Thermoacoustic Analysis Model for Combustion Instability Prediction - Part 2 : Nonlinear Instability Analysis (연소 불안정 예측을 위한 열음향 해석 모델 - Part 2 : 비선형 안정성 해석)

  • It is very important to predict the nonlinear behavior of combustion instability such as transition phenomena and limit cycle amplitude for fully understanding and controlling the instabilities. These nonlinear instability characteristics are highly dependent upon the flames' nonlinear dynamics in a gas turbine premixed combustor. In this study, nonlinear instability TA(Thermo-acoustic) models were introduced by applying the concept of flame describing function to the thermoacoustic analysis method. As a result of model development, for a given combustor length, the growth rate of instability was greatly affected by the change in amplitude, although the instability frequency was not. Further researches under various operating conditions and model validation on limit cycle amplitude are required.

Disturbance Effects on the Stiffness of Normally Consolidated Clay (정규압밀 점성토의 교란에 따른 강성 변화)

  • Laboratory tests are generally used to determine the input parameters for the selected constitutive models controlling various stress and drainage conditions, but have disadvantages in that the tests are performed on the samples obtained from the bore hole which are prone to be disturbed by various factors such as the tube penetrations, sample preparations and storage. To overcome these disadvantages, it is necessary to understand the effect of disturbance on the stiffness of the sample, especially the normally consolidated clays which are generally considered as soft clays. Therefore, in this study triaxial tests are performed on the normally consolidated kaolinite to evaluate the sample disturbance effects on the stiffness and to determine the field representative input parameters. The stress path results show that the shear and coupling modulus degradation patterns with strain are affected seriously by the disturbance. However, the strengths of the normally consolidated kaolinite are little influenced by the disturbance.

Seismic Fragility Analysis of a Cable-stayed Bridge with Energy Dissipation Devices (에너지 소산장치를 장착한 사장교의 지진 취약도 해석)

  • This paper presents a seismic fragility analysis method for a cable-stayed bridge with energy dissipation devices. Model uncertainties represented by random variables include input ground motions, characteristics of energy dissipation devices and the stiffness of cable-stayed bridge. Using linear regression, we established demand models for the fragility analysis from the relationship between maximum responses and the intensity of input ground motions. For capacity models, we considered the moment and shear force of the main tower, longitudinal displacement of the girder, deviation of the stay cables tension and the local buckling of the main steel tower as the limit states for cable-stayed bridge. As a numerical example, fragility analysis results for the 2nd Jindo bridge are presented. The effect of energy dissipation devices is also briefly discussed.

  • The development of a staged combustion cycle engine with higher perfomance is essential to provide higher transport capability of space launch vehicles. The combustor head of engine has a cone-shaped head and its manifold of combustor has a very complicated structure. The head and manifold have been manufactured by casting or machining methode. Metal 3D printing technologies are recently known as one of promising methods to improve manufacturing process for them because they are possible to over come limitations of the two methods. In this paper, a selective laser sintering method is used to make test materials and their physical properties are studying by changing its operation parameters to establish the better processing conditions. It is found that the 3D printing method is acceptable to manufacturing the head or manifold of combustor for staged combustion cycle engine.

Comparative Study on the Efficiency of the Gas Discharge Lasers - Limiting Efficiency of Metal Vapor Lasers - (기체방전 레이저의 효율에 관한 연구 -금속증기레이저의 한계효율-)

  • Practical efficiencies of pulsed gas discharge lasers utilizing vaporized Au, Ba, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, TI atoms are numerically optimized for a discharge pulse of 30 ns rise time at 5 kHz pulse repetition rate. Calculated optimum operating temperatures are close to the values at which the vapor pressure of each atom is about 1 Torr and are in good agreement with experimental values reported elasewhere. The optimum charging voltage was about 4 kV for all atomic vapor lasers except the TI laser. The calculated maximum efficiencies that have been discussed for possible limiting efficiencies for each laser were considerably higher than the reported experimental values. Especially, they were as high as 6.8% for Mn laser and 15% for Ba laser that were comparable to the 8.5% of copper vapor laser, from which considerably higher efficiencies can be expected for these two lasers experimentally. But, the present calculation shows a very low efficiency of 0.058% and requires an exceptional operating condition for the TI laser.

Pullout Characteristics of End Fixed Nails (양단정착형 쏘일네일링의 인발특성)

  • In this study, several pullout tests were carried out under various field conditions to evaluate the pullout force of the end fixed nails. Pullout resistance force, displacement and friction force between the grouting and nail were measured in end fixed nails installed in soft rock, weathered rock and weathered soil. Furthermore, the field test were also carried out under the same condition using the conventional type nails. Based on the test results, it is concluded that the end fixed nails showed larger ultimate resistance force compared with conventional types nails, approximately two times in weathered soil and 1.6 times of weathered rock, respectively. The skin friction is also increased in end fixed type about 1.8~3.0 times. Finally, it is concluded in the base of the force transfer properties that using the end fixed nails could decrease the displacement and show a uniform resistance in entire length of nails.

  • Hydrogen-natural gas blends(HCNG) engine is optimizing technology of performance and emission characteristics with use of hydrogen's fast flame speed and wide flammability limit. As lean-burn limit is extended, the improvement in thermal efficiency and harmful emissions can be achieved. However, the extension of lean-burn limit under a wide open throttle operation point could be realized with the increase in boosting capacity in a lean-burn engine with turbo-charging system. In the present study, the power output characteristics of HCNG engine with turbo-charger change is assessed and feasibility of the increase in boosting capacity is evaluated. The turbo-charger design with high efficiency at higher flow rate rather than higher boosting pressure makes efficient operation possible at relatively rich mixture condition.

Estimation of Agricultural Produce Drying Using Ultrasonic (초음파를 이용한 농산물의 건조특성 분석)

  • This study was conducted to develop the ultrasonic dryer because present drying methods (heat convection, microwave, vacuum, etc.) could not improve the drying consumption energy, decrease of quality and drying ratio by physical limitation. The drying tests were conducted with four levels (No. 1 only non-heated air, No. 2 only ultrasonic, No. 3 only heated air and No. 4 ultrasonic with heated air) and measuring weight of samples after drying carrot and ginseng slices for 30 minutes. The result of test is that the drying ratio was highest in the level of No. 4 ultrasonic with heated air. The sliced carrot's drying ratio was 22.4% (w.b.)/h and sliced ginseng's drying ratio was 3.8% (w.b.)/h. The discoloration and twist of samples was appeared on using only heated air like No. 3.

  • 최근 기후온난화로 인한 이상기후와 지진의 발생가능성으로 인해 직렬 혹은 병렬로 위치한 2개 이상의 댐(저수지)들의 연속 붕괴 가능성도 점점 커지고 있어 연속 댐 붕괴에 대한 비상대처계획도 수립에 대한 관심도 증대되고 있다. 국내에서는 댐(저수지) 붕괴로 인한 극한홍수해석이나 비상대처계획 수립시 국내에서는 DAMBRK, FLDWAV, HEC-RAS와 같은 1차원 수리동역학 모형이 주로 사용되어지고 있다. 하지만 1차원 모형은 흐름을 하나의 방향으로만 한정하여 해석하고, 각각의 적용 횡단면에서 동일 수위를 가지다는 가정으로 홍수범람해석을 수행하므로 정확성뿐만 아니라 실제 적용성에서도 한계를 가질 수밖에 없다. 댐(저수지) 붕괴로 인한 홍수범람해석에서 2차원 이상의 고차원 모형은 앞서 언급한 1차원 모형에 적용된 비현실적인 가정을 포함하지 않으므로 더욱 정교하고 신뢰성 있는 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 하지만, 홍수범람해석을 위한 상용 프로그램들은 단일 댐(저수지) 붕괴의 적용에는 큰 어려움이 없으나, 지형단면을 초기에 한번만 고려하는 문제로 인하여 연속 댐(저수지) 붕괴의 고려에는 한계를 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 댐(저수지)의 연속 붕괴를 해석할 수 있는 2차원 수리동역학 모형을 개발하고자 한다. 각 댐(저수지)의 붕괴 전과 후의 지형 단면을 여러 번 반영할 수 있는 모형을 개발함으로써 시간차를 두고 붕괴되는 댐(저수지)의 연속 붕괴를 해석할 수 있도록 하였다. 개발모형은 2002년 태풍 루사로 인해 실제로 붕괴된 저수지에 적용되었으며, 이 저수지들은 붕괴시 시간차이를 두고 붕괴가 이루어져 개발모형의 적용 유역으로 선택하였다. 저수지의 연속붕괴 모델링을 위해 지형자료로는 저수지 단면, 댐 제체 및 여수로 붕괴 단면, 하천 단면 그리고 홍수터 지형 반영을 위한 수치지도, 경계조건으로는 저수지로의 유입유량과 하류단 조위조건이 고려되었다. 그리고 태풍 루사 당시의 기록적인 강우를 반영하기 위해 연구유역 인근에 관측된 강우를 모형에서 하천 및 홍수터에서 고려할 수 있도록 하였다.

Changes, Effects, Limitations of Legal System and Conditions of Its Reform for Women's Political Representation in South Korea (한국의 여성대표성 법제도의 변화·효과·한계 그리고 개혁의 조건들)

  • It has been 20 years since the gender quota system for expanding women's political representation was enacted. However, the proportion of Korean women's representatives has not exceeded 20 percent. This study examines how the gender quota system, public funding for women candidates, and public funding for women's development, which are the three pillars of the legal system to expand women's representation, have changed systematically over the past 20 years, how they affected women's representation, and what institutional limitations they have. In addition, it explores the im/possible conditions of reforms for expanding women's representation. To reform the legal system for women's representation, it is necessary to understand that Korea's political system is arranged in a gender-based way in a male-dominated structure, while also understanding that the existence of critical actors and mass driving reforms for gender equality in politics is essential.
