A Study for the Development of Fault Diagnosis Technology Based on Condition Monitoring of Marine Engine (선박 엔진의 상태감시 기반 고장진단 기술 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study is a development on condition based maintenance(CBM) technology which is a core item of future autonomous ships. It is developing to design & installation of condition monitoring system and acquisition & processing of data from ongoing ships for fault prediction & prognosis of engine in operation. The ultimate goal of this study is to develop a predicts and decision support software for marine engine faults. To do this, the FMEA and fault tree analysis of the main engine should be accompanied by the analysis of classification of system, identification of the components, the type of faults, and the cause and phenomenon of the failure. Finally, the CBM system solution software could predict and diagnose the failure of main engine through integrated analysis for bid-data of ongoing ships and engineering knowledge. Through this study, it is possible to pro-actively cope with abnormal signals of engine and to manage efficiently, and as a result, expected that marine accident and ship operation loss during navigation will be prevented in advance.

  • In this paper, we propose a standardization strategy for next generation electronic navigational chart which can be classified as S-100 Universal Hydrographic Data Model, to accept various requirements arising from various marine information and services as well as support e-navigation service strategies. IMO uses the next generation electronic chart standard, S-100 as Common Maritime Data Structure. It means that a common data model is needed as a key element for realization of e-Navigation and also points out that a new ICT convergence paradigm is needed not only for marine safety but also for maritime information and services. this paper considers he model-based data representation and reference model in order to understand the content and use of the S-100 standard and also considers the interconnectivity and role of the ISO/TC211 standards, which are being used as base standards for profiling to develop S-100 standard. Finally, we look at what standardization items are required for standardization of next generation electronic navigational chart supporting multi-purpose and how they are used mutually.

  • The Korean e-Navigation operating system is designed to provide various services related to marine safety. These services are not configured to be provided in one software, but are made in separate software. In order to integrate the service software installed in the e-Navigation operating system, it is necessary to define the data message which can exchange data between the service software, Depending on the operating concept of the service, many messages are expected to be transmitted over the network in a short time. There is a need for a buffer or message queue to store messages as a way to manage messages efficiently. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the types and characteristics of Advanced Message Queuing Protocol(AMQP) suitable for Korean e-Navigation operating system and shows that's result.

Simple Kinematic Model Generation by Learning Control Inputs and Velocity Outputs of a Ship (선박의 제어 입력과 속도 출력 학습에 의한 단순 운동학 모델 생성)

  • A simple kinematic model for the prediction of ship manoeuvres based on trial data is proposed in this study. The model consists of first order differential equations in surge, sway, and yaw directions which simulate the time series of each velocity component. Actually instead of sea trial data, dynamic model simulations are conducted with randomly varied control inputs such as propeller revolution rates and rudder angles. Based on learning of control inputs and velocity outputs of dynamic model simulations in sufficient time, kinematic model coefficients are optimized so that the kinematic model can be approximately reproduce the velocity outputs of dynamic model simulations with arbitrary control inputs. The resultant kinematic model is verified with new dynamic simulation sets.

  • The ship type identification of the surrounding ship is important information for navigators and VTS officers since they can estimate the maneuverability and near-future route of the ships. However, it is more than frequent that the information is not provided due to transmission trouble and seafarers' unfamiliarity with AIS. Thus, this study suggests predicting ship types through the Random Forest classifier after preparing a training and test dataset that contains ship features and types. The AIS data for Ulsan coast in 2018 was used for this study. The method may provide the effect that many navigators and VTS officers discuss and share the experience of predicting ship types.

  • Each on-board equipment providing navigational and engine information has different signals. These signals should be analyzed, be transformed to the standard digital form and be transmitted to each client on board through the earlier developed ILU (integrated LAN unit). Therefore this paper is to analyze the signals of each equipment for navigation and engine and the serial technology necessary for the equipment and IDU (information display unit), and then develop an SIU(ship's interface unit).

  • Recently, ships have begun using the Asterix CAT 240 format as a method for transmitting radar image data to other devices. However, the Asterix format has a flexible structure that can be defined by the user, and a format structure defined as unsuitable for ship radar operation may undesirably increase navigational equipment network traffic or reduce stability. Therefore, to reduce the traffic of the navigation network and enhance the stability, a method of defining the optimized Asterix CAT 240 format with an appropriate setting value according to the performance of the radar scanner and display device was studied.

Analysis of Variation of East Asian Monsoon (겨울철 동아시아 계절풍의 변화에 대한 연구)

  • 겨울철에 동아시아는 시베리아 대륙으로부터 부는 북서계절풍의 영향을 크게 받는다. 지속성이 강한 계절풍은 선박의 안전운항과 기상재해에 큰 영향을 미친다. 이 연구에서는 30년간(1992-2021년)의 장기간의 데이터를 이용하여 동아시아에 위치해 있는 우리나라와 일본에서의 겨울철 계절풍의 변화를 분석하였다. 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 우리나라 서해안에 위치한 군산에서의 풍속은 시간의 흐름과 함께 약해지는 경향을 보이나, 인천에서는 큰 변화가 보이지 않는다. 우리나라 제주도에 위치한 고산은 다른 두 지역보다 월등히 강한 풍속을 보이나, 이 지역 또한 시간의 흐름과 함께 풍속이 약해지고 있음을 확인하였다. 인천, 군산 및 고산 중에서 풍속이 가장 강한 곳은 고산이고, 그 다음은 인천, 군산의 순이다. 일본의 아키타, 와지마, 하마다의 겨울철 풍속은 세 지역 모두 점진적으로 약해지고 있으나, 2000년에 세 곳 모두 풍속이 급격히 강해진 특징을 보였으며 2005-2007년에는 풍속이 다시 약해졌다. 풍속이 가장 강한 곳은 아키타이며, 그 다음으로는 하마다, 와지마 순이다. 우리나라와 일본을 비교하였을 때, 고산을 제외하고는 일본이 우리나라보다 평균적으로 풍속이 더 강한 양상을 띠고 있어, 서해보다 동해에서 계절풍이 더 강하게 불고 있음을 확인하였다.

Human-likeness of an Agent's Movement-Data Loci based on Realistically Limited Perception Data (제한적 인지 데이터에 기초한 에이전트 움직임-데이터 궤적의 인간다움)

  • This present paper's goal is to show a virtual human agent's movement-data loci based on realistically limited perception data is human-like. To determine human-likeness of the movement-data loci, we consider interactions between two parameters: Realistically Limited Perception (RLP) data and Incremental Movement-Path data Generation (IMPG). That is to consider how the former (i.e., RLP), one of the simulated parameters of human thought or its elements dictates the latter (i.e., IMPG), one of the simulated parameters of human movement behavior. Mapping DB is a prerequisite for navigation in an agent system because it functions as an interface between perception and movement behavior. Although Hill et al. studied mapping DB methodology based on RLP, their research dealt only with a rendering camera's view point data. The agent system in this present paper was integrated with the Hill's mapping DB module and then the two parameters' interaction was considered on a military reconnaissance mission with unexpected enemy emergence. Movement loci that were generated by the agent and subjects were compared with each other. The agent system in this present research verifies that it can be a functional test bed for producing human-like movement-data loci although the human-likeness of agent is the result of a pilot test, determined by two parameters (RLP and IMPG) and only 30 subjects.

Validation on the algorithm of estimation of collision risk among ships based on AIS data of actual ships' collision accident (선박충돌사고 AIS 데이터 기반 선박 충돌위험도 추정 알고리즘 검증에 관한 연구)

  • An estimation algorithm of collision risk among multiple ships has been developed in order to reduce human error and prevent collision accidents. The algorithm is designed to calculate the collision risk among ships based on Fuzzy theory by using AIS data as traffic information. In this paper, to validate the algorithm, the AIS data of actual collision accident, which occurred between a product carrier and a cargo carrier in Busan harbor in 2009 are collected. The replay simulation is carried out on the actual AIS data and the collision risk is calculated in real time. In this paper, the features of the estimation algorithm of collision risk and the results of replay simulation based on AIS data of actual collision accident are discussed.
