Fundamental Physical Properties of Cement Composites Containing Fineness Reject Ash (고분말 리젝트애시를 혼입한 시멘트복합체의 기본물성에 관한 연구)

  • This study considerated reject ash, wastes of coal-fired power plants, to use mineral admixtures for cement. The pozzolan activity selected the fineness of the efficient reject ash through comparison and it compared to the fly ash that are widely used for concrete mixed material. Cement composites was prepared replacing of slag cement by fineness reject ash and fly ash, and properties of cement composites was tested by paste(setting time, fluidity, instrumental analysis) and mortar(compressive strength). Instrumental analysis results showed hydration reaction of fineness reject ash was not different from fly ash, but had more dense micro structures. Results of physical properties showed fineness reject ash shorten setting time, increased compressive strength compared by fly ash. Therefore using fineness reject ash with $6,000cm^2$/g to concrete mineral admixtures or cement composites was might be possible and could contribute to improve properties of concrete.

Determination of Glucose in Whole Blood by Chemiluminescence Method (화학발광법에 의한 전혈 중의 당 정량)

  • A method for the determination of glucose in human whole blood by chemiluminescence method using a stopped flow injection system has been studied. The method is based on the differences in the chemiluminescence intensities of luminol due to the different amounts of hydrogen peroxide produced from the glucose oxidase catalyzed reaction. The enzyme reactor was prepared by immobilization of glucose oxidase on aminopropyl glass beads and the chemiluminescence from a flow cell was measured by means of an optical fiber bundle. In order to obtain the optimum experimental conditions, effects of pH for the chemiluminogenic solution and enzyme reactor, flow rate and temperature on the chemiluminescence intensity were investigated. The calibration curve obtained under optimum experimental conditions was linear over the range from $1.0{\times}10^{-1}$ mM to 7.0 mM and the detection limit was $6.0{\times}10^{-2}$ mM. The proposed method was applied to the determination of glucose in whole human blood sample and the results were compared with those obtained by an official method. The present method was also evaluated by the results of recovery experiments.

Micromechanics-based Analysis on Tensile Behavior of the Sprayed FRP Composites with Chopped Glass Fibers (유리단섬유로 보강된 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료의 인장거동에 관한 미세역학 기반 해석)

  • In this paper, experimental tests and theoretical studies were carried out to evaluate the tensile behavior of the sprayed FRP composite with chopped glass fiber. For this, a series of tensile strength tests with various strain rates were conducted on the specimens of the matrix and sprayed FRP composite. Sprayed FRP composite contained chopped glass fibers with fiber length of 15mm and a specific volume fraction of fibers of 25 %. An inverse simulation was conducted to simulate the strain rate sensitivity based on the present experimental data of the epoxy resin. The simulated viscosity value is adapted to the micromechanics-based viscoelastic damage model(Yang et al., 2012), and the overall tensile behavior of sprayed FRP composites is predicted. It was seen from the comparative study between present experimental data and predication results that the proposed methodology can be used to predict the viscoelastic behavior of the sprayed FRP composite.

An Experimental Study on High Strength Concrete Using the LCD Waste Glass Powder (LCD 폐유리 미분말을 사용한 고강도 콘크리트에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Various display devices has been increasing also using waste LCD glass in accordance with the used developed, because circumstances that are most landfill or incineration, are needed research on recycling measure of the using waste LCD glass. Therefore, in this study, to try to assess the basic mechanical properties of concrete mixed with using waste LCD glass micropowder through the room mixed test. According to the study results, the more replacement rate increases, the characteristics of the concrete showed a tendency to decrease slightly. However, according to the small value, it is expected to improve the advanced experimental values by refining the grain size of the materials used to be processed into spheres.

Compressive Strength and Ecological Characteristics of Mortars Using Expanded Vermiculite Absorbing Bacteria (박테리아를 흡착한 팽창질석 기반의 친생태 모르타르 개발)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the compressive strength development and ecological characteristics of mortars using expanded vermiculite absorbing bacteria as a fundamental investigation to develop precast eco-concrete products. For bacterial growth under the high-alkalinity and high-dried environments within hardened mortars and for creating plant growth function to mortars, Bacillus alcalophilus and Rhodoblastus acidophilus were separated and cultured. The cultured bacteria were absorbed into expanded vermiculite selected for bacteria shelter. The expanded vermiculite absorbing bacteria was then added into mortar mixture as a volumetric replacement of fine aggregate. Test results showed that the developed technology is very effective in enhancing the plant growth onto the hardened mortars and reducing the COD and T-N concentration in raw water. The optimum replacement level of expanded vermiculite absorbing bacteria can be recommended to be less than 10% considering the compressive strength development and cost of mortars along with the ecological effectiveness.

Case Study on the Mixing Proportions of 100 Year Life Time Concrete (내구수명 100년 해양 콘크리트의 배합사례)

  • This study shows some results of concrete mixing design has 100 years life time. The ratios of ternary blended cement are 4 types. the ratios of blast furnace slag cement are 3 types. In this case study, 40%, 50% and 60% replacement ratio of blast furnace slag(BSF) to OPC are used, also 35:45:20, 30:35:35, 30:40:30 and 35:40:25 ratio of OPC:BSF:FA are used. The mixing design tests include slump, air content, compressive strength and thermal properties of concrete. The compressive strength tests are executed at the age of 3, 7, 28, 56, and 91 days. The coefficient of chloride diffusion is determined by NT Build 492 method. The purpose of this study is to shows the results of case studies as the ratio of blended cement varies.

Characteristics of Thin Film Electric Resistance Probe Prepared at Various Sputtering Condition (박막형 전기저항식 부식속도 측정 센서의 금속층 증착조건에 따른 전기화학적 특성 변화)

  • 현장에서 부식속도를 측정하는 방법의 하나인 전기저항 프로브(Electric Resistance Probe, ER probe)는 시편이 부식되는 양에 비례하여 저항이 증가하는 원리를 이용한 것으로 부식기구에 무관하게 직접적인 부식속도의 측정이 가능하다. 그러나, 와이어나 판형으로 기계 가공된 프로브로 제작되어 미량의 부식에는 저항변화폭이 작아 긴 측 정시간이 필요하고, 특히 국부 부식의 경우 부식이 상당히 진행되더라도 전체 저항변 화가 크지 않은 문제점이 있다. 박막형 전기저항프로브는 미량의 부식에서도 저항변화폭이 크게 나타나도록하기 위 하여 금속 박막을 스퍼터링으로 증착하여 동일 부식량에서 저항 변화율을 크게 향상 시킨 프로브이다. 이 프로브는 좁은 선폭(O.25-1mm)의 세선을 복수개 포함한 형상으로 프로브를 설계하여 핏팅이 발생하면 하나의 세선이 끊어지도록 하여 국부적인 부식이 일어날 경우에도 저항변화가 크게 나타나도록 고안되었다. 탄소강의 경우 일반적인 환경에서는 부식속도가 결정립의 크기, 가공경화의 정도등 에 민감하게 변화되지 않는 것으로 알려져 있으나, 박막으로 증착되었을 경우에는 별 크재료와는 전혀 다른 미세구조를 가지므로 벌크의 부식거동과는 다른 거동을 보일 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 증착조건을 달리하여 증착된 철 박막의 결정성, 비저항, 표면 상태, 조성등을 4 point 프로브, SEM, Auger spectroscopy등을 이용하여 조사하고 각각의 전위, 부식속도등과의 상관관계를 조사하였다. 증착된 박막의 비저항은 증착중 혼입된 산소의 양에 따라 매우 민감하게 변화하였다. 산소가 l0at%이상 함유된 철은 강의 알려진 비저항보다 수십배 높은 비저항을 보이며, 부식전위가 높아지고 실제 부식속도 또한 매우 낮게 나타났다. 박막의 부식거동은 미량 불순물에 의해서도 크게 변화하였는데 동일한 수준의 비저 항을 갖는 철 박막에서도 99.9% 순도의 철을 타켓으로 하여 증착된 막은 일반 저탄소 강을 타켓으로 하여 증착된 막보다 훨씬 낮은 부식속도를 보였다.

Homopolymer Distribution in Polystyrene - Poly(methyl methacrylate) Diblock Copolymer (폴리스티렌-폴리(메틸 메타크릴레이트) 이종 블록 공중합체 내의 단일중합체 분포)

  • Homopolymer distribution in block copolymer/homopolymer blends was investigated as a function of homopolymer concentration and homopolymer molecular weight. The deuterated poly(methyl methacrylate) or polystyrene was blended with a deuterated polystyrene-poly(methyl methacrylate) diblock copolymer up to a concentration of 20 wt%. Samples were characterized by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), neutron reflectivity and transmission electron microscopy. The block copolymer with a thin-film geometry formed alternating lamellar microdomains oriented parallel to the substrate surface. By adding the homopolymer, the microdomain structure was significantly disturbed. As a consequence, a poorly ordered morphology appeared when the homopolymer concentration exceeded 15 wt%. Increasing the homopolymer concentration and/or the homopolymer molecular weight caused the microdomains to swell less uniformly, resulting in segregation of the homopolymer toward the middle of the microdomains.

Evaluation of Self-Compaction Property of Section Enlargement Strengthening Concrete (단면확대 보강 적용을 위한 콘크리트의 자기충전 성능 평가)

  • The objective of this study is to modify the mixture proportions of concrete that were developed for section enlargement strengthening elements using a specially designed binder composed of 5% ultra-rapid hardening cement, 10% polymer, and 85% ordinary portland cement in order to assign the self-compaction property to such concrete. The self-compaction abilities of concrete were estimated by the performance criteria specified in JSCE and EFNARC provions. Test results showed that the increase in the unit binder content at the consistent water-to-bider ratio led to increase in viscosity of fresh concrete but did not exhibit the decrease in the fluidity due to a greater viscosity. The mixture proportioning of self-compaction section enlargement concrete could be considered at the following conditions: unit binder contents of $430kg/m^3{\sim}470kg/m^3$ and fine aggregate-to-total aggregate ratios of 40%~46% at the water-to-binder ratio of 38%.

Reactions and Properties of a RT-Castable PU Elastomer Modified with Oligomeric Diol (올리고머형 디올로 개질된 상온주형용 PU 엘라스토머의 반응과 물성)

  • An oligomeric diol was utilized as a modifier for the reaction rate and mechanical properties of a RT-castable polyurethane elastomer. Both the reaction rate and the tensile strength of the blend samples, in which the modifier and the base resins were mixed with one-shot method, showed an exponential decrease as the increase of modifier concentration. Thermal analysis method of Kissinger was also effectively applied in the present study, showing good linearity in the plot of ln $(q/T^2_p)$ vs. $(1/T_p)$ and activation energy $E_a$ of 44.80 kJ/mol, which is similar to the general castable polyurethane. In the mechanical properties, remarkable decrease of strength was found by the addition of modifier concentration range up to about 20 phr, while characteristic elongation property of the elastomer, high elongation at lower strength, was observed over 20 phr of the modifier. Exponential decrease of the break strength of the blend sample exhibited that the mechanical properties of the blend might be considerably sensitive to the modifier concentration.
