'Scientificization' of oriental medicine is a task to be preceded for K-MEDI in the world. Also, We are trying to secure efficacy and safety through scientifically proving the efficacy of Oriental medicine. This paper. We propose a biomarker extraction algorithm for genetic lesion reading of Oriental medicine. Also, A variety of applications in terms of Oriental medicine. Oriental medicine was suggested as a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of the treatment.

Yangkyuksanhwa-Tang (YKSH), consisting of nine different herbs, is commonly used in Soyangin-type individuals with stroke, based on the Sasang Constitution Theory in Korea. However, no evidence has yet confirmed a beneficial effect of YKSH in ischemic stroke treatment. In this study, we investigated the effects of YKSH on ischemic brain injury in a mouse model of cerebral ischemia. Focal cerebral ischemia in mice was induced by photothrombosis, and behavioral recovery was evaluated. Infarct volume, inflammation, and newly generated cells were evaluated by histology and immunochemistry. YKSH treatment resulted in a significant recovery from the motor impairments induced by focal cerebral ischemia, as determined with wire grip and rotarod tests. YKSH treatment also decreased the infarct volume and the number of cells positive for tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ and myeloperoxidase when compared with a vehicle-treated control group. By contrast, YKSH treatment considerably increased the number of cells positive for glial fibrillary acidic protein and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1, as well as the number of cells doubly positive for Ki67/doublecortin when compared with the vehicle-treated group. These results suggest that YKSH treatment attenuated the infarct size by anti-inflammatory action, astrocyte and microglia activation, and neuronal proliferation, thereby facilitating neurofunctional recovery from a cerebral ischemic assault. YKSH could therefore be a potential treatment for neurofunctional restoration of the injured brains of patients with stroke.

연구 목적 이 연구는 내측 반월상 연골판 손상으로 인한 무릎 통증을 호소하는 5명의 환자에서 한의학적 치료, 특히 신바로 약침으로 인한 통증 개선이 있었기에 보고함이다. 연구 방법 무릎 통증으로 본원 입원치료를 받은 환자 중, MRI 영상 검사상 내측 반월상 연골 파열 진단을 받은 환자들의 차트를 분석하였다. 슬관절 통증 호전 및 기능 개선은 Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC Index), 슬관절 Range Of Motion(ROM) 및 special tests 측정으로 판단하였다. 연구 결과 5증례에서 NRS는 평균 3.4의 호전, WOMAC Index는 평균 64.4%의 호전을 보였다. 슬관절 ROM 측정에서 환자 모두 입원시보다 증가되었으나, 무릎에 손상에 사용되는 보편적 검사인 Stress valgus, Stress varus, Drawer test, Apley compression test, Mcmurray's test 상 전후비교에서 4명의 환자는 호전되었고, 1명 환자에서는 변화가 없었다. 결과 이 연구는 내측 반월상 연골판 손상에 대한 신바로 약침을 포함한 한의학적 치료 후 단기간 내 통증 및 기능 향상을 보여주었다.

Objective : This case study reports the therapeutic effect of Korean Medicine (KM) treatments including CS(care special pain) and BV(bee venom) pharmacopuncture on herniated intervertebral disc(HIVD) of lumbar spine(L-spine). Methods : Two patients diagnosed with HIVD of L-spine were treated with CS and BV pharmacopuncture on GV3 and EX-B2, acupuncture, cupping, and herbal medicine. The Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), the Oswestry low back pain Disablility Index(ODI) and the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire(RMDQ) scores were evaluated before and after treatment for comparison. Results : Low back pain(LBP) and radiating pain was improved with a decrease in patients' NRS, ODI and RMDQ scores. Conclusion : These results suggest that KM treatments including combined CS and BV pharmacopuncture could be an effective treatment on patients with HIVD of L-Spine.

Objectives : This study was performed to report the effect of oriental medical treatment in the lower back pain(LBP) with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS). Methods : A 32-years-old man who diagnosed as ALS was admitted with LBP. We treated him by burning acupuncture, herbal medicine, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy and physical therapy from 11th May 2010 to 10th June 2010. Results : After treatment, there was improvement in LBP. Pain Intensity estimated by visual analog scale(VAS) as percentile Pain Intensity Difference(PID), Korean Owestry Disbility Index(KODI) was also improved. Korean version of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis Functional rating scale-revised(K-ALSFRS-R) shows that the patient's physical ability has been improved. Conclusions : Our study suggests that oriental medical treatment are significantly effective in the LBP due to ALS. And further studies will be aid to identify underlying mechanism of treatment.

Objectives : The objective of this study is to evaluate the treatment effect of Oriental therapy including exercise therapy in chronic ankylosing spondylitis with total hip replacement. Methods : Oriental therapy and exercise therapy were performed for 64days admission in a patient who had chronic ankylosing spondylitis with total hip replacement and physical tests were examined. Result : Pain and ROM of cervical. lumbar spine, and left hip joint has improved with this treatment. And Anorexia, dyspepsia, and fatigue were also decreased. Conclusions: In this case, oriental therapy was proved to be effective in improving chronic symptoms and general prostration of Ankylosing Spondylitis. And It is necessary to carry out exercise therapy regulary.
