Structural Safety Assessment of Piping Used in Offshore Plants According to Thermal Load and Motion (해양플랜트에 사용되는 배관의 열 하중과 구조물의 운동에 따른 구조안전성 평가)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate structural safety according to environmental conditions acting on the piping of offshore structure and the motion of the structure. As for conditions acting on the piping, the maximum and minimum temperature conditions were used to analyze the design conditions of N2 generator. The motion of the structure was calculated and applied according to the DNV(Det Norske Veritas) rule. Each condition was combined and a total of 26 load combinations were constructed according to thermal load, motion load, and presence or absence of pipe support. Analysis was performed using a commercial program MSC Patran/Nastran. Thermal analysis was performed by applying the steady-state method, Sol 153. Thermal-structural coupled analysis was performed using Sol 101, a linear-static method. As a result of the analysis, the stress tended to increase when temperature inside the pipe was lower in Set 1 and Set 2, when temperature was higher in Set 3, and when the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the pipe in Set 4 was increased. However, the sum of stresses in the condition with only temperature load and the condition with only the kinetic load did not show the same value as the stress in the composite load condition of two loads. That is, the influence of the motion load varied depending on the direction of motion, the arrangement of pipes, and the position of the support. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the size and direction of the motion load acting on the piping, the arrangement of the piping, and the location of the pipe supports during the design of piping.

Calculation of Crop Loads for Structural Design of Greenhouse (온실의 구조설계용 작물하중 산정)

  • This study was conducted to provide basic data needed to calculate the crop loads for the greenhouse design. Four countries' crop loads for greenhouse structures were compared and the crop loads were measured directly and analyzed for various greenhouse crops, including tomato, strawberry, cucumber, and eggplant. According to the analysis results of four country's standards for the design crop loads, it was judged that the new design crop loads suit for greenhouse crops in our country should be suggested because our standards just used the design crop loads of other countries. The maximum crop loads per plant of tomato, cucumber, eggplant, and strawberry were 3.9, 0.75, 1.9 and $2.1kgf{\cdot}plant^{-1}$, respectively. The crop load per unit area of tomato was $8.5kgf{\cdot}m^{-2}$, which was much greater than the cucumber and eggplant's crop load of 2.1 and $2.4kgf{\cdot}m^{-2}$ respectively. The crop loads of tomato and cucumber, suggested by the greenhouse structure design standard of Korea, is $15kgf{\cdot}m^{-2}$, which is far greater than the values suggested by this research. It was judged that this was because our standard just used the Dutch standard, our crop load standard should be reviewed considering this difference. The crop load of strawberry, including the growing bed, was $21.0kgf{\cdot}m^{-2}$, which was much greater than the crop load in the Dutch standard.

Study(V) on Development of Charts and Equations Predicting Allowable Compressive Bearing Capacity for Prebored PHC Piles Socketed into Weathered Rock through Sandy Soil Layers - Analysis of Results and Data by Parametric Numerical Analysis - (사질토를 지나 풍화암에 소켓된 매입 PHC말뚝에서 지반의 허용압축지지력 산정도표 및 산정공식 개발에 관한 연속 연구(V) - 매개변수 수치해석 자료 분석 -)

  • A parametric numerical analysis according to diameter, length, and N values of soil was conducted for the PHC pile socketed into weathered rock through sandy soil layers. In the numerical analysis, the Mohr-Coulomb model was applied to PHC pile and soils, and the contacted phases among the pile-soil-cement paste were modeled as interfaces with a virtual thickness. The parametric numerical analyses for 10 kinds of pile diameters were executed to obtain the load-settlement relationship and the axial load distribution according to N-values. The load-settlement curves were obtained for each load such as total load, total skin friction, skin friction of the sandy soil layer, skin friction of the weathered rock layer and end bearing resistance of the weathered rock. As a result of analysis of various load levels from the load-settlement curves, the settlements corresponding to the inflection point of each curve were appeared as about 5~7% of each pile diameter and were estimated conservatively as 5% of each pile diameter. The load at the inflection point was defined as the mobilized bearing capacity ($Q_m$) and it was used in analyses of pile bearing capacity. And SRF was appeared above average 70%, irrespective of diameter, embedment length of pile and N value of sandy soil layer. Also, skin frictional resistance of sandy soil layers was evaluated above average 80% of total skin frictional resistance. These results can be used in calculating the bearing capacity of prebored PHC pile, and also be utilized in developing the bearing capacity prediction method and chart for the prebored PHC pile socketed into weathered rock through sandy soil layers.

  • Some sections of concrete highway pavements have been viewed with great concern by highway officials and engineers due to the severe cracking and failure problems. This is mainly due to the traffic loads in addition to temperature variations between top and bottom of concrete slab, which cause the concrete slab to curl up and down depending on the thermal gradient, respectively. Subsequently, a major consideration was given to the derivation of stiffness matrix and equivalent nodal loads due to the uniform gravity load, temperature and shrinkage of concrete. And the structural behavior of concrete highway pavement due to the temperature variations throughout the nations has been emphasized.

  • 통신전주는 케이블을 가공에 설치하거나 가입자 댁내로 인입시키기 위해 케이블을 지지하는 옥외 시설물로서 케이블을 쉽고 경제적으로 포설할 수 있는 장점이 있어 통신망 구축에 널리 사용되어 왔으며 특히 최근에는 FTTH(유사 FTTH 포함) 구축이 활발히 진행됨에 따라 전주에 부착물을 취부하는 경우가 많아지고 있어 통신전주의 활용도가 한층 더 높아지고 있는 상황이다. 그러나 최근 태풍 "매미" 등 극심한 기상환경 변화로 인해 통신시설물의 피해를 초래하고 있어 통신시설물의 풍하중에 대한 규정을 강화하고 있는 추세에 전주에 추가 부착물 취부에 따른 풍하중에 대한 전주의 안전 문제가 제기됨에 따라 전주의 안전성 검토가 절실히 요구되어 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 부착물이 취부되는 통신전주의 풍하중에 대한 안전성 검토 방법을 제시하고 나아가 안전한 전주가 되도록 보강할 수 있는 전주 보강기술을 소개하고자 한다.

A Study on the Characteristic Behavior of the Lateral Load Piles using the Strain Wedge Model and Laboratory Model Test (실내모형실험과 변형률 쐐기모델을 이용한 수평하중을 받는 말뚝의 거동 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The most of original horizontal bearing capacity theory of the pile is not efficiently to consider interaction between soil and pile because it is only to consider the earth pressure theory and separately the ground form pile. In recent, in order to improve the pile technology, it is necessary to confirm the real behaviour characteristics of pile under lateral load. Hence, to evaluate the behaviour characteristics of the single and group pile under lateral loads using the strain wedge model that could consider the interaction between soil and piles. Primarily, laboratory scale down model tests was carried out to predict the behaviour characteristics on real size piles using the strain wedge model. The comparative analyses between model test and numerical analysis for the evaluation of whole behaviour were conducted.

  • Recent increasing of redevelopment project causes construction of new buildings after demolition of old buildings. However, the researches have been largely confirmed to analysis of behaviour characteristics of existing subway tunnel due to adjacent excavation which constructing new building so far. Accordingly, The ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Building which will be built after demolishing existing parking lot is selected as a subject of study. And the purpose of this study is to analyze the effects on existing subway tunnel due to loading and unloading caused by demolition of upper buildings. The numerical analysis was performed by using the MIDAS/GTS program. Two cases for the numerical analysis were analyzed. The one is considering demolition of old buildings and the other is not considering it. This study is to analyze the effect on existing subway tunnel caused by demolition of upper building by analyzing numerical analysis results for tunnel displacement and lining stress. It was analyzed that the effects of considering the demolition of old buildings are larger than those of no considering it.

Load Transfer Characteristics and Ultimate Bearing Capacity of PHC Pile in Deep Soft Clay Layer (대심도 연약지반에 근입된 PHC말뚝기초의 하중전이특성 및 극한지지력 산정)

  • In this study, the analysis of load transition of PHC pile was performed with the static load test, which was driven in deep soft clay layer of MyungJi site in the western area of Pusan. The results of test showed that the range of unit side resistance of pile in sand layer were $7.4t/m^2$ to $23.3t/m^2$ and $6.4t/m^2$ in the soft clay layer, while the unit base resistance was $955t/m^2$ in dense silty sand layer. To select the most reasonable static bearing capacity formular, the field measured values are compared with the calculated ones from the suggested various formular. In the case of side resistance in sand layer, the suggest formular in the Structural Foundation Design Manual by KGS was most reasonable, while in clay layer Railroad Design Manual.
