Optical memory in photopolymers and rare-earth ion-doped glasses using two-photon absorption (포토폴리머와 희토류이온이 첨가된 유리에서의 이광자흡수를 이용한 광정보저장)

  • We studied feasibility of three-dimensional optical memory by utilizing femtosecond laser-induced changes of transmission in photopolymers and photoluminescence in Eu and Sm ion doped sodium borate glasses. We produced transmission change by two photon absorption and obtained sub-Um size spots in photopolymers using 780 nm modelocked Ti-sapphire laser pulses. We also changed valence state of Eu and Sm ions by multi-photon absorption and achieved $\~{\mu}m$ sized spot formation in Sm-doped glasses.

  • 아직까지 우리나라에서 폴리머 시멘트 콘크리트가 콘크리트와 같이 광범위하게 사용되고 있는 것은 아니지만 건설재료로서의 사용이 증가하는 추세에 있다. 폴리머 콘크리트의 제조에는 결합재로서 물이나 시멘트가 전혀 사용되지 않고 수지(resin)만을 사용한다. 각종 수지가운데 많이 이용되고 있는 것은 에폭시 수지, 불포화 폴리에스테르 수지, 우레탄 수지, 퓨란 수지 등이 있다. 그러나 원료사정이 국가마다 다르기 때문에 폴리머 콘크리트의 결합재로 사용되는 액상수지 역시 차이가 있다. 우리나라의 경우는 에폭시수지, 불포화 폴리에스테르 수지 및 우레탄 수지가 주로 사용되고 있으며, 가까운 일본의 경우는 폴리머 콘크리트의 결합재로서 워커 빌리티, 저온경화성, 내후성 등이 우수한 메타크릴산 메틸도 사용되고 있다. 또한 폴리머 모르타르 및 콘크리트의 경화반응에 방해를 주지 않도록 충전재 및 골재 등은 건조시켜 함수율이 0.5 % 이하가 되도록 사용하고 있으나, 지금은 흡수제, 가교제 등의 혼화재료가 개발되어 함수율을 3% 까지 허용하고 있으며, 지금까지 불가능하게 생각되었던 폴리머 콘크리트에 대한 레디믹스트 콘크리트(레미콘) 개발도 흥미를 끌고 있다.(중략)

  • In the search for broadband damping composites, it is desirable to have polymers with a broad and high loss region, covering the entire temperature and frequency range of interest. Interpenetrating polymer networks, IPN's, are materials composed of two or more crosslinked polymers intimately and irrevocably interwinded. The resulting distribution of microenviron-ments can result in a materials with a high mechanical loss broad end over that of either polymer component alone. In this study, several series of copolymer, crosslinked copolymer and copolymer/copolymer IPN's were synthesized for possible use as broadband damping materials. Then their dynamic tensile properties were measured and compared with the damping properties of sandwich composites. Dynamic mechanical analysis showed that the temperature of loss peak may be varied over a wide temperature range with formulation. The compatibility of IPN`s was depended on the compatibility of A and B polymers as well as crosslink density. The damping factor(tan ${\delta}_c$) of composites became greater when a polymer of approximate storage module(E`) range of 5X10$^7$ to 10$^9$ dyne/cm$^2$ and large tan ${\delta}$ at the same time was used. The damping properities of poly (2-EHA80-co-St20)/poly(2-EHA20-co-St80) IPN`s crosslinked with 3%-DEGDM were relatively better over a broad temperature range.

  • Donor-$\pi$-acceptor (D-$\pi$-A) type chromophore-based polymers were newly synthesized. These polymers exhibited absorption peak due to intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) in a visible range as well as absorption peak due to carbonyl group in both solution and film state by measuring UV visible spectra. The addition of $Eu^{3+}$ ion into the polymers induced red-shift in absorption due to ICT and the color changes from yellow to red in the solution and film were observed by naked eyes. The contents of crosslinking agent influenced the features and solubility of the polymers. In addition, the contents of crosslinking agent and the $Eu^{3+}$ ion addition improved film-forming ability.

  • Test specimens of polymer-cement concrete composites were prepared using styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex, ethylenevinyl acetate(EVA) and polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsions as polymer dispersions in cement modified system at constant slump($10{\pm}0.5cm$), then compressive and flexural strengths water absorption, pore size distribution, and microstructures were investigated. Compressive and flexural strengths of these composites were remarkably improved with an increase of polymer-cement ratio. These composites had a desirable pore size distribution against frost damage due to a small capillary pore volume. Continuous polymer film was able to form in higher than 15% of polymer cement ratio.

  • 폴리머를 이용한 광통신 소자는 실리카를 재료로 사용하는 소자와는 달리 고품질의 박막을 얻는 과정이 단순하고, 소자의 제조단가를 줄일 수 있어 많은 주목을 받고 있다 광통신 소자에 응용되는 여러 폴리머 중에서도 폴리이미드는 PMMA (Poly Methyl MethAcrylate) 등 다른 고분자 물질에 비해서 매우 높은 열적 및 환경적 안정성을 가지고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 또한 최근에는 폴리이미드가 가지는 단점인 복굴절과 흡수를 낮추기 위하여 불소기 등을 함유한 폴리이미드가 개발되었으며, 굴절률 조정 또한 용이하게 되었다.
