Analysis on Roll Damping Induced by Propulsion Jet of Rolling Airframe Missile (회전 유도탄의 추진 제트에 의한 롤 댐핑 해석)

  • Between rolling airframe missile and swirling propulsion jet passing through convergent-divergent nozzle of the rocket motor, occur exchanges of angular momentum which result in the increase of roll speed of the missile. This phenomena in called jet roll damping. In the study jet roll damping was formulated from conservation equation of angular momentum. And the maximum value of the jet roll damping of KPSAM was estimated with assumed swirl velocity distribution at nozzle exit and compared with result of computation of axisymmetric compressible turbulent nozzle flow.

  • 본 연구는 고추분쇄용 세라믹 롤 분쇄기를 이용하여 고춧가루 생산시, 분쇄효율을 향상시키고자 기존의 롤 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s)에서 80rpm(0.704%)으로 증가시키고, 기존의 롤 회전비 2:1에서 5:1로 증가시켜 고추분쇄시 전단력 증가로 분쇄능을 향상시켰고, 연구 내용의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 세라믹치형롤 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s)에서는 롤 회전비 2:1에서 1,190$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 32.7%, 590$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 19.7%였고, 롤 회전비를 5:1로 증가시 590$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 30.9%, 420$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 17.2%로 중간 미분쇄 영역의 분포가 증가하여 미분쇄 효율이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. 2. 분쇄물의 롤 통과횟수에 따른 분쇄능은 세라믹치형롤 모두 분쇄속도 80rpm(0.704m/s)에서 분쇄물의 미분쇄능이 향상되었고, 분쇄생성물의 임계처리 횟수가 3~4차임을 분석할 수 있었다. 3. 보통 고춧가루를 생산하는데 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s), 80rpm(0.704m/s), 두 롤의 회전비 2:1, 3:1, 4:1하에서는 생산되지 않았으나, 롤 회전비 5:1에서는 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s)일 경우 7차 분쇄후에, 분쇄속도 80rpm(0.704m/s)일 경우 5차분쇄후에 생성되어 분쇄처리횟수가 2회정도 단축되어 전단력 증가로 인하여 분쇄능이 향상된 것으로 분석되었다. 4. 기존의 고춧가루 분쇄조건인 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s), 롤 회전비 2:1보다 본 연구에서 개발한 분쇄속도 80rpm(0.704m/s), 롤 회전비 5:1인 분쇄조건이, 분쇄처리 횟수 단축 등이 분석됨으로서 섬유질이 많이 포함된 고춧가루 등의 재료가공 분쇄기술이 향상된 것으로 분석되었다.. 마늘재배 일관기계화에 의한 노동투하시간과 비용 -종자준비부터 통마늘선별까지의 일관기계화로 투입된 주요작업의 노력은 75∼76%가 절감되고, 재배규모 3ha기준시 비용은 44-53%절감되었음. the annealing texture.   • The purpose of this research is to determine the dynamic roll-damping data of a spinning projectile in wind-tunnel testing. In the present work, the high-speed wind-tunnel tests for the roll-damping measurements were conducted on a spin-stabilized projectile model in the Agency for Defense Development's Tri-Sonic Wind Tunnel at spin rates about 12,000 rpm. The test Mach numbers ranged from 0.7 to 1.05, and the angles of attack ranged from -4 to +10 deg. The validity of the wind-tunnel measurement techniques was evaluated by comparing them with the previous test results on the same configuration.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the dynamic roll-damping characteristics of a spin-stabilized projectile in wind-tunnel testing. In the present work, the high-speed wind-tunnel tests for the roll-damping measurements were conducted on a finned spin-stabilized projectile model in the Agency for Defense Development's Trisonic Wind Tunnel at spin rates about 8,000 rpm. The test Mach numbers ranged from 0.6 to 0.9, and the angles of attack ranged from 0 to +15 deg. The evaluation of the bearing friction parameter was also conducted to eliminate the tare damping moment from the aerodynamic damping moment.

  • For simulation of a fin unfolding motion for the various aerodynamic conditions, equations and moments applying to the unfolding fin were modelled. Aerodynamic roll moment consists of the static roll moment and the damping moment, which were obtained through wind tunnel tests and numerical analyses respectively. Panel method was used to compute the roll damping coefficient with deflected fin, whose angle was equivalent to angle of attack due to the deployment motion. Roll damping coefficient is a function of angle of attack, sideslip angle, and deployment angle but not of angular velocity of deployment. Simulation with aerodynamic damping model gave more similar deployment time compared to fin deployment test results.

  • In this paper, a roll angle estimation method of a rolling airframe using a low grade GPS and a roll rate gyro is proposed. The strength of the received signal of the GPS antenna attached on the rolling airframe is maximized when the GPS satellite is placed on the plane determined by the x-axis of the rolling airframe and the GPS antenna axis. Under the assumption that the x-axis of the rolling airframe is coincident with its velocity vector, the roll angle of the rolling airframe is calculated from the relative position vector of the satellite to the GPS when the GPS signal strength becomes maximum. The Kalman filter combined with a roll rate gyro is introduced to increase the determination accuracy of the roll angle. The performance of the proposed method is verified via 6-DOF simulations.

  • This study focuses on the state space model and the design of a state observer for the slip dynamics between rolls in STS cold cluster mills. First, a mathematical model of the roll slip is given as a nonlinear differential equation. Then, by using a Taylor series expansion, it is linearized as a state space model. Next, by using Gopinath's algorithm, a minimal-order state observer based on the state space model is designed to estimate the angular speed of all idle rolls except for an actuated roll that is measureable. Finally, a computer simulation is used to validate that the proposed state space model very well describes slip dynamics between, and moreover, the state observer very well estimates the angular speed of the idle roll.

  • This tutorial summarizes the coordinate transforms for formulating geophysical problems. To ensure mathematical consistency, this discussion begins with the right-hand rule. Further, the concepts of active and passive transforms are introduced. By extending these concepts, the coordinate transform and its inverse between two coordinates are related to the matrix transpose. The yaw-pitch-roll rotation and the azimuth-deviation-tool face rotation transforms are described as the most frequently used schemes, and the relation between the Rodrigues' rotation formula and these two transforms are mathematically explained. The "Gimbal Lock" problem inherent in yaw-pitch-roll rotation is schematically presented and mathematically derived. As a useful tool overcome this problem, the principle and usage of the quaternion is also described.

  • During the process of oxide removal from work rolls in sheet metal manufacture, filamentary brushes frequently exhibit a bouncing or chatter behavior. The dynamics of this phenomenon is investigated through the development of expressions for the non-linear contact stiffness between the brush and the roll. With formulation of simple structural models, the time responses in the presence and absence of friction under random excitation are investigated. Possible solutions for the minimization or avoidance of this bouncing or chatter problem are also suggested.

  • It is important to analyze the dynamic behavior of counter-rotating rigid/deformable rolls in the roll-coating process, because the stability of the process is affected by the dynamic characteristics. In the present study, the effects of material property, angular velocity, and gap size on the contact pressure and contact shape of the deformable roll are numerically investigated. The behavior of two rolls with a negative gap was analyzed using the finite element method, and the material property of the deformable roll was applied with the Mooney-Rivlin coefficients of the hyper-elastic model. The contact shape is affected by the gap size, and the contact pressure mainly depends on the stiffness of the deformable roll and the gap size. To maintain a negative gap between two rolls, controls such as load and displacement controls must be used. The results indicate that displacement control can reduce the instability.
