Development of an Optical System for Iris Photographing (홍채 촬영용 광학계 개발)

  • We tried to design and manufacture an iris photographing optical-system which is used in the Oriental medicine or medical diagnostics. The whole system consists of a light source part, an image focusing part, a CCD transfer part and a diagnosis S/W. We designed the image focusing part to the reduction optical-system with 0.58X magnification of which the chromatic aberration is removed by using materials of FD60 and BACD5. The image focusing part's localization did big contribution in coot reduction of products. The manufactured iris photographing optical-system had superior performance in aspect that has stereoscopic effects of images in comparison with the foreigner's.

An Analysis of Optical Performance of the Finite Schematic Eye According to Iris Eccentricity and Visual Axis change (시축 변화와 홍채 편심에 따른 정밀모형안의 광학적 성능 분석)

  • Purpose: We investigated how the movement of iris and visual axis affects the finite schematic eye Methods: Using the schematic eye with the crystalline lens in the existing forms of the radial GRIN and the spherical GRIN, the iris centre was moved 0.5 mm in nasal direction and visual axis was tilted $5^{\circ}$ in same direction, with the additional degree of 2.5 down to locate the focal point in fovea. This study analyzed performance change of the optical system, designing it same as the real eye. Results: The whole aberration distribution showed a considerable difference in performance in comparison with the real eye; the biggest difference shown at the central field of optical system. The spherical aberration showed the biggest difference, and a peripheral power error and field curvature leaned toward (+) direction in aberration distribution. Conclusions: When designing the schematic eye with the performance similar with that of the real eye by taking into consideration the iris centre and visual axis, the aberration at the center field of optical system in particular should be corrected. Spherical aberration which showed the biggest difference should be corrected in the first place. In addition, a peripheral power error and field curvature that leaned toward (+) direction should be moved toward (-) direction.

  • Objectives Iridology is a field of study that diagnoses various systemic diseases through analysis of colors, structural characteristics and changes in iris. The purpose of this study was to review previously published study results of the iridology. Methods The studies were searched with the keyword "iridology" through search engines such as SCOPUS, Pub med, RISS, and NDSL. Total of 36 iridology-related studies published from 1980 to 2012 were analyzed. Results Most diagnoses of systemic disease through iris markings were insignificant. The studies on relevance of gene polymorphism and iris constitution were highly significant. The studies on relevance of Sasang constitution and iris constitution varied in results depending on diagnosis methods. The studies on relevance of iris constitution and diseases had significant results. The structural characteristics of iris were related to certain personality. Conclusions The studies on utility of iris diagnosis and diagnostic markings were negative, but the relevance of constitution, heredity, and iris diagnosis was positive. A persistent in-depth study on relevance of iris and constitution is needed in the future.

  • Today, leading smartphone manufacturers offer biometric technologies such as fingerprints, voice recognition, and iris patterns in their flagship models. These biometric technologies are used for authentication. Biometric authentications are widely used in device security and even in financial transaction. This paper examines cases where a user uses biometric authentication during financial transaction (both online and smartphone banking), and explains biometric for non-repudiation by digital signature. Finally, the paper also explains technical and legal requirements for biometric authentication in the area of financial services.

바이오인식 국제표준화 동향

  • 바이오인식기술은 사람의 지문 얼굴 홍채 정맥 등 신체적 특징(Physiological characteristics) 또는 음성 서명 자판 걸음걸이 등 행동적 특징(Behavioral characteristics)을 자동화된 IT 기술로 추출 저장하여 다양한 IT 기기로 개인의 신원을 확인하는 사용자 인증기술이다. 전통적으로 바이오인식기술은 출입국심사(전자여권, 승무원 승객 신원확인), 출입통제(도어락, 출입 근태관리), 행정(무인민원발급, 전자조달), 사회복지(미아찾기, 복지기금관리), 의료(원격의료, 의료진 환자 신원확인), 정보통신(휴대폰인증, PC 인터넷 로그인), 금융(온라인 뱅킹, ATM 현금인출) 등 다방면에서 폭넓게 보급되어 실생활 깊숙이 자리잡게 되었다. 2001년 미국의 911 테러사건으로 인하여 전 세계 국제공항 항만 국경에서 지문 얼굴 홍채 등 바이오정보를 이용한 출입국심사가 보편화됨과 동시에 ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37(Biometrics) 국제표준화기구를 중심으로 표준화가 급속도로 진행되어 왔다. 최근 들어 스마트폰 테블릿 PC 등 모바일기기에 지문 얼굴 등 바이오정보를 탑재하여 다양한 모바일 응용서비스를 가능하게 해주는 모바일 바이오인식 응용기술이 전 세계적으로 개발 보급되고, 삼성전자 페이팔 중심으로 바이오인식기술을 이용한 모바일 지급결제솔루션에 대하여 페이팔 구글 마이크로소프트 비자카드 마스터카드 등 미국 주도의 사실표준화협의체인 FIDO1), ITU-T SG17 Q9(Telebiometrics) 국제표준화기구를 중심으로 표준화가 진행되고 있다. 특히, 이러한 모바일 바이오인식기술은 스마트폰을 통한 비대면 인증기술 수단으로서 핀테크, 원격의료분야에서 중요한 요소기술로 작용될 전망이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 바이오인식 표준화를 위한 국외 표준화 기구를 소개하고, 각 기구별 표준화 현황을 살펴본다.

  • The continuous compaction response of zirconia powders prepared by different processing treatments was investigated. Though the yield point could be or not below 1 MPa, the change of slope was always observed at high pressure range around 60 MPa. Powder compaction was mainly governed by second compaction stage and compaction rate was decreased with increasing forming pressure. Rotary vacuum dried powder favored a high compaction density, whereas freeze dried and calcined powders favored an increase in the pressing efficiency. In order to extract more reliable information about powder compaction, it was necessary to use not only compaction response diagram but also compaction rate diagram.

  • Silica bricks had been in arc-furnace roofs of various sizes and steelmaking practices. The resulting materials were examined with reference to mineral and chemical changes. Silica bricks develope definite zones while in service. These zones represent a concentration gradient through the brick that results from the thermal gradient across the brick and from the furnace atmosphere. There are major brick losses by spalling as well as by melting of the hot-face surface in an iron-oxide rich liquid.

  • 본 고에서는 정교한 칼라 복사기와 디지탈 영상처리 기법의 발달과 함께 보안성에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있는 크레딧카드, 은행카드, 운전면허, Membership 카드 등에 적용될 수 있는 패턴인식기법에 대해 알아본다. 개인 ID의 확인을 위해 사용될 수 있는 패턴들은 지문, 얼굴모양, 홍채패턴, 서체, 손가락 구조, 음성패턴, 타이핑 리듬 등이다. 이들 특성들로부터 개인의 ID를 확인할 수 있는 방법들을 기존의 제안들을 중심으로 살펴본다.

Study on the Pigmentation of Albinic Bitterlings Acheilognathus signifer (Pisces; Cyprinidae) Based on Its Entire Body, Appendage and Eye (알비노 묵납자루의 부위별 색소발현에 관한 연구)

  • During an artificial breeding as a part of restoration of the endangered Korean bitterling Acheilognathus signifer, a small number of individuals exhibiting oculocutaneous albinism were produced. We compared the pigmentation and morphology of normal and albinic bitterlings by histological examination of skin samples obtained from 10 regions on the body, fins, and eyes. There were no differences in morphometry and in general morphology of skin between them. In normal bitterlings, pigment cells were better developed in the dorsal region, the upper part of caudal peduncle region, the choroid-retinal epithelium and iris than in other areas. In the albinic bitterling, however, pigment cells were present only in three parts of the dorsal region, the caudal and dorsal fin, which had few melanin cells. Albinic bitterlings also displayed deficient pigmentation in the choroid-retina pigment epithelium and iris. Although they had different pigmentation aspects in distribution and development between normal and albinic bitterlings, melanin cells were mainly present in the dorsal regions of the skin and eyes where are exposed directly to light.
