Design of a Carrier Recovery Loop with Minimum Phase Rotation (Phase Rotation 방지를 위한 Carrier Recovery Loop의 설계)

  • Phase rotational is a practical problem in the implementation of coherent demodulation. Large phase noise may intorduce phase rotation in the demodulator which results in repeated decision errors. This paper presents a simple and yet very efficient technique in building a carrier recovery loop which minimizes the phase rotation by improving the stability of the decision-directed carrier recovery loop. Simulation shows this novel technique improves the performance of the carrier recovery loop as well as stability.

Reliability Test of the TEM Rotation Holder for 3-D Structure Analysis (3차원적 구조분석을 위한 TEM Rotation Holder의 신뢰도 점검)

  • Accuracy and precision of the goniometer and the specimen holder should be measured and corrected to improve reliability of 3-D structure analysis using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In this study, we described the operation principle and performance of the Gatan rotation holder. Through analysis of the images taken inside the microscope, rotation angles were measured within the accuracy of ${\pm}0.42^{\circ}$. For comparison the rotation angles were measured outside the microscope using a home-made measurement tool, which resulted in the accuracy of ${\pm}0.6^{\circ}$. Additionally, we found abnormal specimen drifts during rotation probably due to the unstable engagement between the specimen cup and the rotation belt.

  • Non-orthogonal multiple access is the promised candidates in the next generation wireless networks to improve the spectral efficiency by superposing multiple signals. In general, the superposition coding is performed using the difference in channel gain between users based on the user's power allocation. However, when user pairs have the similar channel gain problem, NOMA can not be allowed in the scenario. To overcome this problem, phase rotation based NOMA is presented to increase minimum distance between superposed signals in the constellation point. This paper proposed a novel non-orthogonal multiple access based index modulation using phase rotation. The additional bits can transfer using the index bits that is allocated according to the activated state of the phase rotation. Simulation results are shown that bit error rate and achievable sum rate are better than conventional NOMA.

  • 본 논문은 제약되지않은 카메라에서 얻은 영상중 회전과 크기 변화를 가진 두 장의 디지털 영상을 자동적으로 하나의 통합된 영상으로 모자이킹 하는 방법에 대해 기술한다. 기존에 제시되었던 영상 모자이킹 방법은 영상의 중첩 영역이 많이 존재하거나 회전이 거의 없는 경우만을 고려하고, 카메라 제약이 많이 존재하였다. 우선, 한 쌍의 영상으로부터 각각 특징점을 찾고, 각 특징 점에 대하여 위상을 측정하여 계층적으로 매칭을 하는 방법을 제안한다. 다음으로 비선형 이승오차 최적화 알고리즘을 이용해 최적의 변환행렬을 구한후 , 변환 행렬에 대해 하나의 영상을 만들어내는 과정을 기술한다.

  • 링레이저 자이로스코프(Ring Laser Gyroscope-이하 RLG)는 비행기, 유도무기, 선박, 지상무기 등의 관성항법장치(Inertial Navigation System)에 사용되는 각속도 센서로서 항체의 위치와 자세 정보를 제공하는 핵심 구성품 중의 하나이다. 각속도 검출 원리는 삼각형 또는 사각형의 공진기에 He과 Ne을 혼합한 이득매질을 사용하여 서로 반대방향으로 회전하는 두 개의 레이저 빔을 발생시켜서 Sagnac 효과에 의해 외부의 회전 입력을 받을 때 서로 다른 광 경로의 차이로 인한 두 빔의 간섭으로 회전각을 검출한다.   • This paper deals with correction of frequency offset and analysis of quantization angle noise in the IEEE 802.1la OFDM system. The rotation phase per symbol due to the carrier frequency offset is estimated from auto-correlation of the short Preambles, which are over-sampled for the reduction of noise in OFDM signals. The pilot signals are introduced to estimate the rotation phase per OFDM symbol due to estimation error of the carrier frequency offset and the sampling frequency onset. During the estimation and correction of the frequency onsets, a CORDIC processor and a look-up table are used for the conversion between a rotation phase and its complex number. Being calculated by a limited number of bits in the CORDIC processor and the look-up table, the rotation phase and its complex number have quantization angle errors. The quantization errors are analyzed as SNR (signal to noise ratio) due to the quantization bit numbers. The minimum bit number is suggested to meet the specification of IEEE 802.1la properly. Finally, the quantization errors are evaluated through simulations on number of quantization bits and SNR of received signals.

  • This paper proposes a control method for a differential robot to track and follow a moving object based on ultrasonic sensor. To track a target object, the method uses a transmitter and two receivers to get distances from the object. The method derives translational and rotational error by the distances and then it uses the errors to calculate control values based on PID control method. The control values are used to control the robot to follow moving object. The authors do some experimentations to analyze some characteristics such as influence of PID gain, influence of translational and rotational gain. This method not only can be applied for following moving object problem but also can be done group unit control problems.

A Comparison Analysis of the Feeding Method for the Uniform Mixing Rate of the Liquid Silicone Materials (액상실리콘 재료의 균일한 혼합비율을 위한 이송방식에 대한 비교 분석)

  • In this paper, in order to compare the mixing ratio according to the feeding method, the input error of the main material and the sub material was measured and analyzed for 100 cycles using raw material having the same viscosity. As a result of the piston pump method, the input error of main material and sub material varied greatly from 0g to 3g, and the maximum error ratio was 10.3%. In the dual-screw rotation method, the input error varied from 0.01g to 0,4g, and the maximum error ratio was 0.41%, and almost no input error occurred. As the process cycle increased, it was found that the feed was almost uniform. The dual-screw rotary two-component mixing system was used to measure and analyze the inputs of the main and sub materials for 100 using three types of liquid silicones with different viscosities of the raw materials. As a result, the average error was 0.75g and the error rate was less than 1% regardless of the viscosity of the applied raw materials. When rae materials having the same viscosity were used, the average error ratio of the piston pump method was 4.09%.

  • According to improved radiation therapy technology such as IMRT and proton therapy, the accuracy of patient alignment system is more emphasized and IGRT is dominated research field in radiation oncology. We proposed to study the feasibility of cone-beam CT system using simple x-ray imaging systems for image guided proton therapy at National Cancer Center. 180 projection views ($2,304{\times}3,200$, 14 bit with 127 ${\mu}m$ pixel pitch) for the geometrical calibration phantom and humanoid phantoms (skull, abdomen) were acquired with $2^{\circ}$ step angle using x-ray imaging system of proton therapy gantry room ($360^{\circ}$ for 1 rotation). The geometrical calibration was performed for misalignments between the x-ray source and the flat-panel detector, such as distances and slanted angle using available algorithm. With the geometrically calibrated projection view, Feldkamp cone-beam algorithm using Ram-Lak filter was implemented for CBCT reconstruction images for skull and abdomen phantom. The distance from x-ray source to the gantry isocenter, the distance from the flat panel to the isocenter were calculated as 1,517.5 mm, 591.12 mm and the rotated angle of flat panel detector around x-ray beam axis was considered as $0.25^{\circ}$. It was observed that the blurring artifacts, originated from the rotation of the detector, in the reconstructed toomographs were significantly reduced after the geometrical calibration. The demonstrated CBCT images for the skull and abdomen phantoms are very promising. We performed the geometrical calibration of the large gantry rotation system with simple x-ray imaging devices for CBCT reconstruction. The CBCT system for proton therapy will be used as a main patient alignment system for image guided proton therapy.

  • In this paper, authors propose a new nonlinear rotor flux observer for rotor field oriented control of an induction motor which is designed based on the extended Luenberger Observer theory. Extended Luenberger Observer requires minimal solution of nonlinear partial differential equation on its coordinate transformation and linearization needed on a nonlinear observer design in general. The proposed rotor flux observer is derived from the 2 phase model of induction motor on the orthogonal coordination and it has the reduce gain matrix. Simulation and experimentation were performed under the conventional indirect vector control and direct vector control with the proposed observer at different rotor resistance. Simulation results show that the convergence of the proposed observer is influenced by the chosen eigenvalues. Experimentation results on load operation show the direct vector control with the proposed observer is better than the indirect vector control to maintain the characteristics of the vector control.
