  • In This study investigated the effects of various intensity cycling exercise on body composition, blood lipids and fat metabolism in obese middle-aged women. 17 people obesity middle - aged women aged 35 to 55 years were divided into 3 groups: 5 people in the low intensity group, 6 people in the medium intensity group, and 6 people in the high intensity group. The object of this study was to compare the effect of cycle exercise performed between 20 ~ 50 minutes per a day,1 3 day times per week on the body composition, lipid profile and lipid metabolism of obesity middle - aged women. There was not substantial difference in body construction between groups. in blood lipid changes, there was a substantial difference in glucose between groups, There was not substantial difference between groups in the change of fat metabolism. In addition, there was not substantial difference in the interaction effect between time and time × group. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as basic data for related field.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of floor exercise on senior fitness test, blood lipids and arterial stiffness in elderly women with metabolic syndrome. Forty one elderly women with metabolic syndrome were randomly assigned to a exercsie group(n=23) or control goup(n=18). The exercise group performed floor exercise for 12 weeks, 3times per week. Exercise intensity was increased gradually from 30%-60% of heart rate reserve. Senior fitness, blood lipids profile and arterial stiffness were measured pre and post the 12 weeks intervention. Senior fitness(lower body strength, upper body strength, flexibility, aerobic capacity and body composition(%fat, LBM, WC)), Blood lipids(TC, TG, HDL-C and LDL-C) and Arterial stiffness(PWV) were significantly improved in the exercise group after floor exercise, however no changes were confirmed in the control group. These findings indicates that 12 weeks of floor exercise improves senior fitness, blood lipids and arterial stiffness in elderly women with metabolic syndrome. Thus, this study provides evidence that floor exercise is important methods to improve metabolic syndrome health. And it can reduce metabolic syndrome symptoms risk in elderly women with metabolic syndrome.

  • This study aims to examine the relationship between serum folic acid levels and metabolic syndrome. The analysis data were downloaded and used for the 7th 3rd (2018) data of the National Health and Nutrition Survey and in this study, 495 men, 706 women, and a total of 1,201 people were finally analyzed. The data analysis used Chi-square and t-test for the difference in serum folic acid according to general characteristics, Pearson correlation for the relationship between sub-factors of metabolic syndrome, and logistic regression analysis for serum folic acid levels and metabolic syndrome indicators. According to the results of this study, there was a significant negative correlation between serum folic acid levels and waist circumference (r=-0.113, p<0.01), triglyceride (r=-0.086, p<0.05), and HDL-cholesterol (r=0.086, p<0.05) showed a significant positive correlation. As a result of regression analysis, in the case of HDL-cholesterol, the group with normal serum folic acid levels was significantly higher than the group with low (p<0.05). Therefore, through this study, it is proposed to develop appropriate eating habits and health education programs to prevent metabolic syndrome.

  • The effects of Bulnesia sarmienti water extract on lipid metabolism were investigated in type-1 diabetes rats. The rats were fed a basal diet and B. sarmienti water extract for 8 weeks. The rats were randomly assigned to each treatment group: normal, control, three kinds of treatment group (BWO: 0.45 mg/ml, BW1: 0.9 mg/ml, BW2: 1.8 mg/ml). After 8 weeks of experimental diets consumption, the body weights and food efficiency ratio of B. sarmienti water extract fed groups were not change with those in the control group. The concentration in plasma total-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride were significantly decrease in the B. sarmienti water extract groups compared with those in the control group. Although it was not possible to observe blood glucose control effects of eight weeks of B. sarmienti water extract feeds in type-1 diabetes model, it was discovered that the feeds are highly effective in lowering the levels of blood lipid substances triglycerides, total-cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol.
