Healthcare Application based on Radio Frequency (무선 통신 기반의 헬스케어 어플리케이션)

  • As computer network and wireless technology continue to grow rapidly, a wide range of remote application has been applied to medical field such as remote medical consulting and remote patient monitoring. This research aims to design RF telecommunication-based healthcare application to collect and manage patient's physiological data, and describe the overall procedure of experiment. MySQL database is designed to record patient's physiological data including temperature, blood pressure and heart rate and save information about medical behaviors such as doctor's prescription for patients. Therefore, users approved by healthcare application can query patient's data and collected data can be used to reorganize data for clinical test. As a result, temperature and humidity of patient's room which must be checked frequently can be processed automatically through ubiquitous sensor network. The information entered from mobile phones or web is saved in database, ensuring systematical management through computer. Moreover, patient's family members can easily access hospital data, improving their experience with medical service.

The Evaluation of Recovery Rate of Radioimmunoassay Using Certified Reference Material (CRM) (인증표준물질(CRM)을 이용한 방사면역측정법의 회수율 평가)

  • Purpose: Reference material (RM) is defined as material that is safe and homogeneous enough about specified characteristic that is made with a purpose of using test of measurement or nominal characteristic. Certified reference material (CRM), which is issued by authorized organization, is defined as reference material that provides characteristic value, link uncertainty and retroactivity. The purpose of this paper was to evaluate recovery of radioimmunoassay by Certified Reference Material enclosed with a certificate and therefore to enhance reliability of test. Materials and Methods: WHO certified reference material is purchased from NIBSC (National Institute for Biological Standard and Control, United Kingdom) and made of 3 levels that are C-1 (low concentration), C-2 (medium concentration) and C-3 (high concentration) and measured for kit at the Seoul National University Hospital. Recovery rate is evaluated after measurement at four different days. Results: Recovery rate results using WHO certified reference material are T4 90%, Ferritin 88%, PSA 94%, Prolactin 99%, AFP 94% and TSH 93%. Conclusion: A procedure that appropriate accuracy, precision, specificity, sensitivity, reproducibility, and validate on the subject of kit for radioimmunoassay is essential. Recovery rate assay as extraction efficiency of analysis process is percent about already measuring results of analysis result after all measuring process. This is very important assessment standards of performance evaluation of immunoassay kit. Recovery rate results of 6 type used WHO CRM are satisfactory to 88~99%. This demonstrates that the radioimmunoassay is a very accurate measurement, which is very effectively utilized in clinical practice.

  • This study proposes new protocol protecting patients' personal record more safely as well as solving medical dispute smoothly by storing the record not into a computer server in hospitals but into the National Health Insurance Corporation computer server. The new protocol for electronic medical record is designed using RSA public key algorithm and DSA digital signature. In addition, electronic medical record systems are built up with more safety and reliability through certificate authority. The proposed medical information systems can strengthen trust between doctors and patients. If medical malpractice occurs, the systems can also provide evidence. Furthermore, the systems can be helpful to reduce medical accidents. The systems could be also utilized efficiently in various applied areas.

  • 한국정보통신기술협회(TTA)에서 표준 제안한 WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network)은 인체 내부 통신(in-body or implant)과, 인체 외부 통신(on-body)통신으로 구분하고 있다. 생체측정 정보 중 체온, 호흡, 맥박, 운동량, 심박의 부분적인 데이터 수집을 바탕으로 환자의 생체정보 데이터를 수합 후 데이터 프레임구조로 변환하여 스마트모바일 애플리케이션 환경에서 사용자가 모바일기기 화면에 정보를 표시 할 수 있다. 이렇게 표시된 정보들은 환자의 상태를 실시간으로 자신의 스마트모바일을 이용하여 확인할 수 있으며, 이러한 정보를 보호하고 의료기관에 전송하기 위한 방법으로 국제표준암호알고리즘인 HIGHT 알고리즘을 적용하여 생체정보 데이터의 부분 암호화 적용을 설계 하였다. 이를 통해 의료기관의 인증서버에 대한 부하 감소 및 환자의 생체정보의 보안 강화를 제시한다.

Genetic Counseling in Korean Health Care System (한국 의료제도와 유전상담 서비스의 구축)

  • Over the years Korean health care system has improved in delivery of quality care to the general population for many areas of the health problems. The system is now being recognized in the world as the most cost effective one. It is covered by the uniform national health insurance policy for which most people in Korea are mandatory policy holders. Genetic counseling service, however, which is well recognized as an integral part of clinical genetics service deals with diagnosis and management of genetic condition as well as genetic information presentation and family support, is yet to be delivered in comprehensive way for the patients and families in need. Two major obstacles in providing genetic counseling service in korean health care system are identified; One is the lack of recognition for the need for genetic counseling service as necessary service by the national health insurance. Genetic counseling consumes a significant time in delivery and the current very low-fee schedule for physician service makes it very difficult to provide meaningful service. Second is the critical shortage of qualified professionals in the field of medical genetics and genetic counseling who can provide the service of genetic counseling in clinical setting. However, recognition and understanding of the fact that the scope and role of genetic counseling is expanding in post genomic era of personalized medicine for delivery of quality health care, will lead to the efforts to overcome obstacles in providing genetic counseling service in korean health care system. Only concerted efforts from health care policy makers of government on clinical genetics service and genetic counseling for establishing adequate reimbursement coverage and professional communities for developing educational program and certification process for professional genetic counselors, are necessary for the delivery of much needed clinical genetic counseling service in Korea.

A Study on Perception and Nursing Activity for Patient Safety of Operating Room Nurses (수술실 간호사의 환자안전의식과 안전관리활동)

  • This study aimed to investigate the awareness and performance of safety in operating room nurses. There were 161 operating room nurses from eight general hospitals included for analysis in this study. The data were analyzed with t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and Scheffe's test. The results show that their perception of patient safety was 3.33 out of a total of 5 points. Moreover, the score of safety management activity for patients in the operating room was 4.28 out of 5 points. As the perception of patient safety in operating room nurses was significantly correlated with their safety management activities, nurses with higher awareness of patient safety were found to have higher degree of performance of safety management activities. In conclusion, to improve safety management activities, open discussion about patient safety should be encouraged and periodic education regarding patient safety should be implemented for operating room nurses to increase the perception of patient safety.

  • With information technology and health care, efficient health data management provides various health services. Health data from hospitals patients and healthy persons use stacked up enables to trace health condition and to manage health effectively and to reduce healthcare cost. In this paper, we design and implement a framework for relaying health data from various hospitals to cloud storage for manage health condition. For efficient authentication of the framework with cloud storage, OAuth2 protocal is adopted. The proposed health data relay framework can be used for developing various health services with the stacked data in the cloud storage.

  • As both medical and IT technologies advance, convergent medical technologies such as implantable medical devices are receiving a lot of attentions from the research and medical appliance market. On the other hand, such a new medical service is facing several new security threats including patient privacy breach since the service is based on the wireless communication. Especially, the new security threat could induce the patient's life threatening accident, so that more secure measures should be provided. In this paper, a variety of security threats associated with the implantable medical devices are pinpointed and a new security mechanism against such threats is proposed.

  • 센서네트워크는 넓은 지역에 무선 인프라로 묶여 설치된 센서들을 사용하여 상황 인지로 감지된 데이터를 응용서비스 서버와 연동하는 기술이다. 이는 환경 감시, 대상 추적, 환자 모니터링, 군사적 목적 등 매우 다양한 분야에 사용될 수 있다. 센서네트워크 역시 기존 네트워크에서 필요로 하는 보안 기능을 요구한다. 그러나 센서네트워크에 사용되는 노드들이 사용할 수 있는 자원에 제약이 있어, 기존의 암호기술을 그대로 적용하는데 어려움이 있다. 이러한 센서네트워크에서의 키 분배 문제를 해결하기 위하여 인증센터를 사용하는 기법, 랜덤 키 사전 분배 기법, q-합성수 랜덤 키 사전 분배 기법, Blom 스킴, 위치 기반 키 사전 분배 기법 등이 제안되어 있다. 한편, 공개키 연산의 많은 부하로 인하여 공개키 기법을 센서네트워크에 적용하기에 적합하지 않으리라 여겨져 왔으나, 최근의 연구결과들에 의하면 PKI처럼 복잡한 시스템을 구현하는 것은 부적합할지라도 공개키를 이용한 키 분배 기법을 센서네트워크에 적용하는 것이 실효성이 있다는 것을 보여준다. 본 논문에서는 TinyOS 플랫폼에서 공개키를 이용하여 센서 노드 간 상호 인증 및 세션키를 생성하여 암호 데이터 통신을 수행하는 센서네트워크 플랫폼을 구현한 결과를 제시한다.

  • This paper presents a user authentication scheme for healthcare application using wireless sensor networks, where wireless sensors are used for patients monitoring. These medical sensors' sense the patient body data and transmit it to the professionals. Since, the data of an individual are highly vulnerable; it must ensures that patients medical vital signs are secure, and are not exposed to an unauthorized person. In this regards, we propose a user authentication scheme for healthcare application using medical sensor networks. The proposed scheme includes: a novel two-factor user authentication, where the healthcare professionals are authenticated before access the patient's body data; a secure session key is establish between the patient sensor node and the professional at the end of user authentication. Furthermore, the analysis shows that the proposed scheme is safeguard to various practical attacks and achieves efficiency at low computation cost.
