수지충전식 전기투석 재생조를 이용한 LOMI 제염폐액의 전기화학적 재생연구

  • 실증규모의 수지충전식 전기투석 재생조를 사용하여 농축음극액내 바나듐의 전기화학적 환원 방법에 의한 재생거동을 조사하였다. 전기투석 분리재생 종료후 남아있는 개미산용액을 전해액으로 사용한 농축음극액내 전기투석된 철 및 코발트는 음극액의 pH를 약 4.3내외로 조절하면 전해환원에 의해 전착.제거된다. 또한 농축음극액내 바나듐은 +2가로 전해환원 되어 착화물을 이루고 있는 Vanadous picolinate 형태로 존재하기 때문에 음극액은 농축된 LOMI 제염제로 재생된다. 이 전해환원에 의한 농축음극액의 재생방법은 제염폐액의 전기투석 분리재생 후 피콜리네이트 착화제만을 재사용하는 기존의 재생개념보다 더욱 효과적으로 제염폐액을 재생시켜 재활용할 순 있는 방사성폐기물의 감용효율이 큰 향상된 제염폐액 재생공정이다.

  • Photochemical reduction of 1,2-bispyrazylethylene,a stilbene like heterocompound, was studied in hydrogen donating solvents and reduction product, 1, 2-bispyrazylethane, was identified. Salt and solvent effects on the quantum yields of the reduction, sensitization and quenching studies showed that the reactive state for the photochemical reduction of the compound is $(n,{\pi}^*)^1$ state rather than $({\pi},{\pi}^*)^1$ state.

  • With the market of food products, the use of food additives is on the increase. The dye as food additives, can be used for some foods which are difficult to preserve their own colors. It can be also classified as tar dye, vegetable dye and mineral dye. Because tar dye has dense toxicity, only 15 articles among them are legally allowed to be used. Among the allowed articles, the azo compound amaranth, tartrazine, sunset yellow, and allura red, were used in determining and comparing rat hepatic azo reductase activity and we observed the flavin's effects as follows: 1. Investigation with amaranth as substrate gave an apparent Km of $645\;\mu\textrm{M}$ and Vmax of 50 n mol/min/mg protein. 2. On investigation using a fixed amaranth concentration over a range of flavin concentration, FAD significantly increased the activity of the azo reductase compared with only minor increases in reaction mediated by the NADPH-generating system alone. 3. On investigation with amaranth, tartrazine, sunset yellow allura red as electron acceptor in the absence or presence of 300 mM-FAD, sunset yellow was reduced at a rat similar to amaranth, tartrazine was reduced at a slower rate and allura red was reduced a little more rapidly.

  • 제염기술은 원자력발전소의 순환계통장치 및 기기류의 방사성 오염물질을 제거하는 기술이다. 현재 국내 원전의 설계 수명 및 유지보수 시기가 도래함에 따라, 작업 전 작업자의 방사선 피사량을 극소화하기 위한 제염 기술이 주목을 받고 있다. 제염 방법에는 크게 기계적 제염과 화학약품을 사용하는 화학제염이 있다. 그 중 화학제염은 복잡한 구조의 제염 대상물에 대한 큰 효과 및 간단한 공정 때문에 주로 사용되고 있다. 제염 시 방사성 산화물과 오염성분을 제거하기 위해 강산 또는 강알칼리의 화학용액이 사용된다. 강한 화학약품을 사용함으로써 큰 제염효과를 얻을 수 있는 반면, 금속 재료의 부식에 대한 구동력도 커지게 된다. 금속 재료의 경우, 강한 부식성 환경에서 공식(pitting corrosion) 및 입계부식(intergranular corrosion)형태의 손상이 크게 발생하기 때문에, 제염공정 시 사용되는 화학용액에 대한 재료의 건전성 검증이 반드시 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 원전기기용 재료인 니켈합금강 Inconel600의 화학제염 시 시험공정 3가지에 대한 부식손상 특성을 규명하였다. 산화공정은 $HMnO_4$ 실험용액을 공통으로 사용하였으며, 산화공정 종료 후 환원공정은 각 시험공정에 따라 환원공정 1은 2000ppm $H_2C_2O_4$, 환원공정 2는 1500ppm $H_2C_2O_4$ + 500ppm $H_8C_6O_7$, 그리고 환원공정 3은 3000ppm $H_2C_2O_4$ 실험용액을 각각 투입하여 수행하였다. 산화, 환원공정을 1Cycle로 하여 온도 $75^{\circ}C$로 유지된 용액에 각 2시간씩 침적하였다. 각 시험공정 별로 총 5Cycle을 실시하였다. 각 시험공정 Cycle종료 후 시험편을 취외하여 무게감량측정, SEM(Scanning electron microscope)분석, 3D현미경분석 그리고 타펠분극 실험을 실시하였다. 각 분석결과를 토대로 하여, 니켈합금 Inconel600에 대한 화학제염 시 시험공정에 따른 부식특성을 규명하였다.

Biological Activities of Solvent Fractions of Capsicum annuum Leaves (고추잎 용매 분획물의 생리활성)

  • Biological activities of solvent fractions obtained from Cnsicum annuum leaves, being used in material of functional food, were examined by the methods of DPPH scavenging activity, reducing power, nitrite scavenging activity, antimicrobial activity and inhibitory effect on tyrosinase activity. The highest yield was obtained from water fraction, where as the lowest yield was obtained from ethyl acetate traction, 16.9% and 0.6%, respectively. Hydrogen donating activity of Capsicum annuum leaves in increased with increasing amount of extract. Reducing power of the ethyl acetate fraction is increased as the amount of extract is increased. Even in the presence of 900 $\mu\textrm{g}$ of ethyl acetate fraction, reducing power was significantly higher than it was fer the control in which there was no extract. Among the various solvent fractions, ethyl acetate fraction showed the strongest scavenging effect on hydrogen peroxide. Nitrite scavenging effects of all concentrations diminished at higher pH, while in the case of pH 1.2, it showed a nitrite scavenging effect of more than 90% at concentration above of ethyl acetate fraction 500 $\mu\textrm{g}$. Among the various solvent fractions from methanol extract of Capsicum annuum leaves, ethyl acetate and butanol fraction showed the strongest antimicrobial activity. Antimicrobial activity of ethyl acetate fraction was 20 mm against Bacillus cereus, 18 mm against Staphylococcus aureus and 17 mm against Streptococcus mutans. Ethyl acetate fraction showed the strongest of inhibitory activity of tyrosinase.

Geotechnical Characteristics of Reduced Slag-soil Mixtures in Electric Furnace (전기로 제강 환원 슬래그 혼합토의 지반공학적 특성)

  • Only a few studies have been conducted using reduced slag as recycled material. The reduced slag in electric furnace is produced as a by-product in making a steel and a few applications of the reduced slag as expensive additives and bonding materials or as the stabilized soils was reported. The purpose of this study is to present the feasibility of the reduced slag as recycled material, especially, in a field of civil engineering. In order to achieve the purpose experiments such as SEM and XRF analysis was conducted for the reduced slag in electric furnace. Based on the results various geotechnical experiments were conducted to know engineering properties of slag-soil mixtures. Weathered soils and clay are mixed with reduced slag for various ratios. As the ratio of reduced slag to weathered soil increases, the maximum dry unit weight of the mixture decreased with increasing optimum moisture content. The results indicates that there is no effect on a reduced slag by compaction efforts. The shear strengths of the weathered soil-slag mixtures are slightly higher or similar to those of weathered soils. The permeability of the weathered soil-slag mixtures is similar to that of silty or sandy soils. Therefore, it is possible to use the mixtures as embankment or backfill materials in the fields. The unconfined strength of the mixtures of reduced slag and clay is higher than that of clay and it tends to increase with the curing time. Therefore it can be used to improve the soft ground.

A Study on the Reduction of Iron Oxide from Slag in the EAF Process (전기로 공정에서 슬래그 중 산화철의 환원 회수에 관한 연구)

  • EAF processed slag which contains about 20 ~ 35 weight percent FetO is poured to slag pot and cooled. If we recover Fe from molten slag by the reduction, we will improve steel yield rate and reduce slag quantity poured from the furnace. Usually, carbon is used as a reductant and slag foaming agent in the EAF process. In this experiment, after melt the metal in induction furnace and then add slag with carbon and Al dross powder as a reductant, we investigated the reduction of FetO from slag and change of Phophorus content. As the result, when we use Al dross as a reductant, recovery rate is two times more than carbon. Phosphorus pick up is less than 50ppm with reduction of EAF slag.

Effect of Hairy Vetch as Green Manue on Rice Cultivation (벼재배시 헤어리벳치 녹비의 이용 효과)

  • The aim of this study was to test a utilization possibility of hairy vetch as a green manure in rice cultivation. The effect of hairy vetch on yield and nitrogen uptake or rice was investigated for three years. The yield of rice increased by 7% when hairy vetch was supplied at 2~3 weeks before rice transplanting compared to that of 1 week. The proper amount of hairy vetch incorporated into soil without nitrogen fertilization was $15{\sim}20ton\;ha^{-1}$. There was a severe lodging of rice with yield reduction when hairy vetch was supplied over $25ton\;ha^{-1}$. When $20ton\;ha^{-1}$ of hairy vetch was supplied the rice yield increased by 6% due to the increase of panicle number per square meter 20%.

The Electrocatalytic Reduction of Molecular Oxygen with Clay Modified Electrodes (점토광물을 이용한 산소환원의 전기화학적 촉매성에 관한 연구)

  • The electrocatalytic reduction of O₂ was investigated with methyl viologen and methylene blue incorporated clay-modified electrodes. Clay suspensions were prepared with Na-montmorillonite, Ca-montmorillonite, and kaolinite. The methyl viologen-clay modified electrodes were made by coating clay suspensions adsorbing methyl viologen on a glassy carbon electrode. Cyclic voltammetry were performed in aqueous media to investigate the electrocatalytic property of the modified electrode in reducing O₂. A Na-montmorillonite modified electrode showed the greatest adsorption capacity for methyl viologen. The modified electrode made of Na-montmorillonite suspension of 0.87 g/10 mL and a 2.5 mM of methyl viologen solution showed the most effective electrocatalytic property, where the catalytic reduction potential was shifted by 242.6 mV toward the positive potential. The electrocatalytic ability was more significant in acidic (pH=3.7) and alkaline (pH=12.7) media than the neutral pH range (6.3∼8.3). The methyl viologen-Na-montmorillonite modified electrode had the good reproducibility and maintain the electrocatalytic property over 20 times reuse.

Bioconversion of nitrogen oxides and reduction of ferric ions by probiotic lactic acid bacteria (프로바이오틱스 유산균에 의한 질소 산화물 전환 및 철 이온 환원활성)

  • Many lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have probiotic properties that exert various health benefits. In this study, the reduction potential of nitrogen oxide compounds and ferric ions by six LAB, including Lactobacillus kimchicus, L. lactis, L. casei, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus GG, and Leuconostoc mesenteroides were evaluated. The L. kimchicus strain produced a substantial amount of nitrite reduced from nitrate added to the media, whereas the other five LAB strains did not. L. kimchicus also showed the most potent reducing activity of ferric to ferrous ions. However, the reduction potential of the autoclaved L. kimchicus was little pronounced. The scavenging activities of viable LAB or their cell lysates against different radicals were not consistent with the potency of the LAB's reducing ability. The present results indicate that L. kimchicus has a strong reduction potential for nitrogen oxides in viable status, and that this ability can be used as a probiotic property for various health benefits.
