저항형 초전도 한류기를 위한 배전개통의 모델링과 적용 (Distribution System modeling and Application for HTS Resistor type FCL)

  • Nowadays, one of the serious Problems in KEPCO system is the more higher fault current than the SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker. There are many alternatives to reduce the increased fault current. As the superconductivity technology has been develops, the HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconductor-Fault Current Limiter) can be a one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. Under the this background, this paper presents distribution system EMTDC modeling and the application of EMTDC model for resistance type HTS-FCL in the developed distribution system model.

  • The power systems should be improved to reduce the number of black-out events occurring throughout the world. Quantitative evaluation of composite power system reliability is very important in a competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power systems under a deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. This paper presents sensitivity analysis of probabilistic reliability indices of Korea power systems with checking application of HTS-FCL.

저항형 초전도한류기의 미래 배전계통 적용방안 (Application Scheme of Resistive HTS-FCL on Future New Distribution System)

  • This paper describes the application scheme of resistive HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconducting-Fault Current Limiter) on future new distribution system. Future new distribution system means the power system to which applies the 22.9kV HTS cable with low-voltage and mass-capacity characteristics replacing the 154kv conventional cable in addition to HTS transformer and HTS-FCL. The fault current of future new distribution system will increase greatly because of the inherent characteristics of HTS transformer/cable and applications of distributed generations and spot networks and so on. This means that the HTS-FCL is necessary to reduce the fault current below the breaking capacity. This paper studies the appropriate location, parameters and the influences of HTS-FCL on future new distribution system. Finally, this paper suggests the reasonable basic parameters of resistive HTS-FCL for future KEPCO new distribution system.

  • 본 논문에서는 고온초전도체를 이용하여 한류기에 적용시 고온초전도체 제작에 따른 재료적인 제약으로 인한 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 자속구속개념을 이용한 고온초전도 한류기의 동작원리에 대해 고찰하고 라드(ROD)형태로 제작이 용이한 소형의 고온초전도벌크를 이용하여 대용량에 적용이 유리함을 한류임피던스와 한류비를 �c치용량과 l차인덕턴스의 크기에 따라 조사하여 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증하였다.

22.9kV 지중선로용 한류기 한전 실계통 시범적용 (Application of Fault Current Limiter in 22.9kV KEPCO power distribution line)

  • Watertight 25.8 kV/600 A/12.5 kA fault current limiters (FCLs) have successfully installed in five areas (Incheon, Seoul, Gyeong-gi, Daejeon, Suwon) on KEPCO power distribution line for the purpose of commercial demonstrations. The fault current limiting operation of this FCL, which includes functions of sensing, commutation, and reduction of fault currents, is perfectly completed within 1 cycle immediately after fault occurs. The performance of FCL was verified by short circuit test, impedance test, insulation test, temperature-rise test, and control test, etc at PT&T in LS industrial systems, which is the official certification institute in Korea. In 2013, and also the FCL field test was performed in order to test the protection coordination between conventional relays and FCL, on the 1.5 kA and 5.0 kA faults, which were made by connecting the Artificial Fault Generator (AFG) to the distribution line in test grid at KEPCO Power Testing Center. The next step of this project is to check the FCL conditions caused by real external environment, and acquire the various data from five regions installed with FCL. In this paper, we intend to explain the FCL specifications and performance characteristics, and check the expected effect by application of FCL to power distribution line based on the power system analysis of an application site.

배전급 고온초전도 한류기 절연설계 최적화 연구 (A Study on Optimal Insulation Design of the Distribution Level HTS FCL)

  • In this study, superconducting coil arrangements and cryostat concept design were conducted for the development of 13.2kV/630A bifilar winding type high temperature superconducting(HTS) fault current limiter(FCL) with YBCO coated conductor(CC) wire. The coil consists of several layers with unique non-inductive solenoid winding method. Six types of HTS coil arrangements were investigated for the optimal insulation design of HTS FCL. And, conceptual design of cryostat was conducted for the decrement of thermal invasion and the prevention of low voltage insulation breakdown in the LHe which is used as pressurization gas in sub-cooling condition of liquid nitrogen(LN2). As the results, it was found that the modified suspended type cryostat with horizontal coil arrangement is beneficial to the insulation design of 13.2kV level bifilar winding type HTS FCL.

스마트 그리드 배전계통을 위한 직렬 공진형 한류기 적용 방법 및 EMTP-RV 시뮬레이션 연구 (Application Method and EMTP-RV Simulation of Series Resonance Type Fault Current Limiter for Smart Grid based Electrical Power Distribution System)

  • 본 논문에서는 저비용 제작이 가능한 직렬 공진형 한류기를 스마트 그리드 배전 계통에 적용하기 위한 방법을 연구하였다. 먼저, 한류기의 직렬 공진 회로에 주입되는 단락 전류의 고조파 성분들이 과도 응답의 피크 값에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석하였으며, 퍼센트 임피던스 기반 고장 전류 계산법을 적용하여 정상 상태 응답을 결정하는 방법을 연구하였다. 다음, 시험 배전 선로에 적용하여 채택된 방법의 유효성을 검증하였다. 설계된 한류기를 적용한 시험 배전계통을 EMTP_RV를 이용하여 모델링하였으며 3상 단락 고장 시나리오를 모의하였다. 고장 모의 결과에서 한류기 적용 후 고장 전류의 정상 상태 응답이 설계 목표 값을 정확하게 추종하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 한류기 적용 전과 후의 고장전류 파형 비교에서 고장 전류가 크게 억제되는 것을 확인함으로써 배전 계통에 대한 직렬 공진형 한류기 적용 효과를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This Paper deals with the short circuit tests of the three-Phase DC reactor type fault current limiter (FCL) in changing of turns ratio of transformers. The experiment of this paper is a preliminary step to develop the FCL's faculties for an application to high voltage transmission line. So, superconducting coil was made of Nb-Ti, low temperature superconductor, and the ratings of the power system of experimental circuit are 400V/7A class. A three-phase DC reactor type FCL consists of three transformers, six diodes, one superconducting coil and one cryostat. The important point of experimental analysis is transient period, the operating lagging time of circuit breaker. As the results of the experiment, the values are referred to the limitation rate about 77% and 90% when the turns ratio of transformer was 1:1 and 2:1 respectively.

실계통에서의 154kV HTS-FCL Bus-Tie 최적 적용방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bus-Tie Application of 154kV HTS-FCL in Korean Power System)

  • As the power demand has been increasing, a fault current problem is becoming more serious in real power system. Various ways like bus-split operation, transmission line open operation, are used in Korean power system for solving the problem. In this time, superconducting FCL(Fault Current Limiter) has been developed as a vary attractive alternative since HTS(High Temperature Superconductivity) was discovered. Korea, a project developing superconducting FCL to apply to 154kV transmission system is proceeding. Therefore, a power system analysis for SFCL application to power system is necessary, This paper presents the determination of quenching resistance and the selection of optimal cites when 154kV HTS-FCL is applied to Korean power system.

  • As the load density of KEOCO system is higher, the fault current can be much higher than SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker. Fault current exceeding the rating of circuit breaker is a very serious problem in high density load area, which can threaten the stability of whole power system. Even though there are several alternatives to reduce fault current, as the superconductivity technology has been developed, the HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconductivity Fault Current Limiter) can be one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. This study presents the application of 154kV HTS-FCL in Korean power system.
