  • A little understood but rapidly growing phenomenon in our society is remarriage. By 2002, 21% of marriage involved the remarriage of one or both partners. Furthermore, the ratio of remarriage of women has outnumbered the ratio of remarriage of men, which is remarkable change compared to the traditional culture putting a taboo on women's remarriage in Korea. The purpose of this study is to construct the perspective and the direction of programs for enhancing the remarriage family functioning. For the purpose, we explore the intrinsic vulnerability to family dissolution of remarriage and ill preparation for remarriage of people. There are unrealistic myths around, lack of informations on, absence of guideline for remarriage family life. Also, we discuss the process of remarriage family development, which leads us to the conclusion that the remarriage shows totally different family structure and family interaction from first marriage nuclear family. Based on discussion mentioned above, several suggestions are provided for developing programs for remarriage family functioning. Above all, the family developmental perspective on remarriage is more useful paradigm rather than deficit-comparison perspective for remarriage family. Also, the programs for remarriage family functioning should challenge the unrealistic myths around remarriage such as the instant love between step-parents and step-children, the re-created nuclear family, etc. Also, several points such as the remarried family developmental stage, the disparity in expectation of man and woman on remarriage, and the tendency to scapegoat a stepmother should be considered in programs for enhancing remarriage family functioning.

  • The moral corruption or the reality of absence of humanity derived from the development of science and society is very serious. Especially the moral education which should provide new breakthroughs facing such issue will be the initial concern in the educational world and the key point that judges our future. This study, as a part of efforts made for such demands of the times, is an attempt to approach the field of the present elementary education specifically by deducing the abundant meaning that the Confucianism's Chungseojidoh(忠恕之道: the principle of "Faithfulness" and "Benevolence") stands for. To build an ethical social community also means to draw voluntary moral practices into this society and this is possible with our (the moral subject) struggling the problems within but not remaining in the limitations of physical norms. Chungseojidoh as universal ethics contains a virtue ethical meaning as Jenlogy, a meaning of identity recognition and self-esteem inspiration, a meaning of social community ethics as ethics of good offices, etc. Such meanings, in particular, can be discussed more profoundly in terms of educational prevention from violence or cliquish issues in school that are largely related to education of humanity if 'applying schemes for elementary education' is seen as the center of the issue. And furthermore, they will be able to open a discussion over problems of the situation which the Korean society is in - especially the insistence, egoism or conflicts between social communities - can be answered in actuality.

  • This study attempted to find a Christian religious alternative to the seriousness of the problem of low birth rate which has become a national and social problem, and its alternative. Korea is a low birth rate country. The phenomenon of low birth rate and childbirth avoidance is a reality that not only are national problems but also Korean churches are experiencing serious problems, and will continue to affect them. It will affect the church in four major ways. First, is a sharp decline in the number of members. Second, is the decline of Sunday schools. Third, various family problems and generational conflicts will arise. And it brings problems such as a crisis of faith among members. Young people living today have an unconventional attitude toward marriage, childbirth, and parenting. But for Christians, childbirth is a way of living in that God blessed us to "be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth." In other words, childbirth must be recognized as a blessing from God, not a human decision. Therefore, we must know how precious the fetus is in front of God and that it is a precious life. Thus, we should be interested in how to nurture the life God has given. To do so the church's role is education is to shape the value of life from a biblical perspective. Therefore the church needs to see how the Christian faith of young and married couples who are about to marry, give birth, and raise children, affects the childbirth and rearing of children. And it is necessary to study what the role of church and Christian education is to solve the problem of low birth rate and to suggest alternatives. For this study, we will first identify the factors of low birth rate. Then we will confirm childbirth and the blessing of God through the Bible. Finally, the role of the church in low birth rate and educational alternatives will be presented.

  • In this paper, I review Pellegrino's Reader, The Philosophy of Medicine Reborn. Pellegrino has emphasized the humanities' reflection on the ethics of medicine. He insists that medical ethics should be re-established as modern society changes. This paper, based on Pellegrino's view, noted the problematic situation in literature and popular narrative texts. Indeed, I wanted to see what answer medical ethics could provide for us. Medical personnel had a philosophical dilemma or a conflict between reality and ethics. Pellegrino argues that medical personnel, above all, need to sympathize with the patient's pain and respond to their needs through interaction with them. This may seem like a very legitimate declaration. But a physician in literary texts and popular narrative texts is often exposed to this ethical dilemma. Through Lee Cheongjun's novel, we can reflect on how a medical personnel could lead a patient to a state of "goodness". And through medical dramas, we can grasp what ethical behaviors the public demands from a medical personnel. Now that the world is suffering from COVID-19, medical workers are in a great trouble, but at the same time, they are respected by the public and are also enhancing their value as ethical beings. Now that medical care has become an everyday narrative, medical ethics is becoming a prerequisite for living. This paper attempted to recognize the importance of medical ethics and to review the ethical issues embodied in medical narratives.

  • This study was written to examine the acceptance of pansori in movies based on pansori, and to explore changes in modern society's perception and expectations of pansori. A pansori is getting the love of the upper and lower castes in the late Joseon period, but loses the status at the time of the Japanese colonial rule and Korean War. In response, the country designated pansori as an important intangible cultural asset in 1964 to protect the disappearance of pansori. Until the 1980s, however, pansori did not gain popularity by itself. After the 2000s, Pansori tried to breathe in with the contemporary public due to the socio-cultural demand to globalize our culture. And now Pansori is one of the most popular cultures in the world today, as the pop band Feel the Rhythm of KOREA shows. The changing public perception of pansori and its status in modern society can also be seen in the mass media called movies. This study explored the process of this change with six films based on pansori, from "Seopyeonje" directed by Lim Kwon-taek in 1993 to the film "The Singer" in 2020. First, the films "Seopyeonje" and "Hwimori" were produced in the 1990s. Both of these films show the reality of pansori, which has fallen out of public interest due to the crisis of transmission in the early and mid-20th century. And in the midst of that, he captured the scene of a singer struggling fiercely for the artistic completion of Pansori itself. Next, look at the film "Lineage of the Voice" in 2008 and "DURESORI: The Voice of East" in 2012. These two films depict the growth of children who perform art, featuring contemporary children who play pansori and Korean traditional music. Pansori in these films is no longer an old piece of music, nor is it a sublime art that is completed in harsh training. It is only naturally treated as one of the contemporary arts. Finally, "The Sound of a Flower" in 2015 and "The Singer" in 2020. The two films constructed a story from Pansori's history based on the time background of the film during the late Joseon Dynasty, when Pansori was loved the most by the people. This reflects the atmosphere of the times when traditions are used as the subject of cultural content, and shows the changed public perception of pansori and the status of pansori.
