The effect of turbulence and ignition energy on flame kernel growth in mathanol-air mixtures has been studied in a constant volume vessel. Experiments were made under different turbulent intensity conditions, ignition energy and over a range of equivalence ratio. Characteristics of turbulent flow were grasped by measurments of gas pressure and visualization of flame propagation. Flow velocity was measured by use of hot wire anemometer. A comparison of the effect of turbulence on ignition probability and flame kernel volume variation ratio is also presented.

Subaortic stenosis in a 2.9kg, 3-month-old pug dog and a 11 kg, 4-month-old Rott -weiler dog showing signs of dyspnea, tachypnea, anorexia, exercise intolerance and depression was diagnosed with electrocardiography, thoracic radiography and ultrasonographic evaluation. In electrocardiography, PR interval widening, R wave amplitude increase in lead II in case 2, ST segment depression and left axis deviation in case 1 and 2 were identified. In thoracic radiographs, enlarged left ventricle and atrium, caudal displacement of left crus of diaphragm and caudal part of cranial mediastinum widening were identified in ventrodorsal view. In lateral view, left ventricular enlargement, secondary dorsal deviation of trachea and post-stenotic dilation of aorta were seen. Also, edematous pulmonary changes were shown in peri-hilar area. In ultrasonographic examination, left ventricular dilatation, pericardial effusion and subaortic valvular ridge were seen with real time B-mode in right parasternal long axis view. Aortic valve regurgitation was identified in color-Doppler mode.

비대심장근육병증은 고양이에서 가장 흔히 발생하는 심장근육병증의 한 종류이다. 원인은 명확하지 않지만, 어떤 예에서는 유전적인 원인이 작용하는 것으로 생각된다. 혈전색전증은 심장근육병증이 있는 고양이에서 심각한 합병증을 야기한다. 서울대학교 동물병원에 구토 이후에 양쪽 후지마비를 주소로 내원한 2마리의 고양이에서, 내원 당시 고양이는 침울한 상태였고, 양쪽 후지는 청색증을 보였고 냉감과 통증을 나타내었다. 심잡음이 두 마리 모두에서 청취되었다. 일반 촬영과 심초음파 평가를 통해 비대심장근육병증을 진단하였다. 대동맥 분기부 혈전색전증을 복부 초음파 검사를 통해 확인하였다. 두 고양이 모두 폐사하였으며, 그 중 한 마리에서는 부검을 통해 비대심장근육병증 및 안장모양 혈전을 확인하였다.

Solid형 맥류의 사이레지 적성 판단을 위한 기초 연구로서 환경적 및 품종간 간의 특성과 solidness를 검토코자 포장과 온실에 추파하여 출수기에 각 절간중간부위 단면의 solidness 정도와 각 정간중의 공기 체적을 조사한 결과 1. Solid 맥류는 간벽이 두껍고 pith가 간의 내부로 차게 되어 절간중 공기 함유량이 줄어들어 Solidness가 증가되었다. 2. Solid 정도는 hollow 품종인 보통밀 원광이 14.6%, 트리티케일의 신기호밀이 15.0%인데 비하여 Solid 품종인 듀럼밀은 77.0-100%, 빵밀은 61.0-95.8%, 트리티케일은 18.7-37.0%로 맥종간 품종간 변이가 컸다. 3. 듀럼밀인 Golden ball의 solidness 정도는 포장 재배 조건에서보다 온실재배 조건에서 높았고 절위별로는 상위절 일수록 그리고 주간에서보다는 분벽지에서 각각 높았다. 4. 줄기당 함유 공기용량은 hollow품종인 신기호밀이 4.85ml인데 비하여 solid 품종들은 1.01-2.3ml로서 매우 낮아 사이레지 가공시 암착효율이나 유산 발효면에서 유리할 것으로 나타났다.

4년령의 중성화된 수컷 Dachshund가 만성적인 호흡곤란 및 청색증을 주증으로 내원하였다. 혈액검사에서 헤마토크리트 79.7%의 심각한 적혈구증가증이 확인되었다. 흉부 방사선 영상에서는 경도의 우심 종대가 관찰되었다. 심초음파 검사에서 좌심실유출로 대동맥판막 근위부에서 큰 심실 중격 결손이 확인되었으며, 도플러 검사에서 이 결손을 통한 우-좌 션트가 확인되었으며 조영 심초음파를 통하여 최종적으로 확진되었다. 이러한 진단적 결과 및 환자의 임상증상을 바탕으로 환자는 우-좌 단락 심실 중격 결손증으로 진단되었다. 사혈 및 산소 공급을 실시하였으나 환자는 내원 다음날 집에서 사망하였다. 본 증례보고에서는 심초음파를 통한 우-좌 단락 심실 중격 결손증의 진단을 서술하였다.
