본지는 최근 돼지 오제스키병의 발생으로 인하여 양돈농가들이 종돈구입에 많은 애로를 느끼고 있는 점을 감안하여, '87년의 돼지 오제스키병 혈청검사 결과 이상이 없었던 농장 명단을 긴급 입수하여 게재한다. 안양가축위생연구소가 밝힌 자료에 따르면, 정부는 '87년중 총 363개 농장에서 10,805두의 돼지 혈청검사를 실시했으나, 검사두수가 적어 농장을 대표할 만한 통계자료로서의 가치가 미약한 것은 일단 제외하고 173개 농장의 4,980두의 검사 결과를 1차 게재함을 밝혔다. 아무쪼록 이 자료를 통해 종돈유통의 원활화와 일부 양돈업계에 나돌고 있는 오제스키병에 관한 유언비어가 걷히길 기대한다. 본지는 앞으로 계쏙 농장별 혈청검사 결과를 실은 계획임을 알린다

Polyhedral proteins and the endogenous alkaline protease associated with larval-derived polyhedra of nuclear viruses isolated from Spodoptera litura, Bombyx mori, and Hyphantria cunea were investigated. Polyhedral proteins prepared under alkaline protease heat-inactivated condition were separated as one band with 31Kd in S. litura a H. cunea NpV and 30Kd in B. mori NPV by the SDS-polyacrylamide gel electroptoresis. Whereas polyhedral proteins without heat-inactivation were degraded into smaller polypeptides with a certain pattern in alkaline solution. The results of double-immunodiffusion and western blot analysis with antisera against polyhedral proteins indicated that those three polyhedral proteins had common antigenic determinants and the degradation of polyhedral proteins by alkaline protease could be confirmed.

Lee, Je-ma proposed ways like Chehyungkisang to judge each constitution, so, on the basis of this, we can judge constitution in various ways. Such a theory is based on behavior determinism's way of thinking of Lee, Je-ma. We can know this that form is not recognized as an object reflecting image, but a subjective concept from Tukyonyodun, Yimokbiku(ears, eyes, nose and mouth), Hameokjebok of Sungmyong Theory. Lee, Je-ma thought each part of human body has not only physical function but also complex temperative function. Putting this consideration and Jangbu Theory describing human body directly, together, it can be said that these all have an established theory on Chehyungkisang of constitution judgement. Thus, the following hypotheses are given. From Sadan Theory and Hwakchung Theory, strength of Jangbu of Sasangin is Pe>Bi>Shin>Kan in Taeyangin and Bi>Pe>Kan>Shin in Soyangin and Kan>Shin>Bi>Pe> in Taeumin and Shin>Kan>Pe>Bi in Soumin. The concept of Shinkihyuljung is related with creation of form and spirit of each Jangkuk and Aenoheerak(sorrow, anger, joy, pleasure). From this viewpoint, Sasangin can be classified into; Taeyangin into Shinkijunghyul type, Taeumin into Hyuljungkishin type, Soumin into Junghyuishinki type. Introduced a fixed way to explain of each constitution according to this strength relationship. I hope more lively discussions on Constitutional Medicine will be continued based on this attempt.

저(低)Ca혈증(血症)의 주징(主徵)인 기립불능(起立不能)의 발현원인(發現原因)의 추구를 위해 실험적(實驗的) 저(低) Ca혈증(血症)에서 기립불능(起立不能) 나아가 심장운동정지(心臟運動停止)에 이르기까지의 과정을 근전도학적(筋電圖學的)으로 실시한 결과의 내용을 요약하면 다음과 같다. EDTA 주입전(注入前)의 정상기립시(正常起立時)에는 항중력근(抗重力筋)에만 tonic discharge가 얻어졌으나 혈정(血中) Ca 농도(濃度)의 저하정도에 따라 근방전(筋放電)이 달라져 6mg/100ml 전후에서 항중력근(抗重力筋) 및 그의 길항근(拮抗筋)에도 phasic discharge를 수반한 tonic discharge가 동기적(同期的)으로 나타나 이의 현상은 후구탈력(後軀脫力)에 의해 주저앉을 때에도 마찬가지였다. 기립불능(起立不能)의 상태에선 clonic convulsion양(樣)의 근방전(筋放電)이 폐사시까지 계속되었다. 경막외마취(硬膜外痲醉)에 의한 근전도(筋電圖)에선 근방전(筋放電)은 항시 상반적(相反的)이었고 후구마비(後軀痲痺)에 의한 횡와위(橫臥位) 상태에선 어떤 근방전(筋放電)도 얻어지지 않아 EDTA 주입(注入)에 의한 저(低) Ca혈증시(血症時)와 경막외마취시(硬膜外痲醉時)의 기립불능(起立不能)의 본질(本質)은 상위(相違)한 것으로 판명되었다. 또한 저(低)Ca혈증시(血症時)에 수반되는 각종 반사 및 임상증상의 추이(推移)로 저(低)Ca혈증시(血症時)에 수반되는 기립불능은 말초신경계 및 신경일근접합부(神經一筋接合部) 및 근(筋) 자체의 기능저하보다는 중추신경계의 기능저하에 의한 가능성을 크게 시사하는 것으로 보아진다.

Experiments were performed to study the activity and fertility of grey mullet (Mugil cephalus) sperm after the courses of cold storage and cryopreservation. The head of spermatozoon showing spherical shape was sized $1.26{\pm}0.08 \{mu}textrm{m}$ in diameter and its nucleus contained numerous granular chromatins. Flagellum of tail showed typical 9＋2 structure. Preservation of grey mullet sperm was the most effective when it was stored with serum of the same species at $0^{\circ}C$ and sperm activity index was similar in egg-tris, 0.1 M, 0.3 M and 0.5 M glucose. When grey mullet sperm were cryopreserved in MFRS as diluent with 10% dimethyl sulfoxide was effective compared with other diluents. Some of post-thawed spermatozoa showed the enlarged head and ruptured plasma membrane compared with unfrozen spermatozoa.

A 6-year-old, spayed female Cocker Spaniel was presented with generalized seborrhea sicca. Initially gallbladder mucocele (GM) was suggested by high liver enzyme activities and a stellate pattern in ultrasonography. There were no responses during 16 months of medical treatments for GM. Hormonal assay and histopathological findings were consistent with a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine therapy led to rapid resolution of dermatologic, serum chemical and ultrasonographic abnormalities. This report describes serial changes of skin lesions, serum chemistry and ultrasonography in a dog with concurrent GM and hypothyroidism following treatment of hypothyroidism.

Saponins, the major component of ginseng root, mediate the pharmacological action of the ginseng. It has been reported that ginseng roots have protective effect against various toxins. In this study, the effects of ginseng total saponin (GTS) on tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-$\alpha$) production induced by bacterial toxin was investigated. TNF-$\alpha$ level in lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-activated serum was remarkably reduced by intraperitoneal administration (50 mg/kg)of ginseng total saponin (GTS) into mice. The inhibitory effect against TNF-$\alpha$ production was not significant when GTS was given after the LPS injection, and by oral administration. These results suggested that ginseng root may have protective activity against liver damage accompanying the overproduction of TNF-$\alpha$ and GTS is the active component of ginseng.

Orchids have been propagated vegetatively for a long time without adequate control measures against virus diseases in Korea. As a result, it is presumed that most of the orchid varieties in Korea may have been degenerated. Nevertheless there has been little work on the virus diseases of orchids in Korea. Therefore studies were initiated to isolate an4 characterize the orchid viruses occurring in Korea. The results obtained are summerized as follows. 1. Symptoms of virus diseases on orchid varieties can be grouped 1) mosaic, 2) necrotic streak with mosaic, 3) ring necrosis, 4) chlorotkc ring and 5) necrotic spot. 2. A total of 102 orchid plants representing 4 genera were investigated on the occurrence of Cymbidium mosaic virus and tobacco mosaic virus by serological agar-gel double diffusion test. The test revealed that approximately $45\%$ of the orchids were infected with Cymbidium mosaic virus. None of the plants were found to be infected with tobacco mosaic virus. 3. Local lesions appeared on the inoculated leaves of Chenopodium amaranticolor Cassia occidentalis and Datura stramonium 7-12 days after mechanical inoculation with Cymbidium mosaic virus. 4. Physical properties of the Cymbidium mosaic virus determined by inoculation on Chenopodium amaranticolor were as follows: Thermal inactivation Point; $75-80^{\circ}C$, dilution end Point; $10^{-5}-10^{-6}\%$ aging in vitro; 8 days. 5. Three different buffers at pH 7.0 and pH 9.0 were compared for the efficiency of agar-gel double diffusion test with Cymbidium mosaic virus. Phosphate, imidazol and tris buffer at pH 7.0 gave equally satisfactory results. 6. Electron microscopic examination of the Cymbidium mosaic virus revealed rod shaped particles measuring 460-580mu.

Plasma $dopamine-{\beta}-hydroxylase(DBH)$ activity was measured in 37 autistic disorders, 26 atypical pervasive developmental disorders and 23 controls, to elucidate the biological etiology in pervasive developmental disorders. The results are summarized as follows : 1) In the autistic group, the mean plasma DBH activity was significantly elevated compared to the atypical and control groups. The mean plasma DBH activity was also significantly elevated in pervasive developmental disorders(autistic disorder+atypical developmental disorder) compared to control group. 2) In the atypical and control groups, the DBH activity significantly increased with age, but in the autistic group, the DBH activity was not significantly correlated with age. 3) No significant correlation was found between the DBH activity and the severity of psychopathology. These findings support the hypothesis of a possible involvement of brain catecholamine dysfunction in the production of autistic symptoms, and this dysfunction might be due to the abnormal ontogenetic process of DBH activity in autistic disorders.

This study was designed to evaluate lipid component of serum and organ in matured rats fed oil extract from ducks. Male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 595g(52-week-old) were divided into 3 groups and fed experimental diets for 8 weeks. Rats were fed soybean oil(control group) diet, duck oil(DO group) diet and duck oil supplemented with 1% cholesterol(DOC group) diet. Serum triglyceride concentration was significantly lower in DO and DOC groups than that in the control group. Serum total cholesterol concentration was significantly higher in DOC group than those in the other groups, while serum HDL-cholesterol concentration was significantly lower in DOC group than those in the other groups. Hepatic total lipid, triglyceride and total cholesterol concentrations in DOC group were significantly higher than those in the other groups. These studies indicate that the duck oil decreases the concentrations of triglyceride and shows almost same concentrations of total cholesterol compared to the soybean oil supplemented group in serum and liver. But hypercholesterolemic effect of duck oil was not improved.
