A dentigerous cyst is the most common developmental odontogenic cyst. Patients with dentigerous cyst usually feel no pain or discomfort. If it is not treated, tooth eruption might not only be impeded, but also let the tooth translocate to the unusual area. So, early detection and appropriate treatment are important. Enucleation & marsupialization are the best options to treat a dentigerous cyst. Treatment plan depends on patient's age, health, preserve & protect of important structures, and sort of cyst. In these dentigerous cysts cases, by marsupialization and using obturator, affected tooth could be achieved spontaneous eruption into the dental arch even though they were badly dislocated.

Traumatic bone cyst is a nonodontogenic cyst without epithelial-linig which contains fluid in it's cavity, and it is limited by bone walls with no evidence of infection. Traumatic bone cyst is asymptomatic and appears more frequently in the second decade. Gender distribution is approximately equal, although males are affected slightly often than females. Radiographically the lesion shows a well demarcated radiolucent lesion of variable size and the lesion may have scalloped margins. The adjacent teeth to traumatic bone cyst remains vital. Traumatic bone cyst is usually treated by surgical exploration and currettage of the lesion. In the first case of this case report, the patient was refered from the local dental clinic for the radiolucent area under the left mandibular first molar. From the panorama radiograph at the first visit, the radiolucent area of the left mandible showed a well defined scalloped margin and identified as traumatic bone cyst. In the second case, the patient have visited for the chief complaint of swelling and abcess of right maxillary second premolar. In the radiographic check up with panorama radiograph, the radiolucent lesion with well demarcated scalloped margin was found in the right mandible body, and identified as traumatic bone cyst. In the first case, overinstrumentation was done through the mesial root canal to irrigate the lesion. In the second case, not any treatment was done, and watched the progression of the lesion. And in both cases, after two month, the radiolucency and the size of the lesion has decreased to show healing in progress.

This study was aimed to retrospectively evaluate the clinical findings and treatments of odontomas in the Korean demographic group. The subject of the present study included 75 odontomas in 74 patients who received treatment from Chonbuk National University Dental Hospital between April 2005 and March 2014. The average age of the subjects were 10.3 years old (range 3 - 23 years old). 42 (56.8%) males and 32 (43.2%) females were in the present study. It was found that compound odontomas were about 4 times more common than complex odontomas. Odontomas equally occurred in both maxillary and mandible. The impaction of permanent teeth (73.3%) was the most common complication of odontomas on adjacent teeth. Most odontomas (96.0%) were surgically removed either to induce spontaneous eruption or to guide orthodontically to occlusion. When the impacted tooth could not be naturally or forcefully erupted to occlusion, it was extracted. Early detection and treatment of odontomas would increase the possible preservation of the impacted tooth by eliminating the source of disturbance. Therefore, this study recommends that periodic radiographic examination from birth until the eruption of the permanent third molar to prevent possible hindrance to the teeth eruption.

The unicystic ameloblastoma deserves separate consideration on the basis of its clinical, radiologic, and pathologic features and its response to treatment. It refers to those cystic lesions that show clinical, radiographic, or gross features of a jaw cyst, but on histologic examination show a typical ameloblastomatous epithelium lining part of the cyst cavity. The lesion is most commonly found on the mandible posterior area, and often asymptomatic, although large lesions may cause a painless swelling of the jaws. The lesion typically appears as a circumscribed radiolucency that surrounds the crown of an unerupted molar. These are usually considered to be a dentigerous, residual cyst on the relationship of the lesion to teeth in the area. Three histopathologic variants of unicystic ameloblastoma may be seen. 1) Luminal type, 2) Intraluminal type, 3) Mural type. In this case, these tumor was treated as cysts by enucleation with iliac bone graft, and the diagnosis of ameloblastoma is made after microscopic examination of the presumed cyst.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in the mandibular dental arch from presurgical orthodontic treatment and orthognathic surgery, and to evaluate the relationships between the pretreatment records and changes of mandibular dental arch in skeletal Class III malocclusion individuals. Methods: Lateral cephalometric radiographs and mandibular study models of 31 adults with skeletal class III malocclusion were taken and measured. All measurements were evaluated statistically by ANOVA, Scheffe's Post Hoc, and paired t-test, and correlation coefficients were evaluated. Results: No significant difference in Mn-LMMC, Mn-LIE, Mn-MnOcc was detected between pretreatment and presurgical groups. Statistically significant but low correlations were demonstrated between the initial arch length discrepancy (ALD) and change in ICW, IPW1 (r = 0.492, 0.615) and change in arch length (r = 0.641). No association was seen between the initial depth of curve of Spee and change in mandibular incisor angle and arch width or arch length. Regression analysis showed that the amount of change for arch length and IPW1 could be explained by 64.0% and 75.8% of the pretreatment variables respectively. Conclusions: This study suggests that orthognathic surgery results can be predictable by measuring the pretreatment records.

Orbital infection or inflammation is a rare but serious complication of an odontogenic infection. Odontogenic infection can spread to the orbit by one or more of several paths. Such extension is potentially dangerous and can lead to loss of vision or worse. 5-cases of orbital infection and inflammation secondary to infection from upper or lower molar teeth, which extended to the subperiosteal or the retrobulbar region of the orbit, are presented in this report. The infections spreaded to the infratemporal and temporal fossa or the ethmoidal labyrinth, and then to the orbit via the inferior orbital fissure or the lamina papyracea. The clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, route of spread, value of serial CT scanning, treatment and possible complications are reviewed.

Delayed eruption of a maxillary incisor results in midline shift, the space occupied by adjacent teeth and different levels of alveolar height. Extraction or surgical/orthodontic therapy is the most common treatment for a impacted maxillary incisor. Surgical repositioning provides another option for treatment of this problem. The advantages of this approach include immediate esthetic improvement, use of a single and simplified surgical procedure, simple and short orthodontic therapy, a normal gingival margin and the possibility of the developing root adapting to the new position. Autotransplantation of an immature tooth provides for possible adaptation of the developing root apex to the new position. A root with an open apex has good chance of pulp revascularization after transplantation.
Horseshoe Expander is one of Slow Maxillary Expansion(SME) which aims to accommodate the contra- lateral expansion and midpalatal suture expansion or the palate. The appliance consists of skeleton type strew embedded in split Horseshoe appliance. It is the objectives of the presentation to manifest the changes in dental & craniofacial components subsequent to the application of Horseshoe Expander. The subjects for this study consisted of 32 patients (mean age : 12.7). frontal, lateral cephalometric headfilm were taken and study casts were fabricated before and after expansion. 24 items were measured, compared preexpansion with postexpansion. Especially, palatal volume was measured by means of 'Hydro-measurement method'. Tooth axis measurement on the dental casts were made with Universal bevel protractor, and Horseshoe Expander group were compared with RME group. This study of changes to maxillary expansion with Horseshoe Expander revealed the following significant results. 1. Triangular-shaped expansion pattern appeared in frontal cephalometric headfilm. 2. Palatal plane, occlusal plane, mandibular plane and upper incisor to FH increased in lateral cephalometrir headfilm. 3. Palatal volume increased significantly. A slight bite opening, reduction of occlusal contact points showed in dental casts. 4. A 2.2:1 ratio of the amount of intermolar width in maxilla(orthodontic movement) to maxillary width (orthopedic movement) was determined. 5. Horseshoe Expander group has less buccal tipping tendency than RME group, by taking high correlation coefficients in the upper second premolar and first molar. It was suggested that Horseshoe Expander showed less orthodontic changes, less buccal tipping tendency. In addition, it was effective in maxillary expansion.
As Pain is a comprehensive, biopsy chosocial phenomenon, improved understanding and successful management of pain need assessment of health-related quality of life and psychological states. The purpose of this study was to evaluate pain severity and pain-related interference to daily lives for patients with non-dental, orofacial pain(OFP) and a possible relation of OFP with psychological morbidity. Relation with such factors as gender, age, pain duration and diagnosis was also assessed. Inclusion criteria was all new patients with non-dental OFP attending the oral medicine.orofacial pain clinic of Dankook University Dental Hospital over 3 months' period, who completed the questionnaires of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Prior to the first consultation, the patients were asked to fill out the questionnaire in the waiting room and were diagnosed through consultation and clinical examination. Total subjects were 163 with M:F ratio of 1:1.5 and mean age of 34.6${\pm}$17.7 years. Mean duration of pain was 13.3${\pm}$26.2 months and all patients were divided into; Trigeminal Neuralgia group (TN, N=8), Neuropathic Pain group (NeP, N=9), Persistent Idiopathic Facial Pain group (PIFP, N=8), and Temporomandibular Disorders group (TMD, N=138), subdivided into muscle problem (TMD-m, N=73), joint problem (TMD-j, N=24) and muscle-joint combined problem (TMD-c, N=41). OFP patients showed moderate pain severity and moderate pain-related interference. There was no gender difference in overall pain severity and interference and levels of anxiety and depression. Elderly patients aged ${\geq}$ 60 years showed higher pain severity (p<0.05). Patients with chronic pain ${\geq}$ 3 months reported more increased level of anxiety and depression than those with acute pain (p<0.05). Compared to TMD patients, patients with TN, NeP and PIFP suffered from higher level of pain and pain-related interference and reported higher level of anxiety and depression (p<0.05). Pain interference was closely correlated with their pain severity and with psychometric properties such as anxiety and depression. Pain severity was weakly correlated with levels of anxiety and depression. The results suggest a need for psychosocial assessment and support for successful management of OFP in addition to control of pain itself.
As a research method that weighs and combines evidence, meta analysis produces evidence that is more powerful than the original studies. The purpose of this study was to compare the jntercanine/intermolar expansion and rapid/slow expansion in the maxillary expansion treatment using meta analysis. Medline was searched from 1979 to 2000 for all studies examining the stability of transverse expansion of the human maxilla, and 388 articles were found. Then these articles were reduced to 7 based on the defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a cumulative Meta evaluation score was computed for each study. The results were as follows; 1. The mean expansion in intermolar width was 6.0mm. of the 6.0mm, 4.8mm was retained and $20.0\%(1.2mm)$ was relapsed while wearing retainers. 2. In intercanines width, the mean expansion was 3.7mm. of the 3.7mm, 2.6mm was retained and $29.7\%(1.1mm)$ was relapsed while wearing retainers. 3. The differences In the amount of expansion and relapse between rapid expansion group and slow expansion group were less than $6\%(0.1-0.3mm)$. But, there might be differences in the skeletal/dental exapnsion ratios according to the expansion method.
