Stomach Cancer Secondary to Hematologic Diseases (혈액질환에 속발하는 이차성 위암)

  • Purpose: Patients with hematologic diseases such as chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL) are known to have an increased chance of acquiring a secondary neoplasm. Stomach cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases in Korea, and we investigated whether the incidence of secondary stomach cancer in patients with a hematologic disease increases, in order to determine if a more intensive screening program for detecting secondary gastric cancer was required. We also investigated the safety of performing a gastrectomy in hematologic disease patients. Materials and Methods: From 1992 to 2006, the medical records of 8376 patients diagnosed with one of the six common hematologic diseases were reviewed. Results: Nine secondary stomach cancers were found among the 8376 patients during the 15-year observation period. No surgical-related complications occurred, and there was no recurrence of stomach cancer if detected early. Conclusion: It seems that a more intensive screening program for detecting secondary gastric cancer in hematologic disease patients is not required, and surgery is not risky in these patients.

  • The current population of elderly is increasing and the with an extended average lifespan, the frequency of cancerous occurrences have also increased, with these increases and the increase in radiotherapy for cancer patients, recognitions of harm and importance have become known. This article was known tumor treatment of patients with hematopoietic disorder by doing a comparative study on the changes in blood cells caused by the acute effects of trace dose to high dose of radiation exposed to mice. According to the sensitizer injection may give rise to harm to the components of peripheral blood. This material needs to be considered when for treating tumor patients and the risks of hematopoietic harm and believe that radiation therapy will be reasonable.

Relationship Between Spiritual Health and Depression of Patients with Hematologic Malignancy (혈액 암 환자의 영적건강과 우울의 관계연구)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify the relationship between spiritual health and depression with the hematological malignancies patients in an isolated room. Method: The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS Win 12.0. For the statistical anayses, Pearson correlation coefficients, multiple linear regression analysis, t-test and ANOVA were calculated. Results: The mean scores of the status of spiritual health, depression were 111.62 and 29.78, respectively. The score of spiritual health was significant differences by the faith (F=19.65, p=0.000). Depression score was significant differences by age (F=4.561, p=0.002) and spiritual state (F=4.843, p=0.004). Spiritual health and depression was moderately correlated (r=-.681, p=.000). Conclusion: From the above results, oncology nurse should consider spiritual health and depression when caring patients with hematological malignancies.

  • 한국산 동백나무겨우살이(Pseudixus japonicus) 추출물의 암치료를 위한 생약으로서 활성 유효성을 검증하기 위하여 메탄올, 석유에테르, 클로로포름, 초산 에틸 용매로 순차적으로 추출하여 겨우살이 추출물의 다섯 가지 분획을 얻어, 이에 대하여 in vitro로 1차와 2차 검색 시스템을 사용해 항암활성 성분을 체계적으로 검색하였다. 다섯 가지 분획 중 클로로포름 가용성 분획이 1차 검색 세포인 $P388D_1$에 대해 가장 높은 항암활성을 나타내어 MSB1, NIH/3T3, SNU-1, SNU-C2A 등 2차 검색 시스템에 대해 클로로포름 가용성 분획의 항암활성을 다양한 농도하에서 비교 검색하였다. 혈액암 세포중 특히 $P388D_1$의 생장이 클로로포름 추출물에 의해 강하게 저해되었으며, 형질전환된 생쥐의 태아 섬유아세포와 사람의 대장암, 위암세포들도 어느 정도의 생육저해를 나타내었다. 이 클로로포름 가용성 분획의 주성분은 원소분석, 발색시약과의 반응, IR, GC-MS, $^{13}C$-NMR의 스펙트럼의 결과로 세 종류의 알칼로이드 화합물로 확인되었고, 부성분으로는 지방산 메틸 에스테르와 프탈라이드 화합물이 MS 스펙트럼을 통해 동정되었다.

  • In this paper, basic study of diagnostic device development for early detection of cancer, we present the optical property measurements of 12 histologically classified biological tissue and blood specimens in order to determine whether significant optical contrast exists for detection of disease(cancer). In vitro, optical properties of each 630nm, 660nm, 780n, 880nm and 940nm shows consistent changes in effective absorbtion coefficients, ${\mu}$$\_$${\alpha}$/ with tissue classification of pig an chicken and human blood according to the 27.3%, 35.4%, 45.6% and 59.1% of HCT. We found differences in optical properties at each of specific wavelengths and histologically classified biological tissue.

  • Objective: A case report on the improvement of patients with hematologic malignancies by Ortho-Cellular Nutrition Therapy (OCNT). Methods: A 69-year-old Korean female diagnosed with Stage 4 ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC Leukemia (ALL) had a very low platelet count of 8000/µl. Results: The platelet count improved to its normal level after Ortho-Cellular Nutrition Therapy (OCNT). Conclusion: Ortho-Cellular Nutrition Therapy (OCNT) is effective in relieving the symptoms of acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients with thrombocytopenia.

The Radiation Effect on Peripheral Blood Cell (방사선치료에 따른 합환자의 말초 혈액상의 변화)

  • To evaluate radiation effect on the hematopoietic system, we analyzed 44 patients who were treated with conventionally fractionated radiation therapy (RT) at Chonbuk National University Hospital. According to the treatment sites, we classified them into three groups: group I as head and neck, group II as thorax, and group III as pelvis. White blood cell, lymphocyte, platelet and hemoglobin were checked before and during RT The results were as follows; 1. White blood cell (WBC) and lymphocyte count were declined from the first week of RT to the third week, and then slightly recovered after the third or fourth week. There was prominent decrease in lymphocyte counts than WBC. 2. Platelet counts were declined until the second week of the RT, showed slight recovery at fourth week in all groups. Hemoglobin values were slightly decreased in the first week and then recovered the level of pretreatment value, gradually. 3. Lymphocyte count were declined significantly on group III(p<0.05), WBC and platelet counts were decreased on group II but statistically not significant.

  • 차세대염기서열분석법(NGS, Next Generation Sequencing) 기술은 하나의 유전체를 무수히 많은 조각으로 분해하여 각 조각을 동시에 읽어낸 뒤, 전산기술을 이용하여 조합함으로써 방대한 유전체 정보를 빠르게 해독하는 방법이다. 한편, 액체 생검(LB, liquid biopsy)이란 암세포가 깨지면서 생기는 미량의 DNA 조각을 말초혈액 속에서 찾아내 암을 진단하는 기술로 조직 생검(tissue biopsy)에 비해 비침습적이다. 본 논문은 NGS와 LB 기술을 접목했을 때 확진이 가능하고 예후 및 치료경과의 예측이 가능함을 제언하였다.

Effects of Oral Care Protocol on Oral Mucositis in Hematologic Malignancy Patients Receiving Chemotherapy (구강관리 프로토콜 적용이 항암화학요법을 받는 혈액암 환자의 구내염에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify effects of oral care protocol on oral mucositis and oral care performance in hematologic malignancy patients receiving chemotherapy. Methods: The design of this study was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Both groups were patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies who were receiving chemotherapy-each group had 20 patients. In the experimental group, patients were given intensive education on oral care based on the oral care protocol, whereas in the controlled group, each patient was given an educational brochure. Before chemotherapy, and 3 days, 7 days, and 14 days after chemotherapy, oral mucositis status of two groups were assessed using the guide to physical assessment of the oral cavity. Oral care performance was examined before chemotherapy and 14 days later. Results: The experimental group with the oral care protocol showed a significant difference (F=18.15, p<.001) in the oral mucositis status, and also in oral care performance (t=-10.33, p<.001). Conclusion: Findings indicate that the application of the oral care protocol is an effective tool for lowering the occurrence of oral mucositis and enhancing oral care performance in hematologic malignancy patients receiving chemotherapy.
