  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the lifestyle factors influencing behavioral problems such as Inattention, hyperactivity/impulsivity, and internet overuse in elementary and middle school students. Data from 889 elementary school students and 676 middle school students were used and teacher reporting on students' attention deficit and hyperactivity and impulsivity symptoms was also included in the analysis. Lifestyle included opportunities for family interaction, sleep, watching TV, playing Video games, eating breakfast, eating junk food, and private education. As a result of stepwise regression analysis, Video games, junk foods, and family interactions significantly predicted the inattention of elementary and middle school students. Video games, TV, junk foods, and family interactions significantly predicted elementary school students' hyperactivity and impulsivity, but the lifestyle variables hardly accounted for the hyperactivity/impulsivity of middle school students. Video game, and family interactions significantly predicted Internet overuse for both elementary and middle school students. Current study suggest that family interaction opportunities and the use of video games, TV and junk food should be considered to intervene in behavior problems.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between level of participation in children's play, empathy ability and coping behavior in mothers of children with disabilities. The study included 94 mothers of children with disabilities and the study was conducted from May 2018 to August 2018 based on the questionnaire about the level of participation in children's play, empathy ability and coping behavior. According to the study, Mothers of children with disabilities actively participate in physical play with their children and have a higher emotional empathy compared to cognitive empathy, and have acted to actively solve the problems for their children. When children have been treated for more than 1 to 2 years, the level of participation in children's play and the coping behavior were the highest. The longer their children's treatment period, the higher the mothers' empathy. The correlation between level of participation in children's play and coping behavior were significant. And empathy and coping behavior had a strong positive linear relationship. These results suggest that there are differences in level of participation in children's play, empathy and coping behavior depending on mothers' of children with disabilities general characteristics and the higher level of mothers' of children with disabilities participation in children's play, the more empathetic they have. When individualized intervention is provided, we look forward to providing professional service that take into account the characteristics of mothers of children with disabilities.

The study included 102 mothers of children with disabilities and the study was conducted from june to september in 2020 based on the questionnaire about the personality type and coping behavior. Personality types were evaluated using Enneagram, and coping behavior was evaluated using the Korean Coping Behavior Scale for Parents of Children and Adolescents with Disabilities As a result of the study, the belly type was the most common personality type of mothers with disabilities. As for coping behavior, active problem-solving for children with disabilities showed the highest score. As a result of analyzing the coping behavior according to the personality type of mothers of children with disabilities, there were significant differences in the coping behavior, strengthening marital cooperation, and pursuing social-emotional support. As a result of post-verification, there were significant differences between heart type and belly type in coping behavior, strengthening marital cooperation, and pursuing social-emotional support, and heart type scored higher than belly type. When conducting interventions for families of disabled children, it will be possible to provide more effective services by predicting coping behaviors according to the personality type of mothers of disabled children and presenting individualized programs.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the anxiety, sexual attitudes, and sexual behavior according to smartphone use and contacts with obscene materials. 110 university students surveyed demographic characteristics, smartphone use, contacts with obscene materials, anxiety, sexual attitudes, and sexual behavior, and analyzed 102 questionnaires except missing and incomplete responses. The collected data were analyzed by independent t-test or chi-square test. Men were significantly more likely to have contacts with obscene materials, sexual attitudes, and sexual behavior than the women (p<.05). In type of residence, boarding room or lodging was significantly higher at time of smartphone use, anxiety, and sexual behaviors than the home (p<.05). There was no difference in variables according to religion (p>.05). There was no difference in variables according to the level of academic achievement (p>.05). Time of smartphone use over 3 hours was significantly higher for contacts of obscene materials, anxiety, and sexual attitudes and behaviors than less 3 hours (p<.05). Higher levels of time of contacts with obscene materials were significantly higher in anxiety and sexual behaviors than lower level (p<.05). The results of this study can be used as a basis for the development of intervention programs for those who are experiencing excessive smartphone use and contacts with obscene materials.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore a risk and a protective factors of adolescent runaway based on the previous researches. Runaway of adolescents is increasing, and it is longer and more habit gradually than past. The prevailance methods of runaway is no longer effects on the decrease of adolescent runaway. Now there is to accept adolescent runaway, and has to support the difficult life conditions and the emotional distress of adolescent post-runaway. This means that must be identify and treatment the protective factors having an buffering effect as well as the risk factors influencing on runaway. Although the worse factors related family are the highest risk factors of runaway, others factors including negative peer relation, a academic stress also an have significant influence on runaway. And the protective factors mediating the negative influence of risk factors are an monitoring and controlling of parent as authoritative rearing attitude, a social support, a positive coping strategies, a self-esteem, and a conventional peer group. Protective factors prevent from runaway behavior, as well as improve a resilience of adolescents in the poor environment. The tasks of follow study are to investigate empirically the mediating effects of the protective factors on the problem behavior of post-runaway and resilience of runaway adolescents based on the systematic research design.

A questionnaire was administered to elementary school-aged children (grades 3-6). 266 children from divorced single parent families were surveyed. The major findings were as follows : first, self control had a moderating role to play in the relationship between stress and problem behaviors for girls. Second, social support also had a moderating effect in the relationship between stress and problem behaviors for boys. Third, the variables having a moderating effect in the relationship between stress and problem behaviors of children also differed according to gender. Therefore differences in gender should be considered when seeking moderating the relationship between stress and problem behaviors of children.

  • ADHD is a neuro-developmental disorder that begins in childhood, yet may continue into adulthood. Although 3 to 4 percent of adults are affected by ADHD, but only a small proportion of adults ever receive a formal diagnosis and treatment. The core symptoms of ADHD frequently lead to significant academic difficulties that often result in the students' teacher being the first to suspect the disorder. In order for school teachers to effectively deal with ADHD students in school classrooms, they need to have positive attitude toward ADHD students. This study presents a list of ADHD-related web sites which provide educational contents and support for school teachers, and provides the discussions about the current status and the roles of those web sites.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to review physiological mechanisms of internet addiction and to construct a theoretical framework for cognitive behavioral therapy for internet addicts. Methods: We searched for relevant literature in the PubMed and RISS databases using the terms "internet addiction", "internet game addiction", "internet abuser", and "online game". Only English, full-text articles published from 2000 to 2015 were included in this review of physiological indicators of internet addiction. Finally, 12 articles were selected for review. Results: The theoretical framework developed based on the review proposes that excessive internet use itself may induce physiological stress responses with an increase of stress-related hormones and neurotransmitters. Prolonged abnormal responses of these physiological features produce negative structural and functional changes in the prefrontal cortex, which is mainly involved in cognitive and executive functions. These changes may result in decreased cognitive function. As a stressor, excessive internet use leads to transforming voluntary use into involuntary, habitual use and thus promotes the development of internet addiction. Conclusion: The proposed theoretical framework encompasses cognitive processes that may contribute to the effects of internet use-induced physiological stress on internet addiction. We believe that this framework has important implications for developing cognitive behavioral strategies for internet addicts.
