Genetic Analysis of Polygonati Rhizoma and Polygonati odorati Rhizoma using Random Amplified Microsatellite Polymorphism (RAMP를 이용한 황정과 위유의 유전적 분석)

  • Two herbal medicines of the Polygonatum genus, namely Polygonati Rhizoma and Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma, are difficult to distinguish from each other through exterior morphologic aspects. Furthermore, because the standard components for physiochemical distinction have not yet been standardized, the identification of these medicines through botanic taxology is based on genetic methods of random amplified microsatellite polymorphism (RAMP). For the RAMP evaluation, we used five sets of UBC microsatellite primers 811, 818, 834, 836, 842 and random primer M1. Although no specific band that could clearly distinguish Polygonati Rhizoma from Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma was found, 11 Polygonatum plants could be divided into two groups by this method. P. sibiricum and P. stenophyllum were classified to group I and the others were to group II. As P. sibiricum and P. stenophyllum were very similar in genetic and morphologic perspective, the results suggest that P. stenophyllum belongs to the Polygonati Rhizoma family.

  • The zoeal development of the pilumnid crab, Pilumnus minutus De Haan, 1835 consisted of 4 zoeal stages. The duration of the zoeal stages was at least 15 days at $25^{\circ}C$. The morphology of the zoeal stage is described in detail, and comparisons are made with the known larvae of other species of the family pilumnidae. The Pilumnus minutus zoea strongly resembles zoeae of other species of the genus Pilumnus in the mouthpart setation and the carapace spines, but shows some differences in the abodominal lateral knobs. the Pilumnus minutus zoea has some affinities with the Parapilumnus trispinosus zoea by having the abodominal lateral knobs on somites 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  • In order to identify the bacteria living on the cocoons in Korea, the isolated bacterias' morphological. cultural and physiological characters has been determined through the detailed study. The second aim of this experiment was to protect against the bacteria which damage silk protein during storage. 1. The twelve strains of the bacteria were isolated and identified in the cocoons produced in Korea. The results of the identification are as the following. No 1, No 8; Bacillus subtilis variation No 2, ; Bacillus stearothermophilus No 3, ; Bacillus circulans No 5, No 6; Bacillus thuringiensis No 7, No 11; Bacillus brevis No 12, No l0; Bacillus cereus variation

Numerical taxonomy of tribe Forsythieae (Oleaceae) in Korea (한국산 개나리족(Tribe Forsythieae; Oleaceae)의 수리분류학적 연구)

  • Numerical analysis based on 33 morphological characters from 25 populations of 8 species of tribe Forsythieae in Korea was conducted to investigate the taxonomic delimitation and discuss the systematic relationships. In this study, Fontanesia phyllyreoides Labill was adopted as comparing outgroup to discuss the taxonomic status of Abeliophyllum distichum and elucidate the taxonomic relationships between tribe Forsythieae and tribe Fontanesiae. Based on the results of PCA, the sum of contributions for the total variance of three major principal components was 79.6% (PC1 54.2%, PC2 15.4% and PC3 10.0%, repectively). Two dimensional plotting from PCA results recognized three distinct generic clusters. Among the populations of Forsythia, two distinct groups were clustered as I. koreana-saxatilis-viridissima and II. ovata-nakaii. However, 15 populations of Abeliophyllum distichum were arranged randomly without any tendency, and the infraspecies of Abeliophyllum distichum could be recognized as individual variations. Fontanesia phyllyreoides Labill was clustered independently and intertribal limitation was clearly distinguished.

  • 태깅은 웹 2.0의 핵심 기술 중 하나로, 매우 유연하고 역동적인 분류 체계를 제공한다. 하지만 유연성과 역동성의 확보에 의해 계층 구조나 연관 관계와 같은 태그의 관계성이 부족하거나 존재하지 않는 한계점을 가지고 있는 것 또한 사실이다. 이런 한계점을 보완하기 위한 방법으로 계층 관계를 형성하기 위한 계층 클러스터링 방법과, 연관 관계를 형성하기 위한 협업 필터링 방법이 존재한다. 이 두 가지 방법은 태그의 관계성을 제공하지만, 연관 관계와 계층 관계 중 하나만 제공한다는 단점을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 태그 검색 시 연관 관계뿐 아니라 계층 구조의 탐색을 제공해주기 위한 태그 클러스터링 알고리즘을 설계하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 사용자 태그셋을 활용하여 태그의 유사성을 계산하는 방법을 제시하고, 기존의 시각화 방법(태그 구름)과 다른 새로운 형태로 시각화 할 수 있는 결과 데이터를 제공한다.

A Palynotaxonomic Study of the Korean Crassulaceae (한국산 돌나물과의 화분분류학적 연구)

  • Pollen morphology of four genera, 22 species of Korean Crassulaceae has been examined with light and scanning electron microscopy. The presence/absence of the aperture margo and granules was useful characters to clarify the generic boundaries, and the shapes of the streate were significant to delineate taxonomic relationships within the genus Sedum. The pollen grains of Korean Crassulaceae were small and medium in size. Hylotelephium viviparum has the smallest pollen grains, and H. viridescens the largest. The pollen grains are tricolporate, circular in polar view and were prolate to prolate-spheroidal in equatorial shape. Korean Crassulaceae species have striate grains. The close pollen morphological relationships among Hylotelephium, Meterostachys and Orostachys species were concordant to the results based on the previous molecular and morphological studies. The results of the clustering analysis using pollen characters support the segregation of Sedum sensu lato which has been proposed by the previous authors. Within the genus Sedum, S. kamtschatium is closely related to S. middendorffianum with granules on the surface of the pollen grains. Sedum polytrichoides, a member of the Sedum, was clustered to the species of the Meterostachys, Hylotelephium and Orostachys, and needs to reexamine the taxonomic status. O. malacophyllus collected at Chungdong-Jin was significantly differ from the same species from Gampo in pollen and morphological characters.

A Morphological Study of Symplocaceae in Korea (한국산 노린재나무과의 형태학적 연구)

  • The morphological characters for 4 taxa of Korean Symplocaceae were examined. Based on morphological examination, numerical analysis was performed to clarify the taxonomic relationships among the taxa. It was found that epidermal characters of leaves, cellular deposition of petals, cellular boundary of petioles, growth of stigmas and pollen grains and their surfaces were useful diagonostic characters. From the results of PCA analysis, four taxa were grouped as species clusters including each populations. Four species of Symplocos were clustered as species groups with clear delimitation. Morphological, numerical, and palynological analyses supported the previous morphological studies on this family.

Morphological Characteristics of Baculum in Four Bats (익수류 4종의 음경골 형태에 관한 기초연구)

  • The morphological characteristics of the baculum were compared among Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Hypsugo alaschanicus, Vespertilio sinensis, and Murina hilgendorfi. Their bacula were located at the distal end but their shapes were differed among species. V. sinensis had the longest baculum (mean=7.27 mm), followed by R. ferrumequinum (mean=5.02 mm), H. alaschanicus (mean=2.60 mm) and M. hilgendorfi (mean=2.15 mm). The baculum of R. ferrumequinum was Y-shaped, with a pointed tip and that of V. sinensis was long and conical. However, the baculum of H. alaschanicus was I-shaped, with the widths of proximal and distal ends larger than that of the shaft. The baculum of M. hilgendorfi was small, and oval shaped. The shaft of the baculum of R. ferrumequinum and H. alaschanicus was linear in shape, whereas that of V. sinensis was curved towards the distal end, and that of M. hilgendorfi was bent upward. The results showed that the baculum morphology differed among these four species. These findings can be utilized as an identification key for these species, and they can be used as baseline data for studying the phyletic relationships of bats.

  • The genetic relationship was examined with PCR-RAPD markers among three scallop species, Chlamys farreri farreri, Patinopecten yessoensis, and Agropecten irradians. Six primers were selected from 60 primers used to compare PCR-RAPD profiles among species. All primers showed distinct RAPD band patterns between the three species. In Chiamys farreri farreri, the morphological characteristics such as shell size and color were considerably different between the two geographical populations. RAPD profile, however, showed that no significant genetic differences were found between the two geographical populations. Polymorphic alleles were observed within a population of each species. Thus, PCR-RAPD markers are useful in identifying scallop species and in understanding scallop population genetic structure.

영국 공공부문 노사관계의 특징 : 지방정부 사례

  • 영국지방정부 노사관계는 중앙집권적인 구도 속에도 개별 지방정부 차원에서의 자율이 허용되는 일종의 조정된 분권화의 모습을 보였다. 하지만 1980년대부터의 시장메커니즘의 도입 이후 일부 지방정부는 중앙의 현실인식부족을 강조하면서 중앙차원의 교섭구도에서 탈피하게 된다. 1997년의 교섭구도의 통합화 이후 보다 조정된 형태로의 변화를 기대했으나, 지부차원에서의 교섭자율화는 그대로 유지되었다. 하지만 중앙교섭의 영향력은 여전히 건재하며 이러한 측면에서 우리는 일종의 중앙과 지방의 상호결합이 나타나고 있다고 정의할 수 있다. 그동안 축적된 조직력과 경험이 이를 가능하게 했다고 보여진다. 또 다른 변화는 노사 파트너십의 도입인데 노동조합도 자신들의 입지 약화를 인정하면서 이러한 변화에 대해 긍정적인 입장이고, 더 이상 과거와 같은 대립적인 관계는 자신들에게 유리할 것이 없다는 인식이 확산되는 상황에서 점차적으로 파트너십의 관행이 영국 내 자리 잡을 것으로 기대된다. 여전히 중앙의 영향력이 있기는 하지만 분권화와 같은 변화는 현장 차원에서의 파트너십을 용이하게 할 수 있는 제도이기 때문이다. 결국 지방정부의 노사관계는 기존의 고도의 현대화의 하나인 제도적인 형태에서 철저한 성과압력 및 하위단계로의 권한 위임 등을 동반한 고도의 온정적인 모습 그리고 고도의 현대화의 또 다른 형태이자 보다 유연한 모습인 협의에 근거한 일종의 파트너십 등이 동시에 사용되어지는 다양하고 복잡한 모습으로 변해가고 있다고 정의할 수 있다.
