Development and Application of STEAM Education Program based on Topic-specific Project (주제중심 프로젝트 기반 STEAM 교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용)

  • For this study, we reviewed theoretical background of STEAM education and domestic and international studies in STEAM education, by doing so, we developed and applied the STEAM education program based on topic-specific project. This program is designed for the 3rd and 4th lesson of 6th graders' science in elementary school. As a result, the positive attitude about science of the students who went through the researched program increased with meaningful difference compared to that of the sample population. The result of this study shows that the STEAM education program based on topic-specific project can brings positive changes for the science-related affective domains.

Usefulness of Color Contrast Class Using Entry Software (앤트리를 활용한 색채대비 수업의 효용성)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the usefulness of color contrast program for 50 high school students through comparing the traditional class and the class using the entry software : understanding, utilization, satisfaction, and interest. The results of the study were as follows: First, in the case of the class results, there were no limitations on colors due to materials in the class using the entry software, so students used various colors that match the theory. Second, the activity class using the entry software showed a positive response in terms of utilization, satisfaction, and interest except for the comprehension area, compared to the traditional class using the paper activity. Therefore, this study proved the effectiveness of the practice activity using the entry software in the color management class.

Is Grit Different from Passion? Assessing Cross-Cultural Differences Through the Use of Multiple-Group Factor Analysis (그릿(Grit)과 열정은 변별되는가? 다집단요인분석을 이용한 비교문화 연구)

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the discrimination between grit and passion; and to compare the relationship between grit and passion between eastern and western culture. The participants were 208 Korean and 251 American undergraduates. Multiple-group factor analysis confirmed the model of four (consistency of interest, perseverance of efforts, harmonious passion, and obsessive passion) factors by configural invariance and partial measurement invariance. Also we found positive correlation between consistency of interest and harmonious passion as well as negative correlation between consistency of interest and obsessive passion in the American sample. However, the correlation between grit(consistency of interest, perseverance of efforts) and passion(harmonious passion, obsessive passion) was not significant in the Korean sample. The results suggest that grit is not accompanied by passion among Korean university students. Findings empirically highlight the distinctiveness of grit and passion and the possibility of cultural differences in grit and passion, which were usually discussed western cultures.

  • Speaking skill is an important quality in expressing oneself in school life. Quite a few students experience difficulties at school because of the lack of adequate speaking ability. In order to help them, a Web-based speaking enhancement system is designed and developed using computers equipped with multimedia devices with which students can practice speaking while they are observing graphical representation of voices, which is to cause interest and voluntary participation in the learning activity. The learning system was tested on a group of 44 students of 4th grade in an elementary school. The students were divided into three smaller groups in terms of speaking ability. The experiment shows the effectiveness of the system in building speaking ability.

The Control of Inverted Pendulum System Using Approximated Nonlinear Feedback Linearization (근사 비선형 궤환 선형화를 이용한 도립 진자 계통의 제어)

  • The inverted pendulum system has interesting and challenging problems related to robotics and rocket attitude control view of both control theory and applications. Generally approximately linearized plant models are employed to control the system. In this paper a recently developed control theory based on differentiable manifold theory is used to control the inverted pendulum system which is typically nonlinear. First, the nonlinear model is transformed into the approximate feedback linearized system by nonlinear state feedback. Secondly, the linear controller is designed using the pole-placement method for the approximate feedback linearized plant model, the output of which are finally inverse-transformed to yield the control input to the actual system of the inverted pendulum. The proposed method is evaluated by the computer simulation to compare with the 3rd order linearization model.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Mathematics-Learning Theory (수학학습 이론의 효과 고찰)

  • This study is to adjust the Theory in the Mathematics Education, apply it to learning mathematics and to analyse its effectiveness. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, because learning mathematics is hierarchical, teachers must make and use a task analysis table classified by units. Second, development age and the retention of mathematics concepts are intimately associated with cognitive development theory. Third, learning mathematics through cognitive processes enhances a student's scholastic achievement. Fourth, students interests and self-confidence can be enhanced through the presentation of both examples and non-examples. We cannot understand the higher-order concepts of mathematics by only its definitions. The only way of understanding such concepts is to have experience through suitable examples.

  • 학습자들의 효과적인 학습을 위하여 구성주의 학습이론을 바탕으로 웹 기반 코스웨어를 설계하였다. 기존의 학습과정인 교과서, 멀티미어 타이틀, 웹을 기반으로 한 코스웨어 등이 개발되어 교육현장에서 적용되면서 학습자에게 학습 흥미유발 및 교육성취도 등에서 효과가 있는 것으로 많은 연구자료에서 검증되었다. 하지만 기존의 코스웨어들은 하나의 과정으로 순차적이며 단계적인 학습이 이루어지는 단점이 있어 본 논문에서는 이러한 점을 보완하였다. 학습자들이 각자의 경험과 지식에 바탕을 두어 여러 유형의 학습안중에서 각자에 맞는 학습안을 선택하여 학습하도록 하였다. 즉, 기존의 웹 기반 코스웨어의 장점을 살리면서 좀더 학습자에 맞는 웹 기반 코스웨어를 개발하여 적용하였다. 이러한 결과 구성주의 학습이론을 적용한 코스웨어가 학습자 중심의 능동적인 학습을 통해 학습 성취도를 높여주는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Liquid helium is an exciting subject for the study of thermodynamic and transport properties because of its remarkable properties. The viscosity of liquid helium exhibits the abnormal behavior compared to other ordinary liquid. Below the $\lambda$ point liquid $^4He$ becomes superfluid, and it is obviously quite a different phenomenon from the change of liquid $^3He$. The brake theory of viscosity proposed by authors is successfully applied to liquid $^3He$, liquid $^4He$, dense gas and 4He with adjustable parameter $V_s$. The calculation results are satisfactory compared with the observed values.

  • 최근 국가적 차원에서 영어교육에 대한 많은 투자가 이루어지고 있으나 기존의 주입식, 암기식 영어 교육은 회화 실력 향상에 큰 도움을 주지 못하였다. 컴퓨터를 이용한 영어교육 또한 많은 관심을 얻고 있으나 실제 의사소통을 위한 회화 학습에 대한 고려는 깊지 않으며, 주어진 흐름의 대본을 따라 단순히 읽고 반복하는 수준의 시스템만 존재하고 있다. 이러한 학습형태는 흥미 유발 동기가 약하여 사용자로 하여금 장기간 꾸준히 학습하게 만들지 못한다는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제점에 대하여 제2언어 습득 이론에 바탕을 둔 자연어 처리 기반 몰입 환경 영어 교육 시스템을 제안한다. 이는 도메인 확장성이 뛰어난 예제 기반 대화 시스템을 3 차원 가상공간과 결합한 시스템으로 자연스러운 대화를 통한 외국어 회화 연습을 하는 과정에서 학습자의 발화 오류를 분석하고 교육적 피드백을 제공한다. 또한 현실과 비슷한 몰입 환경에서 체험형 기술을 통해 자발적인 학습을 유도하고 집중력, 기억력을 획기적으로 높이고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 영어교육 시스템의 이론적 배경, 예제 기반 대화관리, 시스템 구성요소와 동작에 대하여 중점적으로 기술하였다.

Development and Application of a Mobile Anchor Program based on m-ARCS Model for Improving Concentration of Learning Disorder Students (학습 장애학생의 주의집중향상을 위한 m-ARCS 모형기반 모바일앵커프로그램의 개발과 적용)

  • In this paper, in order to improve concentration of learning disorder students, m-ARCS model is proposed. The m-ARCS model is based on the ARCS model that is the existing representative motivation support model. The model is designed on mobile environment, and to provide motivation and concentration to learning disorder students by allowing students to engage in various real-life activities. Based on the proposed m-ARCS model, a mobile anchor program is designed and implemented. The followings are concluded after applying the mobile anchor program to learning disorder students. First, students are highly motivated and concentrated by the program. Second, students gain confidence by feeling of success during their study. Third, their basic study ability is improved via the mobile anchor program activities
