The aim of this study is to clinically evaluate the effect of a mouthwash containing cetylpyridinium and zinc chloride on reduction of morning oral malodor in healthy subjects measured by organoleptic measurement and a portable sulfide monitor. A total of 8 healthy non-smoking male volunteers were enrolled in this study of crossover design consisting of two experimental phases. The subjects were instructed to rinse the mouth with 10 mL of the experimental mouthwash containing cetylpyridinium and zinc chloride for 30 seconds at the first phase. At the second phase after a one-week washout period, each subject rinsed with distilled water as a control. All experiments were conducted at around 8:30 a.m. and oral malodor was measured using organoleptic measurement and a portable sulfide monitor just before rinsing with the experimental mouthwash or control (baseline), 1 hr, 2 hrs, and 3 hrs after rinsing. The mouthwash containing cetylpyridinium and zinc chloride reduced morning oral malodor up to 3 hrs after rinsing. Organoleptic score and concentrations of volatile sulfur compounds after use of the experimental mouthwash significantly decreased with time, and the decreases were significantly different between the mouthwash and control. In conclusion, the mouthwash containing cetylpyridinium and zinc chloride is significantly effective on reduction of morning oral malodor in healthy subjects by 3 hrs.

To enhance the grade and recovery rate of the gold/silver ores which yield at Philippine Mankayan mine, we studied the characteristics which are the geologic and mineralogical features of gold and silver ore, the liberation by crushing and grinding, the separation by sieving and shaking table. Gold/silver ore is composed of the sulfide minerals like pyrite, sphalerite, galena; and the gangue minerals which is quartz, clay. Gold/silver element are mainly contained in a sulfide minerals like pyrite, sphalerite and galena. To increase the liberation rate of sulfide minerals containing gold/silver element, the gold/silver ore has to be grounded under $100{\mu}m$ very finely because the crystal size of sulfide minerals is distributed from $1{\mu}m$ to $100{\mu}m$. The liberation rate of gold/silver ore increases to 92% when the particle size ($d_{90}$) of ore is grounded below $100{\mu}m$ by jaw crusher $\to$ cone crusher $\to$ rod mill by steps. The grade and recovery of sulfide minerals could not be enhanced by sieving separation because those crystal size is distributed homogeneously below $100{\mu}m$. But, when we separated the sieved ore using shaking table, the gold and silver grade increased to 40 ppm and 140 ppm, respectively. Then the recovery rate of gold reach almost 100% but that of silver is no more that 50%.
Recently, thin-film solar cells of Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$(CIGS) have reached a high level of performance, which has resulted in a 19.9%-efficient device. These conventional devices were typically fabricated using chemical bath deposited CdS buffer layer between the CIGS absorber layer and ZnO window layer. However, the short wavelength response of CIGS solar cell is limited by narrow CdS band gap of about 2.42 eV. Taking into consideration the environmental aspect, the toxic Cd element should be replaced by a different material. It is why during last decades many efforts have been provided to achieve high efficiency Cd-free CIGS solar cells. In order to alternate CdS buffer layer, ZnS buffer layer is grown by using chemical bath deposition(CBD) technique. The thickness and chemical composition of ZnS buffer layer can be conveniently by varying the CBD processing parameters. The processing parameters were optimized to match band gap of ZnS films to the solar spectrum and exclude the creation of morphology defects. Optimized ZnS buffer layer showed higher optical transmittance than conventional thick-CdS buffer layer at the short wavelength below ~520 nm. Then, chemically deposited ZnS buffer layer was applied to CIGS solar cell as a alternative for the standard CdS/CIGS device configuration. This CIGS solar cells were characterized by current-voltage and quantum efficiency measurement.

Buffer layer in CIGS thin-film solar cells improves energy conversion efficiency through band alignment between the absorption layer and the window layer. ZnS is a non-toxic II-VI compound semiconductor with direct-transition band gaps and n-conductivity as well as with excellent lattice matching for CIGS absorbent layers. In this study, the structural and optical properties of ZnS thin films, deposited by RF magnetron sputtering method and subsequently performed by the rapid thermal annealing treatment, were investigated for the buffer layer. The zincblende cubic structures along (111), (220), and (311) were shown in all specimens. The rapid thermal annealed specimens at the relatively low temperatures were polycrystalline structure with the wurtzite hexagonal structures along (002). Rapid thermal annealing at high temperatures changed the polycrystalline structure to the single crystal of the zincblende cubic structures. Through the chemical analysis, the zincblende cubic structure was obtained in the specimen with the ratio of Zn/S near stoichiometry. ZnS thin film showed the shifted absorption edge towards the lower wavelength as annealing temperature increased, and the mean optical transmittance in the visible light range increased to 80.40% under 500℃ conditions.
ZnO/ZnS core/shell nanocrystals (${\sim}5-7\;nm$ in diameter) with a size close to the quantum confinement regime were successfully synthesized using polyol and thermolysis. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) analyses reveal that they exist in a highly crystalline wurtzite structure. The ZnO/ZnS nanocrystals show significantly enhanced UV-light emission (${\sim}384\;nm$) due to effective surface passivation of the ZnO core, whereas the emission of green light (${\sim}550\;nm$) was almost negligible. They also showed slight photoluminescence (PL) red-shift, which is possibly due to further growth of the ZnO core and/or the extension of the electron wave function to the shell. The ZnO/ZnS core/shell nanocrystals demonstrate strong potential for use as low-cost UV-light emitting devices.
We fabricated quantum dot sensitized solar cells(QDSSC) using PbS as a sensitizer and measured the solar energy conversion efficiency. After growing ZnO nanowires on the substrate by low temperature ammonia solution reaction, PbS QDs were deposited on ZnO nanowires by SILAR(Successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction) method. The morphology and crystallinity of PbS/ZnO nanowires were studied by SEM and XRD. In this study, the maximum conversion efficiency of QDSSC using PbS was 0.075% at one sun, which was lower than that of QDSSC using other sensitizers. The reasons it showed relatively low efficiency are i) the probability of type-I band gap arrangement between ZnO and PbS, ii) disturbance of electron migration by the various-sized PbS band gap, iii) stability dip by the chemical reaction of PbS QDs with electrolyte. To solve these problems, researches about controlling the size distribution of PbS and new type electrolyte would be needed.
In order to elucidate the growth mechanism of sulfide chimney formed as a result of seafloor hydrothermal mineralization, we carried out the mineralogical and fluid inclusion studies on the inactive, sulfide- and silica-rich chimney which has been recovered from a hydrothermal field in the Cleft segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge. According to previous studies, many active and inactive vents are present in the Cleft segment. The sulfide- and silica-rich chimney is composed of amorphous silica, pyrite, sphalerite and wurtzite with minor amounts of chalcopyrite and marcasite. The interior part of the chimney is highly porous and represents a flow channel. Open spaces within chimneys are typically coated with colloform layers of amorphous silica. The FeS content of Zn-sulfides varies widely from 13.9 to 34.3 mole% with Fe-rich core and Fe-poor rims. This variation possibly reflects the change of physicochemical characteristics of hydrothermal fluids. Chemical and mineralogical compositions of the each growth zone are also varied, possibly due to a thermal gradient. Based on the microthermometric measurements of liquid-rich, two-phase inclusions in amorphous silica that was precipitated in the late stage of mineralization, minimum trapping temperatures are estimated to be about 1140 to 145$^{\circ}$C with the salinities between 3.2 and 4.8 wt.% NaCI equiv. Although the actual fluid temperatures of the vent are not available, this study suggests that the lowtemperature conditions were predominant during the mineralization in the hydrothermal field at Cleft segment. Comparing with the previously reported chimney types, the morphology, colloform texture, bulk chemistry, and a characteristic mineral assemblage (pyrite + marcasite + wurtzite + amorphous silica) of this chimney indicate that the chimney have been formed from a relatively low-temperature (<250$^{\circ}$C) hydrothermal fluid that was changed by sluggish fluid flow and conductive cooling.
Until 2014, 14 million tonnes of Pb (metal based) and 41 million tonnes of Zn (metal based) were produced in Peru. Representative two Pb-Zn metallogenic belts were known in Peru. They are lower Cretaceous-Paleocene VMS Cu-Zn-Au metallogenic belt and Miocene epithermal, skarn, replacement & polymetallic vein metallogenic belt. If four new mining projects were launched and additional three mining projects were prepared until 2017, it seems possible to produce 0.34 million tonnes of Pb and 1.5 million tonnes of Zn additionally. In Pb-Zn metallogenic belt in Peru, potential Zn amounts range from 9 to 6000 million tonnes with 0.1 to 14% Zn and potential Pb amounts range from 5 to 2800 million tonnes with 0.04 to 5.3% Pb.
The desulfurization process which belongs to the gas refining part is the unit process that eliminates $H_2S$ and COS in the coal gas formed by the coal gasification part in the integrated gasification combined cycle(IGCC). In this study, natural manganese ores were selected as the raw material of the desulfurization sorbent due to economical efficiency. Initial rates for the reactions between $H_2S$ and desulfurization sorbent using natural manganese ores were determined in a temperature range of $400{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ using a thermobalance reactor. All reactions were first order with respect to $H_2S$ and were in accord with the Arrhenius equations. When sulfidation reaction was controlled by diffusion, the temperature dependence of the effective diffusivity was given by the Arrhenius equation. Activation energies and frequency factors were obtained from the product layer diffusion coefficient of various sorbents by plotting as Arrhenius equation form.
