Study on the Origin of Rapakivi Texture in Bangeojin Granite (방어진 화강암에 나타나는 라파키비 조직의 성인에 관한 연구)

  • Phenocrysts with rapakivi texture are easily observed in Bangeojin granite. The rapakivi texture is composed of inner pinkish alkali feldspars and white-colored mantling plagioclase. The Bangeojin granite distinctively includes lots of mafic microgranular enclaves and can be divided into five rock facies: (1) enclave-poor granite (EPG); (2) enclave-rich granite (ERG); (3) mafic microgranular enclave (MME); (4) hybrid zone between mafic microgranular enclave and granite (HZ); (5) hybrid zone-like enclaves (HLE). The rapakivi textures are observed in these five rock facies with no difference in shape and size. Plagioclase mantle commonly shows dendritic texture that is an important indicator to know the rapakivi genesis. The mantling texture would indicate supercooling condition during magma solidification process. In addition, mafic microgranular enclaves would imply the magma mingling environment. The magma mixing process had possibly caused the mantling texture. An abundance of rapakivi phenocrysts in HZ and the influxing phenomenon of the phenocrysts into MME support that there were physical chemical exchanges during the mingling. And this model of the magma mixing/mingling explain well the heterogeneous distribution of the rapakivi phenocrysts in the five rock facies. Therefore the rapakivi textures in the Bangeojin granite would have been formed by magma mixing process.

Nucleotide Sequences and Expression of cDNA Clones Encoding Uricase II in Canavalia lineata (해녀콩 Uricase II의 cDNA 염기서열과 발현)

  • 대두의 uricase II cDNA를 탐침으로 plaque 혼성화 방법에 의해 해녀콩의 뿌리를 cDNA library로부터의 두 개의 phage 클론(λCINUO-01, λCINUO-02)을 선별하였다. 두 phage 클론은 약 1.6 kb와 1.0 kb의 insert를 갖고 있었으며 이들의 염기서열을 결정하기 위하여 pUC19과 pBSKS vector에 subcloing(pcCLNUO-01, pcCLNUO-02)하였다. Sanger법에 의해 염기서열을 결정한 결과, 두 클론은 각각 1,611 bp와 1,024 bp로 이루어져 있었으며 pcCINUO-01은 308개의 아미노산, pcCINUO-02는 301개의 아미노산을 암호화하는 open reading frame(ORF)을 갖고 있었다. 두 클론의 ORF의 염기서열은 대두의 uricase II와 각각 88.9%, 89.3%의 상동성을 보여주었으며, 아미노산 서열은 84.1%, 85.4%의 상동성을 보여주었다. pcCINUO-01의 경우, 종결코돈으로부터 313 NT 하류쪽에 진핵생물의 poly(A) 첨가신호인 AATAAA 서열이 존재하였으며 이로부터 21 NT 하류쪽에 17 잔기의 poly(A)가 존재하였다. 두 클론의 염기서열에서 추정된 아미노산 서열의 카르복시 말단에는 세포질에서 합성된 몇몇 단백질들이 peroxisome으로 수송되는데 필요한 신호서열인 Ser-Lys-Leu-COOH 서열이 존재하고 있었다. 두 클론의 염기서열을 토대로 아미노산 조성을 살펴본 결과, 염기성 아미노산(Arg, His, Lys)과 산성 아미노산(Asp, Glu)이 각각 46 대 35, 47 대 35의 비를 보여주었는데 이는 uricase II 단백질의 염기성 성질을 보여주는 결과로 추정된다. Northern 혼성화 결과 해녀콩에서 uricase II는 뿌리혹에서만 특이적으로 발현됨을 알 수 있었고 게놈 혼성화 반응 결과는 uricase II 유전자가 해녀콩 게놈상에 유전자 가족으로는 존재할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

  • We introduce a hybrid scheduling in a multi-path poor scattering full-duplex (FD) system, which consists of one multi-antenna FD base station and a large number of single-antenna half-duplex mobile stations. Our hybrid scheduling utilizes partial channel state information at the transmitter. In particular, unlike the conventional scheduling method using opportunistic transmission for both uplink and downlink, the proposed scheme combines a random transmit beamforming for downlink and a zero forcing beamforming for uplink. As our main result, via computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed scheme has a superior sum-rate performance than that of the conventional scheduling method beyond a certain signal-to-noise ratio regime.

Electrochemical Characterization of Hybrid Semiconductor-Based Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (혼성반도체로 제조된 염료감응형 태양전지의 전기화학적 특성)

  • In this study, the $TiO_{2}/V_{2}O_{5}$ hybrid semiconductors were prepared by mixing $TiO_{2}$ and $V_{2}O_{5}$, and a subsequent smash process to reduce the recombination of electron and improve the efficiency of solar cells. Dye-sensitized solar cells were constructed using the resultant hybrid semiconductor, and their electrochemical properties were also investigated. The photocurrent-voltage curve obtained with the cells indicated a significant increase in the efficiency from 2.9 to 5.7% by the factor of 2 compared to the result obtained only with $TiO_{2}$. It is believed that the introduction of $V_{2}O_{5}$ effectively transport electrons in the $TiO_{2}$ conduction band to FTO glass and suppress recombination with the dye and/or the electrolyte, thus yielding an efficient performance of the dye sensitized solar cell. The impedance values also indicated a decrease of resistance in the interface of $TiO_{2}$/dye/electrolyte supporting the constructive contributions of the smashed $TiO_{2}/V_{2}O_{5}$ hybrid semiconductors for the efficiency.

  • SIP-based tightly coupled conference, which has a centrally located conference server for controlling and management, can be classified several models according to location of focus and mixer. These are centralized server model, endpoint server model, media server component model and distributed mixing model. However each model has its strength and weakness. In this paper, we propose and implement a SIP-based effective hybrid-type conference model which decreases amount of SIP signaling messages, lowers load of server media mixer, and can be easily expandable to large scale conference. In this model, when the number of participants exceeds a pre-defined limit, the conference server selects some participants which posses specific functions and let them share functions of notifications of conference state event package and media mixing. When each participant subscribes conference state event package to the server, it can indicates its possession of such functions by a specific header message. The server stores the indication to the conference information database, and later uses it to select participants for load sharing. The performance of our proposed model is evaluated by experiments.

  • Recently, domestic railway related institutes are developing pantographs for high speed trains; to lighten the upper arm, this device has a composite structure of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) and aluminum instead of conventional steel. In the case of KTX-Sancheon, the pantograph must have a large current capacity because this system is of power-car type, supplying all necessary power for the train through a single pantograph. If the thickness of the pipe is arbitrarily increased in order to increase the current carrying capacity, without analyzing the thermal characteristics of the aluminum pipe, the increase in the weight of the upper arm may cause degradation of the current collecting performance. Therefore, in this paper, using the thermal analysis technique, we analyze the temperature change characteristics of the aluminum pipe of the upper arm over time, while receiving power at the stationary state of the KTX-Sancheon; we also examine the adequacy of the minimum thickness of the aluminum pipe in accordance with the proposed pantograph flow capacity.

The Effect of the Surfactant on the Migration and Distribution of Immiscible Fluids in Pore Network (계면활성제가 공극 구조 내 비혼성 유체의 거동과 분포에 미치는 영향)

  • The geological CO2 sequestration in underground geological formation such as deep saline aquifers and depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs is one of the most promising options for reducing the atmospheric CO2 emissions. The process in geological CO2 sequestration involves injection of supercritical CO2 (scCO2) into porous media saturated with pore water and initiates CO2 flooding with immiscible displacement. The CO2 migration and distribution, and, consequently, the displacement efficiency is governed by the interaction of fluids. Especially, the viscous force and capillary force are controlled by geological formation conditions and injection conditions. This study aimed to estimate the effects of surfactant on interfacial tension between the immiscible fluids, scCO2 and porewater, under high pressure and high temperature conditions by using a pair of proxy fluids under standard conditions through pendant drop method. It also aimed to observe migration and distribution patterns of the immiscible fluids and estimate the effects of surfactant concentrations on the displacement efficiency of scCO2. Micromodel experiments were conducted by applying n-hexane and deionized water as proxy fluids for scCO2 and porewater. In order to quantitatively analyze the immiscible displacement phenomena by n-hexane injection in pore network, the images of migration and distribution pattern of the two fluids are acquired through a imaging system. The experimental results revealed that the addition of surfactants sharply reduces the interfacial tension between hexane and deionized water at low concentrations and approaches a constant value as the concentration increases. Also it was found that, by directly affecting the flow path of the flooding fluid at the pore scale in the porous medium, the surfactant showed the identical effect on the displacement efficiency of n-hexane at equilibrium state. The experimental observation results could provide important fundamental information on immiscible displacement of fluids in porous media and suggest the potential to improve the displacement efficiency of scCO2 by using surfactants.

  • Busan migmatitic gneisses in the northeastern margin of the Ogcheon zone have been studied petrologically in order to clarify their origin. Petrochemical and mineralogical studies show that the gneisses are Precambrian basemental paragneisses and the rocks were migmatized more intensively than the Bagdalryeong gneisses which have been known to constitute the basemental gneisses of Ogcheon zone. K-Ar biotite isotopic ages are $150.79{\pm}3.37Ma$ in Busan migmatitic gneiss and $191{\pm}4.27Ma$ in Bagdalryeong gneisses. These ages seem to be isotopic homogenised ages. Progressive regional metamorphisms are predominent in the studied area showing greenschist facies, epidote amphibolite facies and amphibolite facies toward N-W direction.

  • Biomolecular computing is a new computing paradigm that uses biomolecules such as DNA for information representation and processing. The huge number of molecules in a small volume and the innate massive parallelism inspired a novel computation method, and various computation models and molecular algorithms were developed for problem solving. In the meantime, the use of biomolecules for information processing supports the possibility of DNA computing as an application for biological problems. It has the potential as an analysis tool for biochemical information such as gene expression patterns. In this context, a DNA computing-based model of a biomolecular perceptron has been proposed and the result of its experimental implementation was presented previously. The weight encoding and weighted sum operation, which are the main components of a biomolecular perceptron, are based on the competitive hybridization reactions between the input molecules and weight-encoding probe molecules. However, thermodynamic symmetry in the competitive hybridizations is assumed, so there can be some error in the weight representation depending on the probe species in use. Here we suggest a generalized model of hybridization reactions considering the asymmetric thermodynamics in competitive hybridizations and present a weight encoding method for the reliable implementation of a biomolecular perceptron based on this model. We compare the accuracy of our weight encoding method with that of the previous one via computer simulations and present the condition of probe composition to satisfy the error limit.
