Characteristics on Chemical Activation and VOCs Adsorption of Activated Carbon according to Mixing Ratio of Anthracite and Lignite (활성탄 제조시 유·무연탄 혼합에 따른 화학적 활성화 및 휘발성유기화합물 흡착 특성)

  • In this study, to improve the low surface area of domestic anthracite as raw materials of activated carbon, characteristics on chemical activation and VOCs adsorption of activated carbon according to mixing ratio of anthracite and lignite. For these, properties of raw materials, parameter characteristics of preparation processes for activated carbon, and VOCs adsorption characteristic of the prepared activated carbon are analyzed. The experimental results showed that, the domestic anthracite had disadvantages of high contents for ash and lead, arsenic, which were exceeded for the heavy metal limits, in the properties of raw materials. To improve these diadvantages, using the mixing ratio of anthracite and lignite, and the optimum conditions for pretreatment, activation, washing, and pellitization process, the activated carbon had a range of BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) surface area of $1,154{\sim}1,420m^2g^{-1}$ with mesopore development and hydrophobic surface property. The carbons were satisfied with the quality standard for granular activated carbon, and had similar physicochemical properties with the commercial activated carbon. The minimum mixing condition for commercial VOCs activated carbon performance must have the caloric value of above $5,640kcal\;kg^{-1}$, and the carbon had higher adsorption capacity with order of xylene > toluene > benzene according to more higher molcular weight and hydrophobic property.

  • AHR is a transcription factor activated by aryl hydrocarbons, regulating the expression of XMEs (xenobiotics Metabolizing Enzymes). Even though the role of AHR in human physiology has been intensively investigated for the past decades, our understandings are still largely limited due to the deficiency of adequate chemical agents. In addition, it has been demonstrated that AHR correlates to pathogeneses for some diseases. Furthermore, emerging data suggest that the study on the AHR may provide a valid therapeutic target. Classical antagonists in current use are reported to be partial agonistic whereas a pure antagonist is demanded. In this study, o-toluidinyl ring structure of 2-methyl-4-(2-methylphenyldiazenyl)phenyl picolinamide has been modified into various structures to optimize the AHR antagonistic activity by means of convergence study of organic synthesis and molecular biology.

Influence of Chemical Activation of Carbon Supports on Electrochemical Behaviors of Pt-Ru Nanoparticle for Fuel cells (연료전지 백금-루테늄 나노입자의 전기화학적 거동에 대한 탄소지지체의 활성화 효과)

  • In this work, graphite nanofibers (GNFs) were prepared for using catalyst supports in fuel cells. The GNFs were chemically activated to obtain high surface area and small pore diameter with different potassium hydroxide (KOH) amounts, i.e., 0, 1, 3, 4, and 5 g as an activating agent. And then Pt-Ru was deposited onto activated GNFs (A-GNFs) by chemical reduction method. The characteristics of Pt-Ru catalysts deposited onto A-GNFs were determined by specific surface area and pore size analyzer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and inductive coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). The electrochemical properties of Pt-Ru/A-GNFs catalysts were also analyzed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments. From the results, the A-GNFs carbon supports activated with 4 g of KOH (A4g-GNFs) showed that the highest specific surface areas. In addition, the A4g-GNFs led to uniform dispersion of Pt-Ru onto A4g-GNFs, resulting in the enhancement of electrochemical activity of Pt-Ru catalysts.

  • In this study, we prepared the activated graphite nanofibers (A-GNFs) via chemical activation with KOH reagent. The effect of A-GNFs on the surface and textural properties of Ni-loaded graphite nanofibers (Ni/GNFs) was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). The textural properties of samples were investigated by $N_2$/77K adsorption isotherms. The electrochemical performances were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. As a results, the electrochemical performances of Ni/GNFs were improved with usage of A-GNFs. This could be interpreted by the high specific surface area and large total pore volume of the A-GNFs.

  • 박성현, 김재주 교수님이 공업통계의 교육현황과 1990년도 여름에 공업진흥청에서 전국 KS 및 등급업체를 대상으로 실시한 "품질 실태조사"의 결과를 근거로 한 공업통계 사용의 실태조사와 이에 따른 공업통계의 문제점의 지적과 그 활성화 방안 등을 비교적 소상하게 제시하셨습니다. 제시한 6가지 활성화 방안에 대체로 동감하며 저의 견해를 다음과 같이 추가합니다. 첫째로, 기술자들이 불확실성의 법칙을 이해해야 합니다. 둘째로, 박성현, 김재주 교수님이 제안하신 산학공동체제의 필요성에 부연하여, 통계학회와 공업의 다른 분야의 학회, 예를 들면 전자,전산공학회, 화학공학회, 토목공학회 등과의 교류도 중요하다고 생각합니다.하다고 생각합니다.

  • Hydrogen atom transfer reactions, $RNH_2+CH_3{\to}RNH+CH_4\;where\;R=H\;and\;CH_3$, were studied by MINDO/3 MO method. It is expected that stable complex may exist between $CH_3\;and\;NH_3$. Transition state characteristics and activation parameters including activation entropies have been determined. In cases of absolute and activation entropies, results are found to agree in general with ab initio and experimental values, wherever comparisions are possible.

Behavior of Solid Phase Crystallizations in Mechanical Damage Induced Hydrogenated and Non-Hydrogenated Amorphous Amorphous Silicon Thin Films (기계적 Damage 활성화 효과에 대한 수소화 및 비수소화 비정질 규소 박막의 고상 결정화 거동)

  • 비정질 실리콘박막의 고상결정화 특성에 대한 비정질 박막의 증착방법, 수소화 정도, 표면결정 활성화 에너지 변화 및 열처리 환경 영향을 X선 회절, EDAX, Raman 분광 분석으로 조사하였다. 저온(58$0^{\circ}C$)열처리 corning 시료에서 기판 barium(Ba), aluminum(AI) 성분의 막내 확산 임계열처리시간 및 확산에 기인 한 불안정 결정화 특성을 관찰하였다. 화학기상증착 석영 수소화 시료에서 hard damage 기계적 활성화 효과로 얻어진 조대결정립 결정화 특성을 X선 회절의 (111) 배향 상대강도 변화로 관찰 할 수 있었으며, 이는 활성화 효과에 의한 고상 결정화 시 핵생성과 성장속도변화로 다결정 실리콘의 전기적물성 향상 가능성을 보여주었다. Soft damage, bare 활성화 처리 수소화막의 결정화는 비정질 상의 혼재, 박막 응력등의 저품위 입계특성 및 미세결정립 성장 특성으로 관찰되었으나, 활성화 전처리에 의한 저온 및 고온(875$^{\circ}C$)단시간(30분) 결정화는 확인 되었다. 스퍼터링 비수소화 막의 결정화는 상변태 상태의 Raman 결정피크로 분석 되었으며, 결정화 거동에 선행막의 스퍼터링 및 비수소화 영향은 활성화효과에 관계없이 불완전 저품위 결정특성으로 확인되었다. AFM 표면형상은 3차원 island 성막특성을 보여주었고 표면거칠기정도는 높은 것으로 관찰되었다.

  • In this work, the coal tar pitch-based activated carbons (ACs) were prepared by KOH activation for electrode materials of supercapacitor. The effects of activation temperature on electrochemical performance of the ACs were investigated with cyclic voltammogram (CV) measurement. The textural and morphological properties of the ACs were measured by adsorption isotherms and field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) analyses, respectively. The experimental results indicated that the specific capacitance of the ACs increased with developing the micropore volume by activation temperature. As a result the specific capacitance of the ACs increased, owing to the development of micro pore volume of the ACs.

Performance Evaluation of Mortar Containing Mechanochemical Treated Self-Healing Admixtures (기계·화학 처리 자기치유 혼화재가 포함된 모르타르의 성능평가)

  • In this study, the applicability of mechanochemical process for the manufacture of self-healing admixtures and the effect of mechanochemical process on the self-healing performance were evaluated. The self-healing admixtures were adopted as a highly reactive materials(expansive agent, swelling material and crystal growth agent) for mechanochemical processes. The self-healing admixtures for the mechanochemical process application were evaluated by X-Ray Diffraction and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis, water permeability performance was used to evaluate self-healing performance of mortar. As a result of the evaluation, the self-healing performance of the WM(With-Mortar)3 sample to which mechanochemical process increased by 4.1% compared to the WM1 sample that was not treated, and the average healing index was 94.3%.
