Estimating Hydrodynamic Coefficients with Various Trim and Draught Conditions (흘수 및 트림 변화를 고려한 선박 유체력 미계수 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Draught and trim conditions are highly related to the loading condition of a vessel and are important factors in predicting ship manoeuverability. This paper estimates hydrodynamic coefficients from sea trial measurements with three different trim and draught conditions. A mathematical optimization method for system identification was applied to estimate the forces and moment acting on the hull. Also, fast time simulation software based on the Rheinmetall Defense model was applied to the whole estimation process, and a 4,500 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) class container carrier was chosen to collect sets of measurement data. Simulation results using both optimized coefficients and newly-calculated coefficients for validation agreed well with benchmark data. The results show mathematical optimization using sea measurement data enables hydrodynamic coefficients to be estimated more simply.

  • In order to understand the characteristics of floating breakwaters we planned series of experimental and numerical investigations and completed the first stage which is the experiment with fred pontoons near the free surface. As controlling parameters the draft and breadth of pontoon were varied and the wave frequency and steepness were also varied. Wave transmission and forces exiled on the breakwater were experimentally investigated and compared with the results computed based on linear potential theory. Discussions made are on the effect of draft and wave length on the wave transmission and force in fixed pontoon case. The predicted and measured results show quantitatively good agreement both in forces and transmission coefficient. The effect of separation distance between two pontoons on the wave transmission and force in array case is also examined.

  • Present study aims to investigate draft effects on hydro-elastic response of pontoon type VLFS(Very Large Floating Structure). A three dimensional higher-order boundary element method(HOBEM: Hong et al;1999, Choi, Hong and Choi; 2001) is extended to analyze elastic response of structures. Intensive numerical calculations were carried out for box type structure to investigate the draft effect on hydrodynamic forces on pontoon type VLFS. Main attention was paid to wave run-up along the waterline for various cases of draft scantling. It is found that the draft effects on the hydro-elastic response of pontoon type VLFS are important especially in short wave range and shallow water region.

  • 부자의 보정계수를 결정하는 방법은 크게 다음과 같이 현행 방법과 WMO 제안 방법으로 구분할 수 있다. 현재 국내에서 적용하고 있는 방법으로 표면부자부터 4.0m부자까지 사용된 부자의 종류에 따라 사전에 정해진 보정계수를 적용한다. WMO에서 제안하고 있는 방법은 해당 하천의 수심과 사용된 부자 흘수(吃水)의 상대적 비로부터 산정되는 보정계수를 적용하는 방법이다. 본 연구는 국내 유량측정기술의 개선을 위한 선행연구로, '07~'08년의 국토해양부 부자 측정성과(86개 지점 788개 유량측정성과)를 현행 방법 및 WMO 제안 방법을 적용하여 산정된 유량을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, WMO 방법을 이용하여 산정된 유량은 각 측정성과별로 현행 방법을 적용하여 산정한 유량 대비 -7.69~+7.20%의 차이를 보였으며, 평균 1.57% 작게 산정되었다. 각 수계별로 한강은 -5.90~+2.55% 범위에서 평균 -2.11%, 낙동강은 -7.69~+7.20% 범위에서 평균 -2.45%, 금강은 -7.39~+7.03% 범위에서 평균 -0.52%, 영산강은 -6.50~+2.58% 범위에서 평균 -1.59% 로 산정되었다. 또한 각 성과에 대해 각 지점의 주요 인자들과의 상관성을 검토한 결과, 산정된 유량의 차이는 지점의 수심에 매우 큰 상관성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 저수심에서는 WMO 방법이 상대적으로 크게 산정되었으며, 고수심에서는 현행 방법을 적용하여 산정한 유량이 상대적으로 크게 나타났다. 특히 약 8m 이상의 수심에서는 보다 큰 차이가 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Functional Improvement of Floating Breakwaters with Long Wave Kinetics (장주기 및 유동성분을 고려한 부유식방파제의 방파성능 개선)

  • In this study, a series of laboratory experiments are carried out to analyze fluid behaviors around multi-arranged (2 pieces) floating breakwaters with various parameters such as distance between structures, wave periods and steepness. The rate of wave transmission is shown to be affected directly by wave periods of incident waves and the breakwaters with multi-arranged structures show the highest rate of wave protection compared with other cases. The velocity fields around the breakwaters are measured by using the Laser Doppler Velocimetry system. The transmission coefficients are also measured in laboratory experiments. Finally, laboratory observed data are compared with numerical experimental results and analyzed in detail.

A Study on the Green Ship Design for Ultra Large Container Ship (대형 컨테이너 운반선의 그린쉽 설계에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the green ship design for Ultra Large Container Ship (ULCS, 18,000 TEU Class Container Ship) was performed based on the four step procedures of the initial design and hull form optimization to maximize economic and propulsive performance. The first, the design procedure for ULCS was surveyed with economic evaluation considering environmental rules and regulations. The second, the characteristics of single and twin skeg container ships were investigated in view of initial design and performances. The third, the hull form optimization for single and twin skeg ships with the same dimensions was conducted to improve the resistance and propulsive performances at design draught and speed by several variations and the results of the optimization were verified by numerical calculations of CFD and model test. The last, for the estimated operating profile of draught and speed, the hull forms of single and twin sked ships were optimized by CFD. From this study, the methodologies to optimize the hull form of ULCS were proposed with considerations during the green ship design and the improvement of the energy efficiency for the optimized hull forms was confirmed by the proposed formula of the total energy considering design conditions, operating profile and fuel oil consumption.

  • 본 논문에서는 2개의 랩어라운드 에지를 갖는 m$\times$n(m 2, n$\geq$3, n 흘수) 그리드 그래프에서의 해밀톤 성질을 고려한다. 먼저 그리드 그래프가 해밀톤 연결된(hamiltonian-connected)그래프가 되기 위해 추가로 필요한 에지의 수가 2개 이상임을 보인다. 그리고 m$\times$n 그리드 그래프의 첫 행에 랩어라운드 에지를 추가한 그래프의 해밀톤 성질을 보인 후, m$\times$n 그리드 그래프의 첫 행과 마지막 행에 램어라운드 에지를 추가한 그래프가 해밀톤 연결된 그래프임을 보인다.

Numerical Study on Shape Optimization of a Heaving Hemisphere Wave Energy Converter (상하 운동 반구형 파력 발전기의 최적 형상 조건 수치해석)

  • Parametric study on submerged body shape of an oscillating hemisphere point absorber was conducted to predict the optimal relation between radius and draft of the body. As an additional damping due to power takeoff system, the optimal damping same as wave radiation damping was applied to the PTO system to produce the maximum wave power. Body response spectrum and power spectrum were obtained for various peak frequencies on wave spectra. It was found that the maximum power can be generated when the peak frequency of available wave power was 20% greater than that of wave spectrum.
