Starting Transients in Dual-Mode Scramjet Engine (이중 모드 스트램제트 엔진의 시동 천이 과정)

  • A high-resolution numerical study is carried out to investigate the transient process of the combustion and the shock-train developments in an ethylene-fueled direct-connect dual-mode scramjet combustor. Following the fuel injection, air-throttling is applied at the expansion part of the combustor to provide mass addition to block the flow to subsonic speed. The ignition occurs several ms later when the fuel and air are mixed sufficiently. The pressure build up by the combustion leads to the shock train formation in the isolator section that advances to the exit of the intake nozzle. Then, the air-throttling is deactivated and the exhaust process begins and the situation before the air-throttling is restored. Present simulation shows the detailed processes in the dual-mode scramjet combustor for better understanding of the operation regimes and characteristics.

Performance of Humidifying Element Made of Cellulose and PET Composite (셀룰로오스와 PET 복합체로 만들어진 가습소자의 가습성능)

  • To control the indoor humidity, humidifier is installed in an air handling unit. Up to now, foreign product made of glasswool has been widely used as a humidifying element. In this study, a new humidifying element made of cellulose and PET was tested, and the performance was compared with Glasdek element, which is made of glasswool. Mass transfer rates and pressure drops were measured from the element which was installed at the entrance of the suction-type wind tunnel. Results show that, $j_m$ and f factors of the new element are 33%~39% larger and 0%~51% smaller than those of Glasdek. Large water absorption capacity and the smoothness of the new element appear to be responsible for the large $j_m$ and small f factor. The mass transfer effectivenesses ($j_m/f^{1/3}$) of the new element are 36%~63% larger than those of Glasdek.

  • We present a design methodology for horizontal-axis tidal turbine blades based on blade element momentum theory, which has been used for aerodynamic design and power-performance analysis in the wind-energy industry. We design a 2-blade-type 1 MW HATT blade, which consists of a single airfoil (S814), and we present the detailed design parameters in this paper. Tidal turbine blades can experience cavitation problems at the blade-tip region, and this should be seriously considered during the early design stage. We perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations considering the cavitation model to predict the power performance and to investigate the flow characteristics of the blade. The maximum power coefficient is shown to be about 47 under the condition where TSR = 7, and we observed cavitation on the suction and pressure sides of the blade.

Manufacturing Method of Red Ginseng Extract Pills by Centrifugal Coating Granulating System (원심분리 코팅방식을 이용한 홍삼농축액 환의 제조방법)

  • The centrifugal coating granulating system, a new method of preparing red ginseng extract pills, has been developed. The red ginseng extract was first powdered with 85.5% of edible ethanol and dried for 3 to 4 hours at 50$^{\circ}C$. The powders were fed in chamber of centrifugal coating granulating system and then granulated, sequentially. The centrifugal system operated at 20 to 50$^{\circ}C$ of inlet temperature, 1 to 1,000 g/min of feeding speed, 60 to 70$^{\circ}C$ of atmosphere temperature of intake, 3.0 to 4.0 bar of spray atmosphere pressure, 1,000 to 1,500 rpm of centrifugal plate speed and 25 to 40$^{\circ}C$ of outlet temperature. The product yield was about 85% and preparation time was 7 to 8 hours. Especially, major ginsenoside components of red ginseng were not decomposed after processing of red ginseng extract pill.

  • An ejector is a machine utilized for mixing fluid, maintaining a vacuum, and transporting fluid. The Ejector enhances system efficiency, are easily operated, have a mechnically simple structure, and do not require a power supply. Because of these advantages, the ejector has been applied to a variety of industrial fields such as refrigerators, power plants and oil plants. In this work, an ejector was used to safely recycle anode tail gas in a 5 kW Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell system at KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute). In this system, the ejector is placed at mixing point between the anode tail gas and the cathode tail gas or the fresh air. Commercial ejectors are not designed for the actual operating conditions for our fuel cell system. A new ejector was therefore designed for use beyond conventional operating limits. In this study, the entrainment ratio is measured according to the diametrical ratio of nozzle to throat in the designed ejector. This helps to define important criteria of ejectors for MCFC recycling.

Ignition of Fuel-rich Propellant Coated with Ignition Support Material in the Ramjet Combustor Condition (램젯 연소실 조건에서 점화보조제가 도포된 Fuel-rich 추진제의 점화)

  • Ignition test of the fuel-rich propellant coated with ignition support material in the ramjet combustor condition was conducted. Ignition delay and flame holding was measured. Fuel grain consist of HTPB mixed with AP particle 15 wt.%, Al particle 5 wt.%. To cause the short ignition delay, ignition support consist of $NC/BKNO_3$ and composite propellant was coated to the fuel grain. Ethanol blended $H_2O_2$ gas generator control the temperature, pressure, $O_2$ concentration in the oxidizer gas in the air. Gas is supplied with mass flux of $200kg/m^2s$. Through the test ignition support operated well and ignition delay of 0.6 second and the Flame was sustained.

Combustion Test for a Supersonic Combustor Using a Direct-Connected Facility (직결형 설비를 이용한 초음속 연소기 연소 시험)

  • A combustion test for a supersonic combustor was conducted using a direct-connected type supersonic combustor test facility. The facility was verified for the capability of simulating required flow conditions. The test condition was maintained at Mach 2.0, $915^{\circ}C$ and 496 kPa for 15 s. Using gaseous hydrogen as the fuel, the combustor model was also tested for its ignition and flame holding capability at the fuel equivalence ratio of 0.12. Combustion efficiency was 71%, and the supersonic flow regime was obtained at this test condition.

  • 본 고에서는 지진해석과 관련하여 가장 중요한 원칙과 해석법에 대한 개략을 제시하여 철근콘크리트 구조물의 지진해석과 관련된 용어 및 특수과제를 언급하고자 한다. 이 해석의 위력이나 매력적인 점에도 불구하고 지진응답에 대한 해석은 항상 많은 불확실성에 부닥칠 수 있다는 것을 강조하고자 한다. 해석은 설계과정의 한 단계에 불과하여 수많은 컴퓨터 출력 페이지가 빈틈없는(sound) 기술적 판단을 대신하여서는 안된다. 구조물에 있어서의 지진력은 외부에서 가해진 하중으로부터 발생하는 것이 아니다. 구조물에 압력 및 흡입력으로 작용하는 풍하중과는 달리, 구조물의 기저(base)에서의 주기적 운동에 의한 응답으로서 상부구조물은 가속도를 받게 되고 따라서 관성력으로서 지진력이 얻어지게 된다. 지진응답은 기본적으로 동적인 성질을 가지며 고유주기와 감쇠와 같은 동적 특성은 이 응답을 결정하는데 결정적인 역할을 한다. 만약 지진해석이 실제적인 것이 되자면, 단순화된 방식으로라도 이러한 동적 특성을 고려할 수 있는 것이어야 한다. 이러한 동적 성질이 복잡성의 한 요인이며, 다른 요인으로서 해석적 장애가 존재한다. 대부분의 구조물은 최대지진에 대하여 상당한 항복현상을 나타냄으로써 저항하도록 설계하고 있다. 따라서 설계자는 최대지진에 대한 구조물의 비선형 동적 거동에 대하여 어느 정도 이해를 하고 있어야 한다. 원칙적으로 이것은 매우 복잡하고 어려운 해석적 문제를 제기하게 된다. 실제로는 매우 단순화된 해석법, 적절한 설계 및 상세의 조합만으로도 만족스러운 거동을 얻는 것에 부족함이 없다. 어쨌든 이러한 해석기법의 바탕과 한계를 이해하는 것은 필수적이다.tidyl ethanolamine$(20.9{\sim}29.7%)$, phosphatidyl inositol$(18.4{\sim}26.1%)$ 순으로 많았다. 각 구성지질의 지방산조성은 4종의 버섯 공히 linoleic acid와 palmitic acid가 주요 지방산이었으나 싸리버섯은 중성지질에서 oleic acid의 함량이 높았다.n the part of special landscape management area, it is necessary to introduce landscape impact assessment system to more effective landscape management.ch served as supporting organizations.   • The reciprocating compressor is widely used in the industry field, because it has simple principle and high efficiency. In this work, in order to improve design of discharge passage line in hydrogen compression system Numerical analysis was conducted. General information about an internal gas flow is presented by numerical analysis approach. Relating with hydrogen compressing system, which have an important role in hydrogen energy utilization, this should be a useful tool to observe the flow quickly and clearly. Flow characteristic analysis, including velocity, pressure and turbulence kinetic energy distribution of hydrogen gas going out from the cylinder to discharge-path line are presented in this paper. Discharge-passage model is designed based on real model of hydrogen compressor. Pressure boundary conditions are applied considering the real condition of operating system. The result shows velocity, pressure and turbulent kinetic energy are not distributed uniformly along the passage of the Hydrogen system. Path line or particles tracks help to demonstrate flow characteristics inside the passage. The existence of vortices and flow direction can be precisely predicted. Based on this result, the design improvement might be done.

High Altitude Simulating Test Facility Design Using Vacuum Pump System (진공펌프 시스템을 이용한 고도모의 시험장치 설계)

  • In this research, a high altitude simulating test facility is designed using vacuum pump system composed of roots pumps and screw pumps. Air flow rate and chamber pressure are 1 kg/s and 2500 Pa, respectively. To design the test facility, experimental tests using certain pump combinations are performed for air injection of the order of hundreds of g/s. From the tests, it is found that 11 roots pumps and 33 screw pumps are required for the considered test facility. Test results are compared with theoretically estimated values. However, intake capacity theoretically estimated is found to be 20 percent larger than test results. This is thought because of higher pressure difference of roots pump for test conditions. Therefore, if more screw pumps are added for the considered pump system, it would be possible to lower the vacuum level of test chamber.
