  • The most important factor for the desalination system is the fresh water production cost dependent upon the possible energy source which should be obtained easily and with low price. Recently in Korea the demand of LNG, as a cheap and clean energy which does not cause an environmental problem, has sharply been increased. In general, LNG is storaged in a tank as a liquid state below -162 'C. When it is serviced, however, the LNG absorbs energy from a heating source and transforms to the gaseous state with high pressure. During this process a huge amount of cold energy accumulated in LNG is wasted. This waste cold energy can be utilized for producing fresh water from sea water using a sea water freezing desalination system. In order to develop a sea water freezing desalination system and to establish its design technique, a qualitative and quantitative data regarding the freezing behavior of sea water is needed in advance. The goal of this study, therefore, are to reveal the freezing mechanism of sea water, to measure the freezing rate, and to investigate the freezing heat-transfer characteristics. The experimental results help to provide a general understanding of the sea water freezing behavior in a Rectangular vessel cooled from below.

  • Currently as due to the rapid development of industry and increase in population we meet serious problems concerning the shortage and pollution of water. In the country many experts predict a shortage of water approaching 450 million tons by the year 2006. To cope with this serious problem it is necessary to construct desalination plants. In the adoption of a desalination system the most important factor is the cost of fresh water production,. In general LNG is stored in a tank as a liquid state below $-162^{\circ}C$. When it is serviced, however the LNG absorbs energy from a heat source and transforms to a high pressure gaseous state. During this process a huge amount of cold energy accumulated in cooling LNG is wasted. This wasted cold energy can be utilized to produce fresh water by using a sea water freezing desalination system. 어창용 해수 냉각장치 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of sea water cooling apparatus for fish hold storage)

  • The objective of this study was to manufacture the sea water cooling apparatus for fish hold storage to extend the freshness of fish. Using the sea water cooling apparatus manufactured, it makes observations on the physicochemical and sensual properties of mackerel such as ATP and its related compounds, K-value, VBN, TMA, TBA, salt-concentration and skin color through storage. The results of this investigation showed that the values of physicochemical properties such as ATP and its related compounds, K-value, VBN, TMA, TBA increased gradually during storage in sea water cooling apparatus manufactured and the changes of skin color was inhibited also. From these results, it could be suggested that developed sea water cooling apparatus is effective in shelf-life extension of fishes.

  • 모든 액체는 소량의 기체성분들이 녹아있으며, 액체에 용해되는 기체의 양은 액체에 작용하는 주위압력에 기여하는 각 기체성분의 분압에 비례한다는 헨리의 법칙을 따른다. 따라서 다단증발식 해수담수화설비의 경우, 각 증발단의 운전온도와 압력은 다르며, 이 운전조건에 비례하여 해수에 용해되어 있던 기체들이 증발과정에서 방출되는데 주성분은 불응축기체인 이산화탄소, 질소, 산소 및 아르곤이다. 대류열전달의 입장에서는 불응축기체는 증발증기를 응축시키는 냉각기의 성능을 저하시키는 주요한 원인이기 때문에 증발과정에서 방출되는 불응축기체의 평가는 증발식 해수담수화설비에서 중요한 설계인자 중의 한가지이다. 증발식 해수담수화공정의 경우, 대부분의 증발기는 진공압력으로 유지되기 때문에 진공유지장치의 설계를 위해서는 증발과정에서 해수로부터 방출되는 불응축기체의 방출량을 평가하는 것이 매우 중요다. 본 연구는 불응축기체의 방출량을 정량적으로 계산하기 위해 수행하였으며, 연구결과에 따르면 불응축가스의 방출량은 후단으로 갈수록 감소하며, 담수생산량에 비례함을 알 수 있었다.

해수 온도차를 이용한 선박의 ORC 발전 시스템 최적화 (A Optimization of the ORC for Ship's Power Generation System)

  • 본 논문에서는 선박에서 배출되는 $CO_2$ 배출을 최소화하기 위한 노력의 일환으로 선박으로부터 배출되는 열에너지를 회수하고 재활용하는 방안으로 유기랭킨사이클 발전장치를 구동함으로써 선박의 에너지 효율을 높이고 온실가스 배출을 최소화할 수 있는 방안을 연구하였다. 선박에서 배출되는 배기가스와 냉각 시스템에서 배출되는 열에너지를 회수하여 터빈 발전기를 구동하는 ORC 발전시스템을 설계하고 시뮬레이션 하였다. 다양한 친환경 유기냉매를 이용하여 냉매를 적용하여 온도와 유량변화에 따른 열 해석을 실시하였고 냉각수 열원 예열기, 배기가스 가열기로 시스템을 구성하여 2,400kW급의 발전 출력을 얻을 수 있었다.
