Study on Pattern Synthesis of Conformal Phased Array Antenna (컨포멀 위상 배열 안테나의 패턴 합성에 대한 고찰)

  • This paper describes the pattern synthesis method of two kinds of conformal array antenna using the Enhanced Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (EAGA). One is the $1{\times}16$ conformal array antenna on a curved cylindrical metallic surface with quadratic function, and the other is the 18-element conformal arrary antenna on a metallic surface obtained by the rotation of a quadratic function curve around the axis. The active element pattern is utilized in the pattern synthesis. Especially for the case of the rotated-type conformal array antenna the transformed active element pattern obtained from the Euler's angle rotation of the active element pattern of the planar concentric array is utilized, which reduces the synthesis time a lot. To verify the validity of the proposed synthesis method the MATLAB results are compared with the MWS results. Furthermore, for the case of $1{\times}16$ conformal array antenna the measured results are compared with the MATLAB synthesized results.

Design of a RF power amplifier using distributed network syntheses (분포정수 회로합성을 이용한 RF 전력 증폭기 설계)

  • In this paper, the distributed network synthesis, which is useful to the design of wireless power amplifiers, is proposed, and a RF power amplifier is designed using the technique. The transfer function of distributed matching circuits is derived by Chebyshev approximation, and network element values for a specified topology are given as a function of minimum insertion losses and ripples. As an example, after a power transistor is modeled by load-pull data, the synthesis for distributed matching networks is applied to a power amplifier design, which has the electrical performance of 17dB gain and less IM3 than -43dBc at the 20W output power between 800 to 900MHz frequency range. Experimental results from a fabricated amplifier are shown to approach the design performance in the operating frequency range. The design of impedance matching networks by the transfer function synthesis is a useful method for the design of RF power amplifiers.

  • A Synthetic Unit Hydrograph Method was investigated for representation of the effective rainfall-direct runoff hydrograph by using a Geomorphologic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograpb(GIUH) proposed by Gupta et al(1980). The response function of the basin was assumed to be the two-parameter gamma probability density function. The physical parameters of the response function(Nash Model) was determined by using the regression eqs. were parameterized in terms of Horton order ratios and the relations between the basin lag time and time-scale parameter. The capability of the Synthetic Unit Hydrograph to the real basin was tested for the Pyungchang river basin and Wi Stream basin, and its capability to reproduce the hydrologic response was investigate and compared with the Moment Method and the Least Square Method used incomplete gamma function. The representation of the peak flow, the time to peak and the hydrographs the derived Synthetic Unit Hydrograph were tested on some obseved flood data and showed promising, and it was approved to be used for prediction of the ungaged basins.

  • In this paper, we propose a side-peak cancellation technique of composite binary offset carrier (CBOC) signals for e-navigation. First, we divide a CBOC sub-carrier into several sub-carrier pulses, and then, observe that CBOC autocorrelation is the sum of multiple sub-correlation functions. Finally, we propose a novel correlation function with no side-peak and a sharp main-peak by combining the sub-correlation functions to improve the positioning accuracy. From numerical results, we confirm that the proposed correlation function with a sharp main-peak provides a better positioning performance than the conventional correlation functions in terms of the tracking error standard deviation.

Estimation of the frequency component and the orientational angle in texture image based on the QPS filter (QPS 필터에 의한 질감영상의 주파수성분과 방향각 평가)

  • Several improved quadrature polar separable (QPS) filters have been proposed and applied in texture processing since Knutsson proposed the QPS filter. They include a Knutsson's cosine function or oan exponential attenuation function, as the orientational function, and a Knutsson's exponential function or a finite prolate spheroidal sequence (FPSS) or an asymptotic FPSS, as the radial weighting functions. They represent different properties in terms of the generation of texture images, the orientational estimation, and the segmentation of synthetic texture image. In this paper, we have constructed several kernal functions for the 2-D QPS filter and analyzed their properties. A series of experiments have been carried out in order to estimate the frequency components and orientational angles of a local texture in Fourier domain. finally some problems encountered in applying QPS filters to feature description and segmentation are considered. Experimental results show that the improved Knutsson's filter and the asymptotic FPSS filter are useful in terms of the orientational estimation and the sementation of synthetic texture image.

Corresponding Points Estimation of Motion Images by Orthogonal Function Expansion (직교 함수 전개법에 의한 동영상의 대응점 추출)

  • In computing the optical flow, Horn and Schunck's method which is a representative algorithm is based on differentiation. Therefore it is difficult to estimate the velocity for a large displacement by this algorithm. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating nonuniform motion from sequential images which is based on integral brightness constancy constraints. The equations which transform a source image to a target image are expressed as a function of the displacement field. If marginal effects can be neglected, the form of the transformation integral transform or orthogonal expansion can be determined from the expansion coefficients of the two images. The apparent displacement field is then computed iteratively by a projection method which utilities the functional derivatives of the linearized moment equations. We demonstrate that the performance of the orthogonal function transform on the data set of large motion.

  • MPEG-4 Parametric Coding 중 저 비트율로 음성신호를 부호화하는 HVXC(Harmonic Vector excitation Ending)의 복호화 모듈인 LSP 합성필터와 무성음 합성부, 유성음 합성부를 VHDL을 이용하여 구현하였다. MPEG-4 HVXC의 복호화 과정은 코드북을 이용하여 LSP 계수, VXC signal, 그리고 Spectral Envelop이 복호화 되어 각각 LSP 역필터, 무성음과 유성음 합성단을 통과하여 LPC계수와 유,무성음 여기신호로 변환된 후 LPC 합성필터링 과정을 거쳐 최종적으로 음성신호를 출력시킨다. LSP inverse filter에서 사용되는 cosine함수값을 위하여 Table based Approximation을 이용하여 적은 양의 Table 값을 사용하여 정확하고 고속의 cosine 연산을 수행하였다. VXC 복호화 과정에서는 신호의 중복성을 제거하는 Hidden Address in LSH 방법을 사용하여 코드북의 크기를 줄였다. 유성음 합성단에서는 IFFT 모듈을 이용하여 연산속도를 증가 시켰다. 최종적으로 위와 같이 구현된 시스템을 Simulation을 통해 Software 검증을 하였다.

Synthesis of Multi-level Reed Muller Circuits using BDDs (BDD를 이용한 다단계 리드뮬러회로의 합성)

  • This paper presents a synthesis method for multi-level Reed-Muller circuits using BDDs(Binary Decision Diagrams). The existing synthesis tool for Reed circuits, FACTOR, is not appropriate to the synthesis of large circuits because it uses matrix (map-type) to represent given logic functions, resulting in the exponential time and space in number of imput to the circuits. For solving this problems, a syntheisis method based on BDD is presented. Using BDDs, logic functions are represented compactly. Therefor storage spaces and computing time for synthesizing logic functions were greatly decreased, and this technique can be easily applied to large circuits. Using BDD representations, the proposed method extract best patterns to minimize multi-level Reed Muller circuits with good performance in area optimization and testability. Experimental results using the proposed method show better performance than those using previous methods〔2〕. For large circuits of considering the best input partition, synthesis results have been improved.
