This paper propose a heuristic method that divides the block into some work regions to operate stacking cranes efficiently in a automated container terminal where the blocks with non-crossing stacking cranes(SC) are laid out in perpendicular to the quay. Typically, fund over between SCS and trucks occur at each side if the blocks, and each if the landside and seaside SCS is responsible for the jobs that occur at its own side. When a container to be fetched is located far from fund over point, the SC should move a long distance and the interference between the two cranes am occur, which decreases the productivity of the SCS. Therefore, our method divides the block into two exclusive and one shared regions and let the containers located far from their fund over points to be transferred to the shared region by the other side crane before they are carried out. Although simple this method am reduce the crane movement and the interference between the two cranes. Simulation experiment shows that our proposed method significantly improves the productivity if the container terminal than previous heuristic that does not divide work regions.
Remarshaling is referred to a preparatory task of rearranging containers piled up in a stacking yard to improve the efficiency of loading. Selective remarshaling is required because the time for remarshaling known as large time-consuming task is not enough to remarshal all containers. In this research, we compare two previous researches in more objectively way: heuristic and genetic algorithm based approaches. In addition, we prove the effect of iterative reselection method on dwindling the gap between plan and execution due to the uncertainty of crane operation during execution. Simulation experiments under realistic uncertainty model show that heuristic approaches which have few computational complexity can cope with the uncertainty well when reselection interval is short, but genetic algorithm based approach has advantages when reselection interval that can ensure appropriate number of evolutions is given because of computational complexity for search.
Recently, an automatic crane control system is required with high speed and rapid transportation. Therefore, when container is transferred from th intial coordinate to the finial coordinate, the container paths should be built in terms of the least time and no swing. So in this paper, we calculated the anti-collision path for avoiding collision in its movement to the finial coordinate. And we constructed the neural network predictive PID (NNPPID) controller to control the precise navigation. The proposed predictive control system is composed of the neural network predictor, PID controller, neural network self-tuner which yields parameters of PID. Analyzed crane system through simulation, and proved excellency of control performance than other conventional controllers.

In container terminals, stacking yard is the place where import and export containers are temporarily stored before being loaded onto or after being discharged from a ship. Since all the containers go through the stacking yard in their logistic flow, the productivity of the terminal critically depends on efficient operation of stacking yard, which again depends on how well the stacking locations of the incoming containers are determined. However, a good location for stacking an incoming container later can turn out to be a bad one when that container is to be fetched out of the stacking yard, especially if some rehandling is required. This means that good locations for the containers are changing over time. Therefore, in most container terminals, the so-called remarshaling is done to move the containers from bad location to good locations. Although there are many previous works on remarshaling, they all assume that the remarshaling can be done separately from the main jobs when the cranes are idle for rather a long period of time. However, in reality, cranes are hardly available for a period long enough for remarshaling. This paper proposes a crane dispatching strategy that allows remarshaling jobs to be mixed together with the main jobs whenever an opportunity is detected. Experimental results by simulation reveals that the proposed method effectively contributes to the improvement of terminal productivity.
IMO (International Maritime Organization) has been strengthening the regulations of ship emission gas such as sulfur oxides (SOX), nitrogen oxides (NOX) and carbon dioxides (CO2) to protect the marine environment. Especially, ECA (Emission Control Area) has been set and operated in the USA and US. As a countermeasure against these environmental regulations, the demand for environmentally, friendly and highly efficient vessels has led to a growing interest in technology related research with respect to electric propulsion systems capable of reducing exhaust gas. Container ships were excluded from the application coverage of the electric propulsion systems for reasons of operation at economical speed. However, in the future, the need for electric propulsion system is expected to rise, because it is easy to monitor and control so that it can be an applicate to smart ship which are represented by fourth industrial revolution technology. In this study, research was carried out to design a generator and battery capacity through the load analysis of the 6,800TEU container ship to apply the electric propulsion system of the container ship. A capacity design based on the load analysis has an advantage that the generator can be operated in a high efficiency section through the load distribution control using the battery.

In this paper, an automation algorithm of analyzing and scheduling the station-keeping maneuver is presented for Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS). The perturbation analysis for keeping the position of the geostationary satellite is performed by analytic methods. The east/west and north/south station-keeping maneuvers we simulated for COMS. Weekly east/west and biweekly north/south station-keeping maneuvers are investigated for a period of one year. Various station-keeping orbital parameters are analyzed. As the position of COMS is not yet decided at either $128.2^{\circ}E\;or\;116.0^{\circ}E$, both cases are simulated. For the case of $128.2^{\circ}E$, east/west station-keeping requires ${\Delta}V$ of 3.50m/s and north/south station-keeping requires ${\Delta}V$ of 52.71m/s for the year 2009. For the case of $116.0^{\circ}E,\;{\Delta}V$ of 3.86m/s and ${\Delta}V$ of 52.71m/s are required for east/west and north/south station-keeping, respectively. The results show that the station-keeping maneuver of COMS is more effective at $128.2^{\circ}E$.
