이번에 소개할 건물은 대만의 항구도시로써 국제적 요충지 구실을 하면서 문화적으로 점차 융성해 가고 있는 가오슝에 위치하고 있는 국립 예술 가오슝 센터(The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts(Wei-Wu-Ying)) 이다. 2000 좌석의 콘서트홀과 2250 석의 오페라홀, 이외에도 크고 작은 극장을 겸비하고 있는 이 시설은 네덜란드의 건축사 그룹 Mecanoo에 의해서 설계되었다. 이곳은 전 군사기지였던 곳을 아열대 공원으로 형성시킨 숲을 바라보는 곳에 위치한다.

우리 나라가 개화기를 맞고부터 오늘에 이르기까지 상공업의 요충으로서 국가발전에 중요한 역할을 담당해 오고 있는 서해안의 항구도시 인천. 이곳 인천의 서쪽 맨끝 월미도의 북쪽 상단에는 올해로 창업 51주년을 맞은 그야말로 우리 나라 목재업계읜 선봉장이라고 할 수 있는 대성목재공업(주)의 월미공장이 자리하고 있다. 최근 경기의 호전으로 그간 이 업계가 겪어 왔던 오랜 불황의 늪에서 벗어나 현장은 활기에 차 있고 그들의 일손이 바삐 움직이고 있는 것에서 이 공장의 밝은 앞날을 쉽게 예견할 수 있다.

부산은 쾌적하고 깨끗한 도시환경조성으로 향후 2002년 아시안게임 및 월드컵 경기대회를 성공적으로 개최하기 위해 대기오염자동측정소(11개소) 및 대기환경측정차량을 이용하여 부산지역 및 주요 경기장, 마라톤코스 등에 대해 대기질을 측정하고 그 결과를 토대로 대기오염관리 대책을 수립하고 있다. 대도시 지역의 대기오염은 약 70% 가량이 자동차에서 배출되는 오염물질에 의한 것으로 부산의 경우 우리나라 제1의 항구도시라는 특성상 콘테이너 차량의 95%가 부산에 집중해 있으며$^{1)}$ , 매년 자동차의 증가율이 약 10%로 지속적으로 증가하고 있으며 낮은 도로율로 인한 자동차의 정체가 가중되어 대기질이 악화되어 마라톤 등의 도로경기는 차량의 배출가스에 절대적으로 많은 영향을 받을 수밖에 없는 현실이다. The history of the Korean lighthouse have been known to be begun from which installed by the purpose of the Japanese invasion of the outside. Modern navigational aid system have configured during the Japanese ruling era since the Incheon Palmido Lighthouse was built in 1903 as the first lighthouse in Korea. But in this regard it needs to be considered more carefully. Busan, as the city of international port and of Choryang Waegwan, had been a center of foreign relations between Korea and Japan since early 15th century. Because that reason, International port facility has been developed for a long time ago in Busan for example lighthouse, breakwater, wharf, jetty and so on. Nevertheless the lack of historical data and basic research related to the marine caused the proper history could not be established until now. In recently the basic translation of Korean Maritime Customs documents started to finish, and a compilation book of old pictorial maps on Choryang Waegwan was issued. As a result, more objective history of Busan Aids to Navigation can be investigated.

The spaces of port and urban in a Port City have different space characteristics substantially, but those are required to be developed interdependently. Degradation and loss of the sense of place in the existing spaces caused by decline of natural function have an adverse effect on the revival of local economy as well as make worse image of the entire city. In some developed countries, therefore, many researches on the port spaces lagging behind the times due to changes of the characteristics and function of port spaces have been conducted continuously for a long time. This study aims at seeking a device how the domestic hinterland could be utilized as efficient spaces having the characteristics of outskirts space and port city interface through the application of characteristics of the interface space of port city, capable of playing a role as buffer zone between the port space and the city space.

A lot of city have different characteristics in their location, space and environment each other. These characters are the factors showing inherent placeness of each space, and those factors should be reflected sufficiently in urban planning and development. Nonetheless, there are many parts that are not actually reflected in the plan, and this creates a space of unexpected arming. Especially, port area in a port city has strong characteristics of culture, history, geography and environment of the city concerned so it must make more creative and unique space. Therefore, it is considered that not only the physical factors but also the social factors should be actively reflected to highlight the place character of the port space. In this paper we are to construct the factors forming the placeness of port space based on the Form Based Codes rising as a flexible urban planning method in order to avoid rigidity of existing use district zoning system, and establish the placeness character of each port area.

샌디에이고 국제 광학 및 포토닉스 박람회(SPIE Optics + Photonics)가 지난 8월 12일부터 16일까지 남부 캘리포니아의 아름다운 항구도시 샌디에이고(San Diego)에서 개최됐다. 한미자유무역협정(FTA)이 발효되었는데도 단 하나의 국내 기업만이 전시장에 출품하는 실정이다. 따라서 협회는 회원사들의 미국 진출을 지원할 수 있는 신규 사업을 조속히 시작할 필요가 있다. 최근 삼성과 애플의 미국 특허소송에서 삼성전자가 완패해 천문학적인 배상금을 지불해야 한다는 충격적인 뉴스가 전해졌다. 이로 인해 애플사는 미국 주식 역사상 가장 비싼 시가총액 세계 1위 기업으로 등극했다. 창의력이 중요한 이 시대에 아직도 국내 산업, 경제, 정치가 1980년대를 주름잡았던 무조건 밀어붙이면 된다는 식의 '쌍팔년도 사고(思考)'에서 벗어나지 못하고 특허전쟁에서 완패당했다고 생각하면 안타까운 심정을 금할 수 없다. 이번 삼성과 애플의 특허전쟁이 국내 제조업계가 창조적으로 환골탈태하는 계기가 될 수 있을 것이다. 국내 광학업체들이 일본, 대만, 중국 등과의 치열한 경쟁으로 정신없이 바쁘더라도 해외 전람회에 창조적이고 감성적인 신제품을 출품해야 세계 최고의 글로벌 기업으로 도약할 수 있을 것이라고 생각한다.

This study is performed to light up the semiotic system of streetscape in the harbor on the basic concept of all cultural phenomena that could be described as a Semiotic System. The semiotic approach to landscape analysis was used for understanding landscape characteristics owing to implication of psychological process. Streets of the study were located at Ganguri and Opori on Gang-Gu Harbor and the signboard semiotics of streets were divided into 17 meanings according to the business category. The analysis of this category was applicable on semiotic meaning. The research results are as follows: First, the main part of the business category was food. 56.3% of Ganguri and 61.8% of Opori had the name of food businesses. Second, the semiotic characteristics of Gang-Gu harbor streets mainly mean place name or friendly name. The food business could be related to the principal products of this district which are called Young-Duk Great Crab. Also, the place name could be from symbolic meaning of the crab and the friendly name could be connected with increasing the sales. Finally, the semiotic approach to landscape does not fully cover the streetscape but could be useful for understanding a skeleton of harbor streetscape.

The development of the traffic system has brought relative reduction in aspect of the cost and time distance on the geographical space. SOC(social overhead capital), an express highway and railroad, has a great and absolute effect on the prosperity of community, As Mokpo is one of the community under the influence q West costal highway express and KTX(Korea Train Express), the number of the tourists visiting city of port like Mokpo has increasing gradually, especially at the high-demand season(in Summer). But the coastal passenger boot can't be capable of customers arriving at the port. As a result of this situation, the 'balking' occurs. No 'balking', means the jam of road. In this thesis, by understanding the concept and property of ARENA and simulating operation of coastal passenger boot at Mokpo port, intends to analyze the truth of 'balking' and finds an effective operation method of coastal passenger boot for the solution to the traffic jam. The solution to the jam in the vicinity of port of Mokpo, which try to develop tourism package commodity now, will present the effect of qualitative analysis in giving an opportunity of economic growth of the community, Mokpo.

Although Incheon metropolitan city is the third largest city in Korea, it is called 'the gateway to Seoul', 'the second city of port', and 'the satellite city'. The people in Incheon as well as other regions unconsciously recognize this city as 'border' and 'periphery' of Seoul through those expressions. These perceptions also develop a negative sense of place about Incheon. This study starts with analysis about marginal landscape images of Incheon in texts such as movies, stories, and geography textbooks. The represented text as movie has a gap between real space and it. Nevertheless, Its strong point is a making problems clear about recognition of reality. I will inquire the origin of senses of place about Incheon through analysis of represented texts. Moreover, I will present the notion of 'flight' that stands on the basis of Deleuze's Nomadism. Here, 'flight' means that the active subject continuously challenges and reforms the nature of periphery and dependency, the capital, and the economic subordination, and it will have to be new identity and direction of Incheon.
