  • Objectives : The multimodal telepresence systems have been adopted in a variety of applications, such as telemedicine, space or underwater teleoperation and videoconference. Multimedia, one of the telepresence systems, has been used in various fields including entertainment, education and communication. The degree of subjective telepresence is defined as the probability that a person perceives to be physically in the remote place when he/she experiences a multisensory feedback from the multimedia. The current study aimed to explore the neural mechanism of telepresence related to multisensory feedback in patients with schizophrenia. Methods : Brain activity was measured using functional magnetic resonance imaging while fifteen healthy controls and fifteen patients with schizophrenia were experiencing filmed referential conversation at various distances (1 m, 5 m and 10 m). Correlations between the image contrast values and the telepresence scores were analyzed. Results : Subjective telepresence was not significantly different between the two groups. Some significant correlations of brain activities with the telepresence scores were found in the left postcentral gyrus, bilateral inferior frontal gyri, right fusiform gyrus, and left superior temporal sulcus. There were no main effects of group and distance. Conclusion : These results suggest that patients with schizophrenia experience telepresence as appropriately as healthy people do when exposed to multimedia. Therefore, patients with schizophrenia would have no difficulty in immersing themselves in multimedia which may be used in clinical training therapies.

  • Virtual reality, which is attracting attention due to the 4th Industrial Revolution and commercialization of 5G technology, is expanding its scope from gaming to tourism, leisure, and education, and the VR market is expected to expand continuously. As the VR market scales up in Korea, theme parks combining virtual reality contents are spreading around the city center. Unlike the existing theme parks, VR Theme Park is a small amusement culture space that is organized indoors, and you can enjoy attractions (ride) that can be enjoyed in an amusement park with virtual reality contents. Virtual reality content, which has the same characteristics as a theme park whose purpose is to experience extraordinary experiences, provides high immersion and presence in combination with the physical stimulus of attraction. The virtual reality content combined with the attraction cannot be classified accurately with the existing classification method, so a new classification method is proposed according to the experience type and the installation type. The contents were categorized through the case of the domestic VR theme park, and the planning direction for the creation of the virtual reality attraction contents that was going on was sought.

  • Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment Industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea. The popularity of online games can be attributed to the availability of broadband network and the presence of numerous PC Bangs and around the country, which have pushed online games Into the main-stream entertainment culture. The age distribution of online game players is expanding and a variety of new games are under development to target certain age groups. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering the market, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions to play continuously in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from in vestigating the relationships among the players' loyalty, interactivity, the sense of presence and the impacts of several other key game-related constructs. Several types of interaction in on-line games and their relationship with the flow construct are investigated, and the resulting conceptual model is proposed. Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the validity of the simultaneous equation model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between the players' loyalty to the sense of presence, flow, satisfaction and interactions. Other interesting results concerning game development strategy are also provided.

  • In this paper, we will discuss planning and production of VR contents for effective racing drone steering training. In the real world, direct racing drone training training is obviously a space and economic limit. We propose through the production of VR-based drone infiltration action game as a solution to these limitations and try to improve effective drone handling ability. Especially, we designed the virtual reality contents in a similar environment by using the similarity of FPV goggles and HMD based VR, and designed virtual drones, maps and obstacles considering the characteristics of the structures used in racing drone and drone racing. Also, we tried to increase the user's immersion and presence by increasing difficulty level of obstacles.
