network analysis further indicated that undergraduate students showed unique topics such as civil service, job placement, and career, which were not observed as major topic clusters in other user groups. On the other hand, graduate students tended to concentrate on a few specialized subjects, forming distinct topic clusters in the analysis.

본 시스템은 도서관 이용을 목적으로 만들었다. 초.중.고등학교에서 사용 가능하며 학생의 경우 대출, 반납, 도서연장, 희망도서 등록 등을 바코드를 이용하여 안전하고 편리하게 사용 할 수 있다. 앱을 통해 대출한 도서의 대출기간 확인과 대출 기간 연장 기능을 추가하여 연체로 인한 문제를 감소하도록 하였다. 학교 측에서 도서 후기 작성으로 독후감 대회를 주최할 수 있고 학생들이 어떠한 도서를 희망하는지 알 수 있다. 이런 다양한 활동을 컴퓨터뿐만 아니라 앱을 통해 스마트폰에서도 사용가능하도록 하였다.

본 논문에서는 디지털 시대 흐름에 따라 최근 들어 종이책보다 전자책 이용률이 높아졌기에 이를 바탕으로 독서의 접근성을 더 높이기 위한 온라인 도서관 시스템을 제안한다. 해당 시스템에서 사용자의 경우, 온라인으로 도서 검색 및 대여, 희망도서 신청 그리고 자유게시판 등의 시스템을 편리하게 사용할 수 있다. 관리자의 경우, 간편한 도서 및 회원 관리 기능, 공지사항 기능뿐만 아니라 도서 현황이나 대여 현황 등을 그래프 및 차트로 시각화하여 서비스를 제공한다. 주요 사용하는 페이지는 반응형 웹 페이지로 구현을 하였기에 PC뿐만 아니라 다양한 기기로도 활용할 수 있도록 사용자의 편의성을 제공한다.

The local bookstore direct loan service for users' requests in public libraries, which was launched in Gyeonggi Province, is a creative new service that has led to the revitalization of the local economy through the rise in sales of local bookstores and high user satisfaction. However, it is a service in which positive and negative reactions coexist as negative opinions are presented on the deterioration of the quality of public library books due to overlapping needs for desired books by users. Therefore, several ways of improving for local bookstore loan service in public libraries through a survey of public libraries, local bookstores, and users were suggested in this study. The local bookstore direct loan service for users' requests, which is a creative cooperation plan between public libraries and local bookstores, needs to constantly improve its services by increasing book purchase cost, organizing a steering committee for continuous communication and collecting plans through research on the book purchase cost. Also, it is necessary to improve its services by enacting regulations expanding reading culture services expanding the number of healthy users and fostering various local bookstores.

'주5일근무제(이하 '주5일제')와 도서관'이 왜 지금 이 시점에 우리 도서관계의 이슈가 되고 있는가. 왜냐하면 지난해 9월 근로기준법이 개정되면서 이제까지는 자율적으로 실시해오던 주5일제가 앞으로는 반드시 지켜야 할 제도가 되었으며, 그 시행 시점이 바로 2004년 7월이기 때문이다. 7월이라면 이제 얼마 남지 않았는데 도서관계의 논의는 과연 어느 단계에 와 있는 것일까. 우리 "도서관문화" 편집팀은 이번 4월호에서 "주5일제와 도서관"을 두고 우리 도서관계 현장에서 지난 몇 년간 무엇을 고민해왔으며 또한 그 고민을 해결하기 위해 현재 어떤 대비책을 마련하고 있는지를 알아보고자 한다. 이번 시도가 도서관계의 주5일제 대비 방안 마련의 기초적인 자료가 될 수 있기를 희망한다.

지난 4월 6일 마포 홀리데이인 호텔에서는 책자판기 사업설명회가 개최되었다. 김&정 출판 컨설팅社와 희망과 재미社가 주최한 이번 행사에는 많은 관계자들이 참석하여 새로운 책자판기 사업에 대한 뜨거운 관심을 반영케 했다. 이 사업이 무엇보다 관심을 집중시키는 것은 자판기만의 전용 콘텐츠가 다양하게 구비된다는 점이다. 즉 일반 서점이나 온라인 유통에서 취급하지 않은 자판기만의 도서 콘텐츠를 가지고 승부를 한다는 점이 획기적이다. 이러한 방식은 세계 최초의 의미 있는 시도로 많은 화제를 불러일으키고 있다. 차별화된 도서 유통과 콘텐츠로 승부하는 참신한 책자판기 사업. 관심이 집중되고 있는 그 뉴트랜드 제품의 전모를 살펴봤다.

저무는 69년과 더불어 60년대를 보내게 되었다. 우리 나라에 있어 60년대는 번영을 위한 자각과 격동, 그리고 진보의 토대를 다지는 때였다고 생각한다. 또한 우리 도서관계는 1956년경 근대적인 도서관학이 도입된 이래 15,6년의 세월이 흘렀고, 그동안 여러 가지 일들을 하고 또 자라 왔다. 따라서 우리관계는 우리의 자세와 방향조차 미처 가늠하지 못하든 초창기의 몇 해를 제하면 60년대는 우리네 역사의 전부인 것도 사실이라고 하겠다. 또한 우리의 희망과 목표를 향한 몸부림의 전부였다고 생각한다. 그런 의미에서 60년대를 회고하고,공과를 반성 정리해 보고 그리고 앞으로 몇날 후에 닥쳐올 70년대를 어떻게 맞을 것인가를 모색해 보는 것은 대단히 바람직한 일이라고 생각한다
