In this study, the centrifugal tests were performed with varying the angle of slope such as 1:3, 1:2.5, and 1:2 in order to analyze the deformation and failure type of dredged clay slope for a short term. The displacement mode, displacement vector and the variation of pore pressure with the different slope angle were measured. As a results, even though the displacement in the slope after 4 months were developed in the case of 1:3 for the dredged slope, there are little problems to obtain the stability of dredged slope because the original construction section maintains. Also, in the case of 1:2.5 after 4 months the local slope failure occurred and in the case of 1:2 after 2 months the circle failure starting from the point of the tensile crack occurred. After reviewing the results, the maximum vertical displacement occurred at the crest of slope and maximum horizontal displacement was about double of maximum vertical displacement.
Accurate settlement estimation of dredged soft soil deposits is significantly important to prevent potential disasters during land reclamation. An application of the non-linear finite strain consolidation theory is inevitable in dealing with a very soft ground formation such as dredged fill. In this paper, a series of the sedimentation-consolidation test, self-weight consolidation test and CRS test were conducted to clarify sedimentation and consolidation characteristics of dredged fill in the Songdo area, Incheon. In addition, the settlement of dredged fill was numerically simulated using the PSDDF program. The dredged soil obtained from the Songdo area was classified as low-compressible silt (ML) based on USCS (Unified Soil Classification System), and the final bulking factors were estimated to be 1.56 and 1.17 by Yano's method and the numerical simulation, respectively. This difference is attributable to relatively high reclaimed height and large permeability of dredged soil in this region.

In this paper, we develope the bucket driven dredger for sludge treatment in box type culvert. The dreadger is opererated in $2m\;{\times}\;2m$ box type narrow culvert under the road, and controlled using remote controller on the remote zone. In order to operate under dangerous environment, we develope the bucket drived dredger, and we will commercialize the result.
There are many reclamation projects domestically and internationally which requires large quantity of reclaimable materials. To provide enough reclaimable soils which are limited in land, there have been various research focusing on the dredged soils in the marine environments. As a part of this research, a GIS based 3D dredging reclamation visualization program was developed for the volume estimation of dredged soils in 2015. The developed program is based on the digitized spatial information of the site investigation data with a consideration of the reliability of the data. Prior to the validation with the comparisons with the actual dredged volume measurement data, the developed program was compared with the commercial 3D visualization program with 3D visualized results from the test site near the Gunjang harbor. The validation of the developed program was performed in terms of the degree of visualized precision, the sectional and profiling of soil layers and the dredged volume estimation results. Based on the comparisons, both commercial and developed program show similar dredged volume with minor discrepancies in soil layers.

Confined Disposal Facilities(CDF) are an effective and commonly used management option for contaminated dredged material. CDF is an engineered contstruction for containment of contaminated dredged material to control potential releases to the environment. Although the concept is simple, constructing a CDF is a complex and non-standard process. In the process of planning a CDF, many different fields of expertise have to be considered, such as civil engineering, landscaping, chemistry, legislation, social impact, and environmental engineering. This paper provides the concise overview of common guidance on CDF.

In order to predict the long-term effects of pollutants in sediment on the water quality and the improvement of water quality according to dredging operation, models applied to decide the location and the propriety of dredging were developed. At first, the area was divided into several segments and the developed model was applied to simulate the behaviors of contaminants in an aquatic environment by using estimated parameters. And then through the sensitivity analysis between parameters, the optimum values were determined. The long-term modelling in the area A forecasted that PCBs concentration in the hot spot was decreased from $3.1\;{\mu}g/L$ to $2.4\;{\mu}g/L$ in 30 years. Contaminants in sediment as a source of water pollution did not reduce remarkably in the long run. Therefore it is difficult to expect the improvement of water qualities without the fundamental isolation of contaminants from sediment. It is considered that the selective dredging in the spot improves the water quality consequently.
In this study, both domestic ground and maritime environmental standard and treated method for beneficial use of dredged materials were investigated. To suggest beneficial use of dredged material, cemented bricks and light-weighted bricks were made. The strength of bricks was satisfied with the standard(50kPa), which is the strength for the reclamation work on the reclaimed land.

This paper proposed an environmental standard far beneficial use of dredged materials currently considered as waste materials. In Korea, even though chemical analysis of sediments are carried out frequently, their analysis results were not interrelated with the effects of biological lives due to a shortage of data, which may result in difficulty to develope Korean standards for reusing dredged materials. For these, this paper first searched existing foreign standards, analyzed local contaminated sediment data, identified their main components of contaminations and then compared clean-up standards of sediments consisting of lower and higher level. From these analyses new environmental standards considering Korean domestic circumstances are proposed. It is judged that newly proposed standards are appropriate in terms of both Korean national sedimental environments and economical recycling aspects because environmental standard levels proposed are higher than background level of sediments in Korea and foreign country's standards, where many experiences and environmental monitoring works have been already performed.

An amphibious scrubbing/suction dredging machine with cylindrical rotating brush, housing, and turbidity barrier was newly-developed to remove both sediments with about 10 cm thickness and periphyton attached on various structures in urban water-circulating systems through the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes. Based on the field application and long-term monitoring, the increase in both suspended solids (SS) and turbidity of water during the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes was negligible (p>0.05). In some cases, the turbidity of water initially increased, however, the turbidity was stabilized within 20 minutes from the start of dredging processes. The concentration changes in TN and TP of water were not statistically different (p>0.05) before and after the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes, indicating that benthic nutrients released from sediments were not significantly diffused, and were not supposed to cause significant water pollution. Also, water treatment facilities along with an amphibious scrubbing/suction dredging machine could be more effective since the removal of contaminant loadings through the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes was much greater than that through simple coagulation/precipitation processes. Finally, GPS-based realtime tracking and operation program have been developed and applied in various urban water-circulating systems, and development of driver cooperative autonomous driving system is in progress to eliminate the need for manual driving of an amphibious scrubbing/suction dredging machine.
