  • Sounding data is the essential source for the safety of ships navigation system, and fundamental to the reasonable usage and maintenance of the ocean as well. As IT tech, positioning equipment such as GPS and INS, echo sounder are developed, recently, the precise submarine topography database bas been built by Multi-Beam Echo Sounder. However, MBES data includes some inevitable error caused by several factor, and some data have errors where the terrain is wobble. The error, which causes the $moir\acute{e}$ pattern error is the main factor hindering the accuracy of MBES data results, and therefore it is necessary to figure out the main cause of the error for the improvement of the accuracy by removing error data. On this research, the main cause of the error data is studied by analyzing motion sensor value of data including the $moir\acute{e}$ pattern error. Thus, as the result of examination, it turns out that the $moir\acute{e}$ pattern error is related to the standard deviation of Roll, and error data values are results of the non-correspondence between Swath data and Roll values caused by the drastic change of Roll values. Accordingly, the error data is removed by comparing between the gradient of Swath data and Roll values. Finally, as the result of removing error data, it is expected to be able to estimate the quality of MBES using the standard deviation of Motion sensor's Roll value, and calculate the additive error factor, which minimize non-corresponding data, and also this research must be contributed to improve the accuracy of sounding for small vessels with lots of motion in the bad circumstance for navigation.

  • Absorbed shortwave radiation at the surface is an important component of energy analysis among the atmosphere, land, and ocean. In this study, the absorbed shortwave radiation was calculated using a radiation model and surface broadband albedo data for application to Geostationary Earth Orbit Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite (GEO-KOMPSAT-2A; GK-2A). And the results (GWNU algorithm) were compared with CERES data and calculation results using pyranometer and MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) data to be selected as the reference absorbed shortwave radiation. This GWNU algorithm was also compared with the physical and statistical algorithms of GOSE-R ABI and two algorithms (Li et al., 1993; Kim and Jeong, 2016) using regression equation. As a result, the absorbed shortwave radiation calculated by GWNU algorithm was more accurate than the values calculated by the other algorithms. However, if the problem about computing time and accuracy of albedo data arise when absorbed shortwave radiation is calculated by GWNU algorithm, then the empirical algorithms explained above should be used with GWNU algorithm.

  • Jeollanam-do has 25 land-to-island and island-to-island bridges, the largest number in Korea. It is a local government rich in specialized marine and tourism resources centered on the archipelago and the sea bridges connecting them. However, in the case of sea-crossing bridges, when strong winds or typhoons occur, there is an issue that increases anxiety among users and local residents due to excessive vibration of the bridge, apart from structural safety of the bridge. In fact, in the case of Cheonsa Bridge in Shinan-gun, which was recently opened in 2019, vehicle traffic restrictions due to strong winds and excessive vibrations frequently occurred, resulting in complaints from local residents and drivers due to increased anxiety. Therefore, based on the data measured using IoT measurement technology, it is possible to relieve local residents' anxiety about the safety management of marine bridges by providing quantitative and accurate bridge vibration levels related to traffic and wind conditions of bridges in real time to local residents. This study uses the existing measurement system and IoT sensor to constantly observe the wind speed and vibration of the marine bridge, and transmits it to local residents and managers to relieve anxiety about the safety and traffic of the sea-crossing bridge, and strong winds and to develop technologies capable of preemptively responding to large-scale disasters.

  • Satellite-retrieved data on Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and ${\AA}$ngstr$\ddot{o}$m exponent (AE) using a Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MODIS) were used to analyze large-scale distributions of atmospheric aerosols in East Asia. AOD was relatively high in March ($0.44{\pm}0.25$) and low in September ($0.24{\pm}0.21$) in the East Asian region in 2009. Sandstorms originating from the deserts and dry areas in Northern China and Mongolia were transported on a massive scale during the springtime, thus contributing to the high AOD in East Asia. Although $PM_{10}$ with diameters ${\leq}10{\mu}m$ was the highest in February at Anmyon, Cheongwon and Ulleung, which is located leeward about half-way through the Korean Peninsula, AOD rose to a high in May. The growth of hygroscopic aerosols moving with increases in relative humidity prior to the Asian monsoon season contributed to a high AOD level in May. AE typically reaches its highest value ($1.30{\pm}0.37$) in August due to anthropogenic aerosols originating from industrial areas in Eastern China, while AOD stays low in summer due to the removal process caused by rainfall. The linear correlation coefficients of the MODIS AOD and ground-based mass concentrations of $PM_{10}$ at Anmyon, Cheongwon and Ulleung were 0.4-0.6. Four cases (six days) of mineral dustfall from sandstorms and six cases (twelve days) of anthropogenically polluted particles were observed in the central area of the Korean Peninsula in 2009. $PM_{10}$ mass concentrations increased at both Anmyon and Cheongwon in the cases of mineral dustfall and anthropogenically polluted particles. Cases of dustfall from sandstorms and anthropogenic polluted particles, with increasing $PM_{10}$ mass concentrations, exhibited higher AOD values in the Yellow Sea region.
