Characteristics of sedimentation of dredged soil is depended on the field condition and characteristics of dredged soil because dredged fill ground was formed by various field condition, sedimentation and self-weight consolidation process of dredged soil. Dredged fill ground is formed as separated sedimentary layer by characteristics of dredged soil. Therefore, it requires some special test method to consider a various field condition, characteristics of sedimentation and self-weight consolidation of dredged soil. In this study, in order to identify the characteristics of sedimentation of dredged soil with disposing velocity geo-centrifuge test and laser particle size analyzer were performed. As a results, river and mixed dredged soil show the separation sedimentation by soil particle size. And sedimentation of clayey dredged soil is parallel to the bottom surface of dredged fill space.
To investigate the changing patterns of microfilament and microtubule arrangement and influence of myocardial cells and colchicine to microfilament and microtubule formation in cardiac endothelial cells the authors carried out indirect immunofluorescence stain for actin and tubulin with supernatant monoclonal antibodies. Secondary antibodies were IgG FITC conjugate. The results were summerized as follows. Fiberform reactions were stronger in the cells with many processes and spread cytoplasm and they became weaker after the endothelial cells formed monolayer. In the endothelial cells cocultured with myocardial cells the fiberform of the microtubule became less visible compared to control group but fiberform of the microtubule maintained strong intensity as endothelial cells formed monolayer. In the group treated with colchicine, there were no visible differences in microfilaments compared to control group but fiberform of microtubule revealed weaker intensity after colchicine treatment. The intensity of microtubule fiberform returned to control level after 2 days.
A study was designed to investigate the sorption characteristics of binary mixtures of NaCl and sucrose or glucose stored at various relative humidities ranging from 46% to 92%. At low relative humidity below RH 65%, the sorption equilibrium was easily achieved, whereas at higher relative humidity values over 73%, all of the mixtures tended to cintinously absorb moisture with increase in storage time. A linear equation of log $({\frac{dw}{dt}})$ = a log(t) + log(b) was found to be valid between the sorption rate and storage time with respect to storage humidities. In sucrose-NaCl mixture, the slope showed a increasing tendency as the percentage of NaCl increased in the mixture, while that of glucose-NaCl mixture failed to show a definite trend. Plateaus were obtained when the amount of water absorbed was plotted on the X axis and the percent composition of mixture on the Y axis at different storage time. The shape of plateau was varied with respect to the kind of sugar-NaCl mixture, composition of the mixture and relative humidities. A linearity was found between log(1-Aw) and the amount of water absorbed over the Aw range 0.73-0.92 and the slope was affected by the kind and composition of sugar-NaCl mixtures.
This study attempted to examine the sensory quality, the degree of gelatization, color, texture and moisture content of Backsulgi added with Jobs'tears and Brown rice. The results were as follows: In sensory quality Backsulgi added with 10% Jobs'tears and Brown rice showed the most favorable sensory evaluation. In view of color, flavor, afterswallowing and overall quality, 10% Backsulgi was preferable than those of other Backsulgi added with Jobs'tears and Brown rice. The moisture contents was about 36-40%. There are not changed after 24hr and 48hr. L-value on the control group was high, 90.08. and Al, A2, A3 and A4 group were 80.65, 71.63, 68.66 and 61.50 respectively. L-value on the Backsulgi added with Jobs'tears was decreased as the amount of Jobs'tears. The gelatinization of Backsulgi added with Jobs'tears and Brown rice was Increased as the amount of Jobs'tears and Brown rice.
Cotinine, one of nicotine metabolites, has been blown to reduce 4-(methylnitro samino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone(NNK)- induced $O^{6}$MeG DNA adducts significantly in A/J mice when administered together with NNK. In order to examine the effects of phyto-extract mixture on the conversion of cotinine from nicotine, cellular and clinical experiments were carried out. When the phyto-extract mixture was added to culture media, human liver cells (FLCFR5) produced cotinine from nicotine 2~3 times compared to the control. The phyto-extract mixture which was microinjected into Xenopus oocyte along with nicotine showed the almost similar production of cotinine compared with the results of hepatic cell culture. In clinical test employing 17 to 20 healthy men, concentrations of urinary cotinine derived from smoking after taking photo-extract mixture increased up to 2 times compared to the control group. These results indicatethat the phyto-extract mixture can increase the metabolic efficiency of nicotine to cotinine, leading to the reduced formation of $O^{6}$MeG DNA adducts.

Quality properties of legumes (Seoritae and red bean) with soaking of 3% NaCl solution and microwave dying were evaluated. The samples were soaking with 3% NaCl at $25^{\circ}C$ for 6 hr(Seoritae) and 12 hr(red bean). Moisture content of Seoritae and red bean after soaking are 35.8%, and 35.1% respectively. The samples were dried with microwave treatment and cooling with microwave treatment combination secondly to $12{\sim}14%$ for moisture content Hardness of Seoritae was decreased from $12,863g_f$ to $3,309g_f$. There was a difference between varieties on color value. Hardness of cooked rice with ratio of milled rice and legumes(7:3) was $3,165g_f$ which is lower value compared to regular cooked mixed rice. Sensory evaluation of cooked mixed rice showed that treated samples have higher scores on color, flavor, taste, texture and overall acceptability values than those of control.
This experiment was conducted to investigate processing method and usage of dried yam, "Sanyak". Jujube showed the higher value in extract, brix and extract content compared with Danggui and Sanyak. Mixing of Sanyak with Jujube and Danggui was proper to raise extract and taste. Brix and extract content was $1.17^{\circ}$ and 1.80% higher, respectively, in 12 hours of extraction than in 8 hours of extraction. The apt mixing ratio was 3 : 4 : 3 (Sanyak : Danggui : Jujube). By adding 70% of glucose and 10% of lactose to 20% of extract, good viscosity and appearance of paste were obtained. 1.5mm of granule thickness was proper in phase of manufacturing, drying and shaping.
Objectives: The purpose of the present in vitro study was to evaluate the biocompatibility of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) mixed with glass ionomer cement (GIC), and to compare it with that of MTA, GIC, IRM and SuperEBA. Materials and Methods: Experimental groups were divided into 3 groups such as 1 : 1, 2 : 1, and 1 : 2 groups depending on the mixing ratios of MTA powder and GIC powder. Instead of distilled water, GIC liquid was mixed with the powder. This study was carried out using MG-63 cells derived from human osteosarcoma. They were incubated for 1 day on the surfaces of disc samples and examined by scanning electron microscopy. To evaluate the cytotoxicity of test materials quantitatively, XTT assay was used. The cells were exposed to the extracts and incubated. Cell viability was recorded by measuring the optical density of each test well in reference to controls. Results: The SEM revealed that elongated, dense, and almost confluent cells were observed in the cultures of MTA mixed with GIC, MTA and GIC. On the contrary, cells on the surface of IRM or SuperEBA were round in shape. In XTT assay, cell viability of MTA mixed with GIC group was similar to that of MTA or GIC at all time points. IRM and SuperEBA showed significantly lower cell viability than other groups at all time points (p < 0.05). Conclusions: In this research MTA mixed with GIC showed similar cellular responses as MTA and GIC. It suggests that MTA mixed with GIC has good biocompatibility like MTA and GIC.

Padori beach is one of the representative composite mixed beach in Korea and shows divert geomorphic landscape change. It belongs to the Taean National Park. The purpose of this study is to clarify movement mechanism of sediments from sediment distribution of Padori beach associated with morphology. In addition, it is to explain morphological landscape change under different wave and tide condition in the composite mixed beach consisting of a dissipative low tide terrace and a reflective beach face with a high tide range of 5 to 7m. The results of this study are: First, the mean grain size of sediments becomes smaller from the south of the beach, where there is a wide wave-cut platform, to the north because gravels are supplied from the wave-cut platform as well as sea-cliff in the south of the beach. A sedimentation pattern of the sandy gravel on the beach face and gravel on the berm, and gradation phenomena of grain size on cross-shore and alongshore direction in the beach can be explained with a pattern of sediment movement, overpassing, in the composite mixed beach. Second, micro-topography on beach face and berm were changed depending on effects of wave height and tide. As a result, in low-wave energy environments, a berm is developed in large size, and beach cusps are formed on the upper beach face, while in high-wave energy environments, a berm is built up in relatively small size, and mixture of sediments occur on the upper beach face.

Inorganic nutrient concentrations in relation to springtime physical parameters of the Yellow Sea were investigated during April 1996. Three major water masses, i.e., the Yellow Sea Warm Current Water (YSWC), Coastal Current Water (CCW) and Changjiang River Diluted Water (CRDW), prevailed in the study area. Water masses were vertically wel1 mixed throughout the study area, and nutrients were supplied adequately from bottom to surface layer. As result of ample nutrients supplied by vertical mixing together with progressed daylight condition, springtime phytoplankton blooms were observed, which was responsible for the depletion of inorganic nutrients in surface water column. Low nutrients concentration in bottom water of the central Yellow Sea (Stn. D9; nitrate: <2 ${\mu}$M, phosphate: <0.3 ${\mu}$) was associated with the entrance of YSWC which is characterized by high temperature and salinity. Influenced by runoff and vertical tidal mixing, CCW with high nutrient concentrations probably associated with China and Korea coastal waters with high nutrients concentration. For the local scale of inorganic nutrient distribution, nutrient transfers from coast to central areas were limited due to restriction imposed by tidal fronts (Stn. D6) and thus affected the horizontal nutrient profiles. Relatively high phytoplankton biomass was observed in the tidal front (Chl-${\alpha}$=12.38 ${\mu}$gL$^{-1}$) during the study period. Overall, the springtime nutrient distribution patterns in the Yellow Sea appeared to be affected by: (1) Large-scale influx of YSWC with low nutrient concentrations and CCW with high nutrient concentrations influenced by Korea and China coastal waters; (2) vertical mixing of water mass and phytoplankton distribution; and (3) local-scale tidal front as well as phytoplankton blooms alongthe tidal front.
