전 세계 디지털 방송환경은 유럽 과 미국의 디지털 위성방송 서비스의 성공을 계기로 지상파 방송 및 케이블방송에서 빠르게 디지털화가 진행되고 있다. 특히 디지털 케이블 방송은 단일 인프라에서 방송과 인터넷 서비스의 동시 제공성 때문에 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 디지털 케이블 방송기술은 크게 유럽의 DVB-C/RC 표준과 미국의 Open Cable 표준으로 양분되며, 미들웨어의 경우도 MHP(유럽), OCAP(미국)으로 양분되어진다. 본 논문에서는 양대 디지털 케이블 방송기술을 비교 분석하고, 양방향 디지털 케이블 방송용 STB 여러 가지 요구사항을 기술하고 또한 이를 만족할 수 있는 케이블 셋탑박스를 구현하도록 하였다.

This paper analyses the codes of ethics of eight engineering societies in USA and Korea focusing on fundamental canons, and major findings are as follows. Firstly, engineering societies in Korea began to make a code of ethics recent1y. Secondly, codes of ethics in USA have similar contents by mutual learning contrary to Korean cases. Thirdly, some codes of ethics in Korea are very poor and their presence are not well perceived. Fourthly, codes of ethics in Korea don't cover comprehensively responsibility to the public, to employers or clients, and to the profession. Fifthly, engineering societies in USA hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public. Sixthly, new social issues including sustainable development are well discussed in the codes of ethics in USA.

미국 뉴포트의 주택들은 20세기를 전후로 하는 시기에 당시 최상류층의 휴양용 저택들로서, 미국의 절충주의 건축을 대표할 수 있는 특징을 갖고 있는 주택들이다. 본 연구에서는 미국에서 유럽의 건축적 전통과 영향을 절충주의적 철학에 따라 자신들의 형식으로 완성한 양식상의 전개를 살펴보고자 한다. 단순히 외국의 건축으로서 보다는 전통적 건축보다 외국의 영향에 의한 근대건축 문화를 이룩한, 우리나라의 건축 양식적 문제를 상호 비교하여 살펴보는 한 사례가 될 수 있을 것으로 본다.

This study compares and contrasts elementary mathematics curricula of Korea, China, Japan, and USA, as a part of efforts to compose contents of global elementary mathematics. This paper analyzed the similarities and the differences of mathematical contents in the domain of geometry. On the basis of this comparative analysis, this paper included implications that are expected to be informative in the revision of the Korean mathematics curriculum.

The purpose of this study is to have insights comparing Korea with US media companies on investigating their CSR goals, targets, methods, and strategies. Specifically, this study finds out the characteristics of CSR cases on broadcasting companies, telecom enterprises, and internet businesses on both countries. The results indicate that the US media companies focus more on inner stakeholders like employees as stimulating employees' welfare, ESG recognition, education, and culture via socially responsible business practices whereas the Korean media companies prefer to supporting have-nots, solving social issues, and market expansion through cause promotions and community volunteering. On CSR activity strategies, there is no difference between countries but some gaps between ones. Of companies, telecom enterprises, regardless of nations, are the best on strategical approaches of CSR activity.

The method of finding the laws in the common law countries is significantly different from that in French civil code countries. The former usually derives the laws from the previous court decisions and applies the derived rules to the current case, called inductive, while the latter prescribes the laws beforehand and then applies the prescribed rule to the current case, called deductive. Such dichotomy in comparative legal research seems to be most recognizable and common. Accordingly, the mainstream of comparative legal research would come from comparison of common laws with civil codes. (omitted)

Social work credentialing systems, which is broadly defined as encompassing licensing, certification, and registration, play an important role in the development of professionalism. The U.S., Japan, and South Korea have developed their own social work credentialing systems, in order to enhance social work professionalism in their own contexts. In this paper, using case-oriented strategy(Ragin, 1987, 1994), we discuss the social work credentialing systems of the U.S., Japan, and South Korea, with particular attentions to the issues related to eligibility, exclusive status as a profession, and regulation on social work education. We also provide recommendations for enhancing social work professionalism in South Korea through comparing social work credentialing systems of Japan and the U.S.

The presence of teacher is very important and it could be the core of making success or failure of education. Thus, most countries have a training program and employment system school teachers for guarantees to school teachers' qualification and profession. Teacher qualifications can be obtained by law, teacher recruitment examination for school in Korea. The Praxis tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations in U.S. Korea teacher employment test consist of 3 groups(1st, 2nd, 3rd test), 1st test measure general and subject-specific Knowledge. The U.S. teacher certification test consist of 3 groups(Praxis I, II, III), Praxis II measure knowledge of specific subjects that K-12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge. The purposes of this study is to review teachers' certification and recruitment system comparative analysis examination questions in the Korea and U.S. This will allow for suggestions in the Korean teacher librarian employment test system.
