  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the factors influencing happiness between the baby boom generation and the elderly generation, and to clarify the difference in the factors affecting happiness in old age. Thus, using the data of the '2019 Seoul Survey Urban Policy Indicators Survey', a total of 15,451 people including 7,831 baby boomers (born 1955-1963) and 7,620 seniors (born before 1954) were sampled. Through regression analysis, we analyzed what factors affect happiness. As a result of the analysis, family relations were the most influential factor of happiness in both groups, but next, satisfaction through participation in leisure activities for baby boomers and economic support for elderly generations had a great influence on happiness. In addition, the degree of participation in SNS, which has no effect on the baby boom generation, is a significant factor influencing happiness for the elderly, showing that participation in the digital environment is important to the elderly. In the results of this study, it was suggested that the baby boom generation and the elderly generation are significantly different in terms of group characteristics, and therefore their social needs for the pursuit of happiness in their old age should be approached differently.

  • Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE), which is one of the construction environment evaluation methods, is a series of processes that ask about the functional requirements and satisfaction of an object from a life cycle perspective such as design/construction/residence. However, there are no POE research activities targeting large-scale units. On the other hand, large-scale third-phase new towns are being developed. Therefore, this study conducted a post-residence evaluation (POE) research activity in a large-scale unit (Multifunctional Administrative City). The procedure of this study is to conduct a literature survey on the current status and implications of the multi-functional administrative city area, and based on the research data, derive the Happy City evaluation index for the major issues and special issues of the Happy City. Afterwards, 450 questionnaires were conducted for the residents of Happy City, and POE analysis was performed on the derived data for each module. And based on the analysis results, implications such as problems and improvement points for the current status of the Happy City were derived. This can be used as a basis for the expansion of a large-scale new city into a self-sufficient city, and it can be used as a basic data for the development and improvement of a happy city that meets social needs in the future.

  • This study aims to verify the possibility of using the blog mining to collect public opinion in the field of housing policy, thus, it collected blog posts with the keyword 'Happy Housing', extracted the main keywords from them, and analyzed the public's perception through keyword and word cluster analysis. 137,002 blog posts were used as analysis data from May 2013, when social discussion about happy housing spread, to August 2021, and the words derived by dividing the period into three stages in consideration of major housing policies and data collection were analyzed. The results are as follows. In the keyword analysis, overall, the importance of words related to the location, the number, the size, and the conditions for occupancy of Happy Housing is high. In the first stage, government policy implementation, in the second stage, the application process for Happy Housing, and in the third stage, recruitment notices, occupancy qualifications, and rental conditions are found to be highly important. In cluster analysis, project progress, application process, and project area were drawn as main themes at all stages. In particular, policy implementation and implementation plan in the first stage, occupancy qualification and financial support in the second stage, and policy implementation and occupancy qualification in the third stage were drawn as main themes. These results present the possibility of the blog mining as a method of collecting public opinion by sharing policy-related information, reflecting social issues, evaluating whether policies are delivered, and inferring the public's participation in policies.

  • This study was conducted to derive a society and education system model that will improve the happiness and sustainability of human society. An ideological model for making human society a happy society was derived, and a society and education system structure and operation model based on this was presented. A fair society, a justice society, a mutually considerate society, and a society where individuals are happy are the conditions for a sustainable society. After analyzing the current situation of freedom and equality pursued by capitalism and democracy, which are currently adopted by most societies, an improvement model was derived from the perspective of a sustainable society. The cost of freedom and equality were analyzed and a new alternative system was discussed. The social solidarity and class mobility issues were discussed together and servicism was derived as an alternative solution. It is a system in which two opposing opponents of individual freedom and social norms form a symmetrical balance, and material and spiritual values are balanced. Servicism is a dynamic balance model. That is, the dimensions of time and space are involved. It is a model that maintains a thorough balance through a dialectical process as time and space change, and one value can dominate the other at a specific time or space. The service-oriented society and education system is a system that simultaneously pursues the goals of individual happiness and sustainable development of the social community.

  • It is well known that personality and situation which person possess have an impact on the relationships between stress coping and psychological wellbeing. Although most of studies on cultural self-construal have used the concept of individual/collectivism (independent/interdependent) scale, a part of research showed that it was not similar results when the concepts were used with Korean samples. We applied new scale, subjective-objective self, to our study. Two hundred eighty three participants (M = 21.66) participated in the present research. We found that persons with higher subjective self used more problem solving and seeking help, and less denial coping methods. Next, the higher subjective self influenced happiness and interpersonal relationship satisfaction. Finally, the coping methods of problem solving and seeking help influenced more happiness and interpersonal relationship satisfaction among people with higher objective self than did among people with higher subjective self. • Previous research have demonstrated that the external factors (ex., money, appearance) are more influential in Easterners' self-views and conditions for happiness than those of Westerners'. Based on these results, the current study examined whether 1) children and adolescents acquired these tendency as they grew up and 2) this tendency had relevance with social comparison. Total 954 students (260 elementary, 216 middle school, 260 high school and 218 college students) participated in the study. The results showed that elementary and middle school students regarded the internal factors (ex., thinking, feeling) as more important. But high school students considered the external factors as more important, and there was no difference in college students. Also, the results revealed that elementary and middle school students regarded the harmony of family and peace of mind as more important conditions for happiness. These results contrasted with preference for better educational backgrounds, better occupation, and money in high school and college students. In addition, age and social comparison tendency had positive relation with external self-concepts and negative relation with self-esteem. Especially, high school students showed strongest external self-concepts and social comparison tendency among four age groups. They also showed strongest preference for external conditions for happiness, but their self-esteem was the lowest. This might reflect fierce competition for college education in Korea, and the results of the current study have demonstrated that adolescents developed a tendency to prefer external factors to internal factors as they grew up in a competitive environment.
