Automatic Evaluation of Elementary School English Writing Based on Recurrent Neural Network Language Model (순환 신경망 기반 언어 모델을 활용한 초등 영어 글쓰기 자동 평가)

  • We often use spellcheckers in order to correct the syntactic errors in our documents. However, these computer programs are not enough for elementary school students, because their sentences are not smooth even after correcting the syntactic errors in many cases. In this paper, we introduce an automated method for evaluating the smoothness of two synonymous sentences. This method uses a recurrent neural network to solve the problem of long-term dependencies and exploits subwords to cope with the rare word problem. We trained the recurrent neural network language model based on a monolingual corpus of about two million English sentences. In our experiments, the trained model successfully selected the more smooth sentences for all of nine types of test set. We expect that our approach will help in elementary school writing after being implemented as an application for smart devices.

Comparison of Computational Thinking Improvement Based on Teaching Aids and Student's Level in Elementary Software Education (초등학교 소프트웨어교육에서 교구와 학습자 수준에 따른 컴퓨팅사고력 향상도 비교)

  • As the importance of software education is emphasized, various educations for improve the computational thinking of elementary school students are being provided. However, there are many limitations that apply to the school at preceding studies. because they were invented for specific environment or students. Therefore, in this study, software education was conducted by constructing teaching-learning activities in consideration of the characteristics of students such as teaching aids and level of computational thinking ability, which can influence students based on the contents of textbooks. Through the comparison about computational thinking improvements, this study tried to suggest the direction of effective software education method. As a result, there are differences in computational thinking improvements according to the student's level and used teaching aids. Specifically, visual programming and unplugged type teaching-learning activities were more effective in teaching aids, and according to the level of students, students with low level of computing thinking in pre-inspection showed relatively high improvement. This tendency suggests that it is necessary to consider various learning factors in designing teaching-learning activities in elementary software education.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program, based on the family life education theory and the needs of the adolescents, for the improvement of the relationship between adolescents and their parents. Aimed to be applicable in the actual school environment, the program was practiced and successfully proved its effectiveness. Named 'Parents and I : Is It Good This Way? Over the Generation Gap', the program is composed of themes such as 'Understanding the importance of the parent-child relationship', 'Understanding parents', and 'Having friendly communication with parents', and was practiced five times, once every week, at H girls' high school located in Seoul. An evaluation was done on adolescents to see the effectiveness of the parent-child relationship improvement program: there was a meaningful distinction between the results of the pre-test and the post-test. The participants responded that they could have a chance to understand their mid-aged parents and to express their feelings and thoughts, and evaluated that the anger-control program was a training for them to express their emotions in a rational way.

  • Recently, ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) equipments that exceed 50 watts were expended at home, medical institutions and industrial sites. Therefore, the equipments that are subject to permission have been significantly increased. So, the present permission system that individually permits each equipment and inspects all equipments has a limitation. Thus, it is also difficult to reflect the environmental changes. In this paper, we reviewed the ISM management system in major foreign countries and domestic, and then proposed an improvement scheme of ISM management system for domestic environment. These results will be useful for revitalization of domestic industry related to ISM equipment and an efficient management of ISM equipments in the future.

  • This research is to observe the misbehavior of child, and identify relevance maternal propensity for perfection - one of parents factors that affect the misbehavior of child - to the misbehavior of child. The objects of this study 274 children of 3-5 years who were attending nursery schools and kindergartens in Gyeonggi province and Busan City as well as their mothers of the same number. The result of the research provides the fundamental data about the mother and child relationship with the parent's factor which gives an effect to child's misbehavior and reveals mother's psychological nature of the functional parts of a perfectionism and the disfunction as part of this.

On Algorithm Learning Using Graph Coloring Problem for Elementary Students (그래프 컬러링 문제를 활용한 초등학생을 위한 알고리즘 학습)

  • The paper shows that algorithm education positively affects algorithmic thinking for elementary students. Experiments are conducted on thirty five sixth graders without prior experience of algorithm. The experimental group is given eleven sessions of lesson for four weeks in which algorithmic solution is sought for graph coloring problems. After four weeks of experiments questionnaires are distributed to the students in order to measure differences in algorithmic interest and algorithmic thinking ability. The following results are obtained: Firstly, it may be observed that algorithm education with graph coloring may be effective in reinforcing students' interest in algorithms. Secondly, the experiment shows that algorithmic thinking ability may be enhanced from participating in graph coloring activities. In conclusion, algorithm education with graph coloring problem helps students develop algorithmic thinking ability as well as cultivate students' interest in algorithmic thinking.

Utilization of Domestic Natual Quartz as Elecrtic Resonators; Feasibility Study (한국산 천연수품을 이용한 수품공진자의 생산가능성에 관한 연구)

  • 한국산 천연수정은 보석장식용으로서는 그 품질이 이미 알려져 있으나 수정진동자로서의 특성에 관해서는 아직 보고된 바가 없다. 본 연구는 특히 경상도일대에서 채굴되고 있는 천연수정을 채집, 선별, 가공하여 그 수정진동자로서의 사용가능성을 실험을 통하여 검토한 것이다. 필자들은 채굴현장 근처에서 채집한 원석을 특별히 고안제작된 검사경을 이용하여 분석선별하였으며 X-ray를 사용하여 AT-cut로 orientation 한후 시판을 절단하였다. 다음 적용하여 전기적, 광학적 쌍수상태를 검토하고 다시 선별하였다 Dimensioning은 5MHz를 목표로 하였는데 연잠제를 사용하여 5MHz의 조도까지 연마하고 전극으로서 표준형의 은막을 부착하여 시판을 완성하였다. 시판을 대한 측정결과는 모든 등가정수가 대표적인 수입수정판의 것과 대등하였으며 특히 Q는 모두 105를 넘었다. 온도특성도 AT-cut의 이론치와 대차가 없었으며 -20℃-+100℃ 범위에서 최대 20PPM 이내의 편차를 보였다. 즉, 한국산 천연수정은 적절히 선별, 가공 한다면 부유한 수정진동자의 원재로서 사용할수 있음이 증명되었다. Samples of domestic natural quartz were collected and screened optically and chemically, and, after weeding out portions unfit for electrical resonator, were cut into AT-cut wafers, which in turn were dimensioned, trimmed and lapped into 5MHz resonator units. The results of measurements obtained from the specimens indicated excellent electrical characteristics of domestic natural quartz with the average Q quotient of 10s or higher. Temperature characteristics also showed typical AT-cut corves with the frequency deviation of 20PPM at maximum throughout the range of -20 to 100℃. The experiment on the initial batch of samples amply indicates the excellent electrical quality of domestic natural quartz as quartz resonator units.

An Implementation of the Career Management System Based on the Android Platform (안드로이드 플랫폼 기반의 경력관리시스템 구축)

  • In this paper, we propose a CMS(Career Management System) based on the Android Platform, which is able to manage the result of MBTI, an aptitude test and English skills such as TOEIC, conversation, writing, etc. and to deal with the performance of the on-the-job practice, internship, project participation, graduation exhibition, contest exhibition, etc. during the period of attendance at school, This system is divided into the server module and the client one. First, the server module is used to build up the web site of the CMS that can serve to save the data related to each student's career. Second, the client module is to develop the application based on the Android Platform. This application can easily access the career-related information and always function as maintaining and managing the new data. If we make good use of the CMS proposed in this study, the relevant departments and bureaus in colleges and universities can activate the service capacity and also enhance the employment competitiveness by adding value to the students.

Speech Stimuli on the Diagnostic Evaluation of Speech with Cleft Lip and Palate : Clinical Use and Literature Review (구개열 환자 말 평가 시 검사어에 대한 고찰 : 임상현장의 말 평가 어음자료와 문헌적 고찰을 중심으로)

  • Differential diagnosis of articulation and resonance problems in the cleft lip and palate speech is required for evaluating various factors contribute to speech problems such as VPI, dental occlusion, palatal fistulae, learning. However, validity of speech stimuli is current issue to evaluate accurately each problem in cleft speech. This study was conducted to investigate speech stimuli using in the clinical setting and review the literatures and articles published 1990 to 2005 for helping develop standardized speech samples. The results were recommendation to evaluate properly velopharyngeal function when conducting a diagnostic evaluation as follows : 1) In identification hypernasality, the speech stimuli should be included low pressure consonants to eliminate effects of nasal emission, compensatory articulation. 2) Speech stimuli should be consist of visual, front sounds to eliminate compensatory articulation and to stimulate easily. 3) Regarding early diagnosis and treatment, speech stimuli need to develop for infants and preschooler. 4) Stimulus length on nasalance scores should be at least 6 syllables. 5) In phonetic context on nasalance scores, /i/ vowel should be take into consideration excluding paragraph. 6) Connected speech stimuli should be developed for evaluating intelligibility and VP function.

Development and Validation of the Two Measures (power controllability, power desirability) for Identifying Power Relationships Among the School Youth (학교 내 청소년들의 권력관계 양상과 유형 파악을 위한 척도 개발 및 타당화 연구)

  • This study aimed at developing and validating two standardized measures, 'power controllability', and 'power desirability', which can be utilized to categorize power relationships among the school youth. In order to identify initial items for the measures researchers conducted individual as well as focus group interviews with middle and high school students. School teachers and other school related professionals involved in ensuring both the face validity and the content validity of the initial items. For the finally selected items both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses have been executed with the sample of 1,822 students attending elementary, middle, and high schools in the metropolitan area of Seoul, Korea. To test the validity of the confirmed factor structure of the measures the new sample of 348 middle school students were employed from the metropolitan area. Both construct validity and reliability were calculated from the validity test sample. Based on the two developed measures 4 types of power relationship were identified among the students. The four types of power relationship turned out to predict well the roles that students take in the field of school violence.
