Technology Development for Pilot Scale Syngas Production and Utilization System using Oil Sand (오일샌드를 이용한 pilot급 합성가스 제조 및 활용 시스템 개발)

  • 오일샌드는 아스팔트와 같은 중질유를 10% 이상 함유한 모래 또는 사암으로서, 겉으로 보기에는 시커먼 흙이나 모래처럼 보이나 내부에는 모래(점토)와 같은 광물질이 70~80%, 에너지원으로 활용이 가능한 중질유 성분인 bitumen이 10~18%, 물이 3~5% 정도 혼합되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 오일샌드 활용방안 개발을 위하여 오일샌드로부터 bitumen의 추출 및 증류 특성에 대한 시험을 진행하였으며, 가스화를 통한 합성가스 제조, 합성가스 중 분진제거 및 탈황, CO/$H_2$비 제어를 위한 합성가스 전환 등의 시험을 진행하였는데, pilot급 시스템을 이용한 합성가스 제조 시험 결과 중질잔사유를 5~7 kg/h 공급하는 조건에서 CO 40~50%, $H_2$ 20~30%, $CO_2$ 10~20% 조성의 합성가스 18~22 $Nm^3$/h를 제조하였다.

Synthesis and Properties of N-Acyl Glycine Used Triglyceride (트리글리세라이드를 이용한 N-아실 글리신의 합성 및 물성)

  • Amino acid based surfactants as protein-surfactants is eco-friendly compound. So, amino acid based surfactants is expected as next generation surfactants. Amino acid based surfactants has high biodegradability, low toxicity and surface active properties. In this experiment, amino acid based surfactants, cocoyl glycine, was synthesized by glycine and triglyceride such as coconut oil and palm oil. And it was tested the surface tension, emulsifying properties, foam stability and HLB value. The synthesized surfactants was confirmed by FT-IR. Surface tension of surfactants synthesized by coconut oil on diluted aqueous solutions of surfactants was 31.2 dyne/cm at $1.0{\times}10^{-4}mol/L$. Surface tension of surfactants synthesized by palm oil on the diluted aqueous solutions of surfactants was 42.1 dyne/cm at $3.2{\times}10^{-5}mol/L$. Foam stability measured the foam height as time passed. Initial foam height of surfactants synthesized by coconut oil is 14.5 cm, and 10.7 cm after five minutes. Initial foam height of surfactants synthesized by palm oil is 3.0 cm, and 2.8 cm after five minutes. Foam height of surfactants synthesized by coconut oil was higher than surfactants synthesized by palm oil. But foam stability of surfactants synthesized by palm oil was better than surfactants synthesized by coconut oil. The emulsifying properties of synthesized surfactants are observed in benzene and soybean oil and emulsifying properties in organic solvent is better than in soybean oil.

환경수용성 윤활기유의 기술적 고찰

  • 전세계적으로 환경보호의 중요성에 대한 인식이 높아짐에 따라 "환경수용성(Environmentally Acceptable) 윤활기유에"에 대한 관심도 늘어나고 있으며, 선진국에서는 이미 이에 관한 연구가 국가적인 차원에서 진행되고 있다. 환경수용성 윤활기유는 크게 식물성 오일, 동물성 오일 및 합성 윤활기유로 분류된다. 환경수용성 윤활기유의 중요한 물성으로는 기유의 화학적 조성, 물리적 및 화학적 성질에 따른 생분해성 및 산화 안정성 등을 들 수 있다. 대표적인 환경수용성 윤활기유는 정제된 유채오일과 선택적으로 합성된 에스테르오일이 점차 주목을 받고 있으며 특히 이들의 생분해성이 우수하므로 그 중요성이 증가되고 있다. 유채오일과 에스테르오일을 비교해 보면 유채오일은 공급이 충분하고 비교적 값이 싼 반면에 에스테르오일은 식물성 오일보다 윤활 안정성은 우수하나 가격이 비싼 단점 때문에 광범위하게 사용되는데 다소 문제가 되고 있다. 이러한 문제에도 불구하고 생분해성이 우수한 에스테르오일이 오늘날 환경에 해로운 영향을 미치는 광유계 윤활기유를 대체할 수 있을 것으로 추정된다. 본고에서는 환경수용서 윤활기유의 중요성과 그 종류 및 개발동향에 관하여 고찰하고자 한다. 고찰하고자 한다.

Quality Monitoring for Domestic Distributing Engine Oil (국내 유통 엔진오일 품질 모니터링)

  • The vehicle lubricant has captured 35% of the total lubricant market while the engine oil possessed 77% of the vehicle lubricant market in Korea. The suitable quality management of circulating engine oil is thus required for the driver and engine protection. But, KS and synthetic engine oil products (containing over 30% synthetic oil) are exempt to any quality inspections under Petroleum and Alternative Fuel Business Act. In this study, our research group investigated the quality monitoring of 30 kinds of domestic distributing synthetic engine oils. Two kinds of the engine oil showed an off specification from the test results; one engine oil is an imported and the other is a KS synthetic one. Also, the pattern of engine oils were analyzed using SIMDIST (simulated distillation) and the most engine oils had a broad carbon number spectrum, which is a typical of mineral oils except several imported products. Thus, we concluded that relevant laws for the proper quality management of synthetic oils and KS products are needed to be established for preventing consumer's damages.

Preparation of Spherical Silica by Water/oil Microemulsion with Minimal Oil Content (오일 양이 최소화된 물/오일 에멀젼을 통한 구형 마이크로 크기 실리카 합성)

  • We prepared spherical silica by minimizing the amount of oil through water/oil (W/O) emulsion. The spherical silica was successfully synthesized by using 20 to 60 mL of hexane as an oil for 283 g of water glass. The size of silica was dependent on the amount of oil where the size of silica particles increased as the amount of oil increased. The specific surface areas of samples measured using the BET method were 186 to 230 ㎡/g. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis results showed that the SiO2 content was more than 90% while sodium was 3.27~4.5 wt. %. The spherical silica prepared in this study could be optimized for mass synthesis and commercialization because the industrial sodium silicate solution was used as a precursor of Si as well as the minimum amounts of hexane and nonionic surfactant were employed.

The SIMDIST (Simulated Distillation) Analysis of Distributing Engine Oil (국내 유통 엔진오일 고온모사증류시험 분석)

  • The vehicle lubricant occupies upto 35% in a total lubricant market and engine oil occupies upto 77% in the vehicle lubricant market in Korea. A suitable quality management of the circulating engine oil is necessary for driver and engine protection. But, KS and synthetic engine oil products (involved over 30% synthetic oil) are exempt to any quality management under Petroleum and Alternative Fuel Business Act. It is also known that synthetic oils such as PAO (poly alpha olefin) have excellent properties and performance like anti-wear, varnish control and oxidation stability than those of mineral oils. For this reason, PAO has been used for an engine oil, rotary screw and reciprocating compressor in addition to heavy duty and other extreme service applications. In this study, our research group analyzed the chromatogram pattern for the mineral oil, PAO and mineral oil involved a typical ratio of PAO using SIMDIST (simulated distillation). In the SIMDIST chromatogram, the mineral oil showed a broad peak, while PAO showed a sharp typical peak. Also the oil with a large viscosity grade exhibited a long retention time due to the heavy molecular weight and high boiling point. In particular, the blended mineral oil with 20% PAO sample showed a distinctly different pattern compared to that of using the conventional mineral oil. For monitoring PAO contents in distributing engine oils, we analyzed the SIMDIST for 27 kinds of engine oils which were popularly sold in Korea. The analytic results indicate that all kinds of engine oils showed that PAO contents were below 20% in engine oil products. Moreover, the PAO titled product was found to have a small amount of PAO. Thus, we conclude that the related laws for the proper quality management of synthetic oils are needed to be established.

Synthesis and Friction Properties of Oil-impregnated Nylon 6 (오일함침 나일론 6의 합성 및 마찰특성)

  • Oil-impregnated nylons were synthesized by anionic polymerization of ${\varepsilon}$-caprolactam in the presence of mineral oils. Reaction rate and molecular weight of the product were not significantly affected by the addition of oils less than 8 phr. Physical properties such as elongation and notched impact strength were improved by the addition of oil, on the other hand hardness and tensile stress at break were slightly decreased. Oil-impregnated nylon with an oil content of 6 phr showed a minimum friction coefficient, which is only 32% compared to a friction coefficient of nylon 6 without oil.

  • Automobile engine oil is the most important lubricant for operating as the engine is started. Recently, manufacturers of the automotive industry and lubricants are considerably improving the quality of oil with additive to extend change cycle period. Most customers are recommended genuine oil among different types from shop expert. Through this report we suggest another reference point for consumer to pick highly efficient lubricant. This report is investigated oil compounds to compare with 6 different automotive considering actual running condition for 7 months. we conducted experiment from physical and chemical perspectives. In the field, through various experiments oil compounds between mineral oil and synthetic oil are largely distinguished in oxidation, viscosity, fluid and TBN. These are influenced by engine part wear as piston, bearing etc. Comparing various investigation with different oil the performance of synthetic oil is shown better condition in flash point, oxidation stability and also found less in change pollutant iron, Al compounds. Additives of oil show clear difference Ca level in detergent-dispersant both mineral oil and synthetic oil. And Zn in extreme pressure additives and P in Lubricity improver make no difference to both.

  • 저급 연료원인 오일샌드는 아스팔트와 같은 중질유를 10% 이상 함유한 모래 또는 사암으로서, 겉으로는 시커먼 흙이나 모래처럼 보이나 내부에는 bitumen, 모래(점토) 및 물 등이 광물질 70~80%, bitumen 10~18%, 물 3~5% 정도의 비율로 혼합되어 있는데, 가열 또는 용매 추출 방식으로 오일샌드에 포함되어 있는 bitumen을 분리하여 정제하면 원유를 생산할 수 있으므로 고유가 시대의 대체에너지원으로 세계적인 석유회사들이 개발을 진행하고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 이러한 저급 연료원인 오일샌드 bitumen의 활용기술 개발을 위하여 기초특성 분석 결과 bitumen과 가장 유사한 특성을 가지는 것으로 파악된 중질잔사유를 대상으로 가스화를 통한 액체연료 전환을 위해 고점도 시료공급장치, 가스화기, 집진장치, 탈황장치, 수성가스 전환장치, 합성가스 압축장치, DME 전환장치 등으로 구성되는 시스템을 구축한 후 시험을 진행하였다.

Comparision of Anti-microbial Oils as Natural Preservatives (천연방부제로서 항균오일의 항균력 비교)

  • Natural essential oils showed anti-microbial activity on relatively broad spectrum of bacterial and fungal species. These materials had much more intensive anti-microbial activities than synthetic preservatives on C. albicans, A niger, and P. acnes, especially. In the experimental group, anti-microbial activity was order of tea tree oil (from Melaleuca alternifolia) > methylparaben > phytoncide (from Chamaecyparis obtusa). Also, natural essential oils had anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. These results suggest that natural essential oils can be useful as good cosmetic ingredients such as natural preservatives and anti-oxidants.
