  • IT technology of U-healthcare system is being grafted onto medical services and the use of U-healthcare system are extending steadily. However, in case of patients using Implantable Medical Device (IMD) in U-healthcare system, patients' privacy protection and safe access to system recently has emerged as a major issue. This paper proposes a patients' privacy protection protocol to prevent any illegal accesses from third parties as state value and action value are synchronized after patients' information virtualization. The proposed protocol can limit the access range of patients' information according to authentication information of hospitals, doctors, nurses, and pharmacies registered in the U-healthcare server. Additionally, this protocol can increase management efficiency for patients' privacy by synchronizing state values and action values only for approved information and, by instituting this process, third parties cannot easily access patients' information.

  • On the strength of the rapid development and propagation of U-healthcare service, the service technologies are full of important changes. However, U-healthcare service has security problem that patient's biometric information can be easily exposed to the third party without service users' consent. This paper proposes a distributed model according authority and access level of hospital officials in order to safely access patients' private information in u-Healthcare Environment. Proposed model can both limit the access to patients' biometric information and keep safe system from DoS attack using time stamp. Also, it can prevent patients' data spill and privacy intrusion because the main server simultaneously controls hospital officials and the access by the access range of officials from each hospital.

  • Recently, m-health care is be a problem that the patient's information is easily exposed to third parties in case of emergency situation. This paper propose an attribute-based access control protocol to minimize the exposure to patient privacy using patient information in the emergency environment. Proposed protocol, the patient's sensitive information to a third party do not expose sensitive information to the patient's personal health information, including hospital staff and patients on a random number to generate cryptographic keys to sign hash. In addition, patient information from a third party that is in order to prevent the illegal exploitation of the patient and the hospital staff to maintain synchronization between to prevent the leakage of personal health information.

  • The present study was carried out with a view to examine the protective actions of physical and occupational therapists for patients's privacy. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with the questionnaires that were distributed to 297 physical and occupational therapists engaged in general hospitals as well as in rehabilitation clinics across the country from January 2 to 13, 2012. From the survey, it was made known that the overall extent of protective actions practiced by them was $3.54{\pm}.733$ in average. Divided by area, the average protective action in communication was $3.62{\pm}.776$, followed by $3.57{\pm}1.013$ in direct contact and $3.53{\pm}.780$ in maintenance and management, respectively. The analysis of general characteristics by each area showed that the older their age gets and the longer their career is, the more the protective action is practiced by them. Although they are well aware of the fact that the medical information of patients should be kept 100% secret and they practice it to almost excellent grade (5), the physical and occupational therapists, as key experts in charge of improving functions of patients, were found to have little concern for and little knowledge about contents of protecting medical information. It is thus required to perform public relation and instruction continuously to intensify their awareness of needs to protect patients' privacy and to implant ethical sense in this regard deep in their mind.

  • Recently invasion of privacy problem in medical information have been issued following the interest in secondary use of large medical information. These large medical information is very useful information that can be used in various fields such as disease research and prevention. However, due to the privacy laws such as Privacy Act and Medical Law, these informations including patients or health professionals' personal information are difficult to utilize secondary. Accordingly, various methods such as k-anonymity, l-diversity and differential-privacy that can be utilized while protecting privacy have been developed and utilized in this field. In this paper, we study differential privacy processing procedure, one of various methods, and find out about the differential privacy problem using Laplace noise. Finally, we propose a new method using the Shamir's secret sharing method and symemetric key encryption algorithm such as AES for this problem.

  • To ensure a user-centered treatment environment, hospital construction needs an approach that is not centered on functional aspects such as efficiency or economic feasibility but on the consideration of needs as reflected in user psychology and behavior. Patients who are physically and psychologically vulnerable experience psychological pressure when they are placed in an unfamiliar environment. Most of existing studies however focus on the evaluation of the physical environment, without paying attention to the psychological or behavioral approach to anxiety and stress that patients may experience in a special environment that a hospital may be to them. This study examines general hospital inpatients to understand the usage of major space available and their satisfaction with privacy. This study provides useful primary information needed for the user-centered design of general hospital for improved patient health and welfare. For the purpose of the study, literature review, site investigation, and survey were conducted. Major functional space and privacy in general hospitals were studied, and the site investigation was performed to identify the plans and their status. Survey was also performed to understand the usage of functional space and satisfaction with such space usage as well as satisfaction with privacy. The findings were as follows: (1) Space usage was rated as average in general. It was found that patients used their rooms and lobby on a daily basis. By age, the usage was highest in the group in their 40s; the usage was relatively lower in the groups in their 30s or younger. (2) Space satisfaction was above average, indicating that patients were fairly satisfied. Satisfaction was highest in the lobby space designed with distinct features. By case, satisfaction was highest in Case B, characterized by its wide horizontal space in the rural settings. (3) Satisfaction with privacy in hospital was average, indicating that the demand for privacy was relatively higher but what patients receive in return was lower than their expectation. It was also found that satisfaction with privacy was a crucial element that affected the overall satisfaction with hospital.

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems are widely adopted worldwide in hospitals for generating and exchanging records of patient information. Recent developments are moving towards implementing interoperable EHR systems that enable information to be shared seamlessly across healthcare organizations. In this context, this paper explores the factors that cause medical information privacy concerns, identifies how people react to privacy invasion and what their perceptions are towards the acceptance of the EHR system. Interviews were conducted to draw a grounded theory on medical information privacy concerns in the use of EHRs. Medical information privacy concerns are caused by perceived sensitivity of medical information and the weaknesses in security technologies. Trust in medical professionals, medical institutions and technologies plays an important role in determining people's reaction to privacy invasion and their perceptions on the use of EHRs.

  • This paper proposes the UHISRL(Ubiquitous Healthcare Information System based on Real Time Location) which manages patient, doctor, medicine by using RFID. The proposed UHISRL monitors the patient's health state, and enables us to confirm the result with Smart Phone and Tablet PC. Also, it can block Replay and Spoofing attack by using the ERHL(Extended Randomized Hash Lock) authentication scheme designed in this paper. A patient privacy is enhanced by limiting UHISRL DB access according to attributes with CP-ABE (Cipher Text - Attributed based Encryption) technique. Specially, UHISRL can prevent an unexpected accident by monitoring a chronic patient's emergency situation in real time.
